Chapter Twenty One

Asher’s POV:

My eyes were glued to her retreating back as she ran off the rooftop, and once again I questioned myself. What was it that I found so attractive about her? And why did it seem like her haughtiness seemed to turn me on even more?

All my life, I had been used to people having to fear me, especially young vulnerable girls like her.

Maybe I was just fascinated by her audaciousness.

As I started to pace around the rooftop, I reached into my pants pocket and retrieved a pack of cigarettes and a lighter.

I watched the smoke fill the air as I lit the cigarette, and because it was windy on the rooftop, the smoke was quickly dispersed.

I closed my eyes as I took a puff and felt the calmness spread all over my body.

My ears caught silent footsteps coming from behind me, I did not need to look back to see who it belonged to, I could recognize Nikolai from his shadows which were reflecting in front of me anyway, thanks to the moon.

He cleared his throat as he came to stand close to me
