THEODORE

“I'm going to die,” Evander groaned as he rolled onto his side on the rough cave floor.

I rolled my eyes, though fear gripped my chest. “Stop being dramatic. They're going to come for us anytime now.”

He groaned again, his back arching as another wave of the artificial rut tore through him. His Alpha scent filled the cave, thick enough to make me scrunch my nose.

“Save yourself, my prince,” he rasped. “We don't know if those bastards might come back.”

I scoffed, if only he knew.

We'd killed every last one of them before the final bastard managed to inject him with that rut-inducing venom.

“Who'd believe me if I told them the great General of Avindel was a chicken?”

His eyes snapped open.

He glared at me, his handsome face twisted with pain. “You should have been injected.”

I gasped, pressing a hand to my chest. “How dare you speak against the future king?”

He looked away. “The banter isn't working, Theo.” His voice was quieter this time. “It's getting worse.”

My smile faded, and I sighed and checked my comms again.

Nothing. No signal.

I should have listened to my gut and stayed away from this stupid delegation. But I'd wanted to prove my father wrong. I wanted him to see that I was just as capable as the general he trusted with his life.

Instead, I'd gotten myself trapped in a cave with Evander.

A cave the rat bastards had sealed shut after kidnapping us.

Apparently, being a prince meant absolutely nothing to them.

I looked over at Evander.

His breathing was shallow. Sweat had soaked through his shirt despite the freezing air, and every few seconds his body tensed as another wave of the venom tore through him.

At least he was still breathing.

“Why do we even need to trade with rats?” I muttered. “They're rats.”

Evander snorted. Then immediately winced.

“Typical of you,” he said through clenched teeth. “You don't understand why we need them.”

“Enlighten me.”

“They're our best intelligence network. They can slip into places no one else can. That's why your father tolerates them.”

He paused to catch his breath. “This was supposed to be a formal greeting. But no, you just had to open your stupid mouth and anger their leader.”

I frowned.

“And then you threatened their king.”

“He was being rude.”

“You blasted their translator because he refused to tell the king what you wanted.”

“I had no idea a human trying to speak rat was disrespectful.”

Evander stared at me. “If you paid attention to your studies instead of going after every available Omega, you'd know that.”

I sneered. “Well, who looks fucking stupid now?”

“You fucking brat.”

He tried to sit up, but another wave hit him before he could. His face twisted, and he curled in on himself.

“I'm going to die a dishonorable death,” he muttered.

I rolled my eyes again, but this time there was no humor behind it.

I tapped my comms again, hoping for even a blink of signal. I might hate him, but I didn't want him dead. That would just add more reasons to my father's ever-growing list of why I was unfit to be the next king.

“I can't get a signal,” I muttered as my thumbs brushed over the communicator strapped around my wrist for the hundredth time. I turned back to Evander and cursed. His eyes were squeezed shut, his breathing rapid as he curled in on himself.

“Damn it.”

A tiny blue light flashed across the communicator. I froze. Then another blink.

Signal.

I yanked up my wrist and tapped it. Static burst through the speaker.

“Can... hear...?”

“Yes!” I nearly shouted. “Yes, I can hear you!”

The interference crackled for another second before a composed female voice came through.

“Molly here, how can I help you?”

Relief crashed over me.

“This is Crown Prince Theodore Eamon of Avindel. Authorization code AE-1174. Connect me to the military command immediately.”

“Understood, Your Highness. Verifying your identity.”

A soft chime sounded.

“Identity confirmed, connecting you now.”

The line clicked.

“Your Highness?” a familiar voice exclaimed. “We've been trying to reach you ever since your signal disappeared.”

“We're trapped,” I said, not wasting a second. “The rats collapsed the cave entrance behind us. They've sealed us inside.”

“What is your condition?”

“I'm unharmed.”

“And General Evander?”

I had to look at him again. Sweat had soaked through his shirt despite the cave's freezing air.

“He was injected with a rut-inducing venom.”

The line was silent for a few seconds.

“Get the doctor now!”

A moment later, a voice came through, older and calm.

“This is Dr. Emily Suee. Your Highness, I need you to describe the venom.”

“It looked like liquid gold. It shimmers.”

The doctor inhaled sharply. “How long ago was General Evander injected?”

I glanced at my wrist display. “Almost three hours.”

Another sharp intake of breath. “Three hours?”

“Yes.”

“And he's still alive?”

I looked back at Evander. He was pale but conscious. “Yes.”

“Is he still speaking?”

The doctor was quiet for a moment, then spoke again. “Keep him talking. Whatever happens, don't let him lose consciousness.”

My stomach tightened. “Why?”

“Once the venom can no longer find a means of release, it begins attacking the brain.”

“How long do we have?”

“Approximately one hour.”

I clenched my jaw. If he died, I'd be blamed for his death. “Tell me how to stop it.”

“The venom must be expelled.”

“How?”

“Through release.”

I stared at the comms. “You mean sexually?”

“Yes, Your Highness. That is the only way it will leave the body. Without it, it will continue spreading until it reaches the brain.”

Before I could answer, another officer broke in.

“Your Highness, we've been trying to reach your location since the signal disappeared. The rats have activated a planetary shield.”

“What?”

“We're trying to disable the shield, but...” His voice faltered. “We don't know if we'll succeed before the General's condition becomes irreversible.”

I looked across the cave. Evander's breathing had become even more strained.

“There's no Omega here. It's only the two of us.”

Silence answered me.

Finally, the doctor spoke, her voice weighed down with helplessness.

“I'm afraid we don't know what to do, Your Highness.”

  • Omega Hunted    I'll Bring him back

I stepped off the transport ship and walked straight into the military command center. I had been off-planet for upto a month on a self-assigned mission, desperate to put as much distance as possible between myself and the palace. My lieutenant met me the moment I walked through the doors. "General. You need to look at the main briefing right now."I frowned and walked over to the central console. The screens were flashing red with a sector-wide alert. A picture of Theodore was plastered across the display."What is going on?" I asked, my voice tight."The Crown Prince is missing," the lieutenant answered. "It happened while you were gone. His Highness suffered a core inversion. He presented as an Omega. Then, just a few hours ago, Dr. Suee confirmed another medical scan. The prince is pregnant. The King ordered an immediate termination of the pregnancy, and Prince Theodore ran away to escape it. Palace security is searching the entire city."I froze. The words echoed in my head, but

The metallic air of the lower city hit my lungs the moment I pushed through the service grate at the base of the palace wall.It was a completely different world down here. Far below the polished spires and sterile halls of the royal wing lay the Under-Sectors, a chaotic, overcrowded maze of rusted catwalks, neon lights, and crowded alleys. I kept my head low, pulling the dark hood of my cloak deep over my face as I navigated through the thick crowds. For years, my Alpha scent had been a shield that kept people at a respectful distance. Now, stripped of that power, I felt completely exposed. As I hurried down a narrow market street, a rough-looking Alpha carrier brushed past my shoulder. The sudden proximity sent a jolt of terror straight through my chest. My new Omega instincts flared, screaming at me to shrink back and hide. The man paused, his nose twitching slightly as he caught a stray whiff of my sweet scent, but I ducked into a dark alleyway before

"I have to report this," Doctor Suee stammered, backing away toward the door, her hand frantically reaching for the unlock pad. "I can't hide a pregnancy of the royal heir. His Majesty will execute me if he finds out I concealed medical data!""Doctor Suee, wait!" I begged, pushing myself off the bed. My head spun, and my knees nearly gave out, but I forced myself forward. "Please! Just give me a day—give me a few hours to talk to my mother!""I can't, Your Highness! I'm sorry, I can't!"The electronic lock chimed green, and Doctor Suee hit the door control, bursting out into the hallway."Doctor Suee!" Oliver yelled, running after her.I stumbled out into the corridor right behind them. My legs felt heavy and unsteady, but panic drove me forward. Palace staff, nobles, and royal guards posted along the wing turned in shock as they saw the head of royal medicine sprinting down the gallery with the Crown Prince and his companion chasing frantically behind her.Whispers broke out immedia

Four weeks passed, but the storm outside my doors never truly settled.Ever since the medical leak hit the net, the palace had been put on a strict lockdown. I was effectively confined to my wing, stripped of my public duties while my father and the royal council scrambled to control the political damage. My father hadn't spoken a word to me since that day in the throne room. He didn't have to, his silence and the guards posted outside my door said everything.I sat on the edge of my bed, staring blankly at the glass wall that overlooked the palace gardens.A wave of nausea hit me out of nowhere. My stomach churned, and I scrambled off the bed, rushing into the adjoining washroom. I fell to my knees in front of the basin, dry-heaving violently as my chest heaved. Nothing came up, my stomach was completely empty. I hadn't been able to keep a full meal down in over a week."Theo?"Oliver’s voice came from the bedroom. A second later, he rushed into the washroom. He dropped to his knees

My father stood over us, breathing heavily as he glared down at me with pure disgust."Get up!" he barked at me, ignoring my mother, who was still crouching over me and holding my arm tightly. "Get off the floor, you pathetic excuse for a prince!"I pulled myself up slowly, my head throbbing where he had struck me. My lip burned, and when I wiped it with my hand, my fingers came back stained with blood. My mother stood right beside me, keeping a protective hand on my back.King Madina turned on Doctor Emily Suee, who was standing near the dais with her scanner clutched in her trembling hands."Fix it," Madina ordered, his voice dark and dangerous. "Fix it right now."Doctor Suee swallowed hard, her face completely pale. "Your Majesty... I don't understand—""I don't care what you understand!" Madina shouted, taking a step toward her. Doctor Suee flinched. "You are the head of royal medicine! I don't care what tech you have to use

The doors behind me opened, and my mother rushed into her bedchamber."Theodore!" she gasped, closing the doors securely behind her. She hurried over and grabbed my arms. "I saw Lord Wells and the others outside. My dear, what happened?""Mother, what are we going to do?" My voice shook. I grabbed her sleeves, staring at her as the panic built up inside me. "They smelled it. Wells, his son, Sofia, the guards, the servants... everyone knows. It's spreading through the palace right now.""Calm down, my boy," she whispered, pulling me into a quick hug. "We will handle this. I am going to—"A sharp knock cut her off.My mother stepped in front of me. "Who is it?"The door opened, revealing a Royal Guard. "Your Grace," he said, keeping his voice stiff and neutral. "His Majesty has summoned you and the Crown Prince to the throne room immediately."Panic hit me instantly. My father. I already knew what he thought of me, and I knew how much he despised anything he saw as weakness. I couldn't
