Kieran's POV I immediately pulled Nyx behind me, seeing the huge creature of fire that stood before us. It looked deformed to an extent, and wasn't as beautiful as I'd have thought a fiery wolf to be, but what was I really expecting from dark magic? The wolf howled at us, and it was fire that came out of its mouth. We were lucky enough to have dispersed before it could burn us down.“No one dies, not now,” I said, and we began to fight. The fiery wolf let out another earth-shaking howl with flames spilling from its mouth as it snarled at us. Its glowing red eyes burned with nothing but rage and destruction. The surrounding air got very heated, and the ground beneath us trembled. I could feel myself tremble from the appearance, but I could not show fear. Not as a leader. Not now, not ever.I yanked Nyx behind me as my instincts kicked in to protect her at all costs. She was faster than anyone I had ever seen, but this wasn’t just any fight. This was dark magic, and I couldn’t risk los
Nyx's POV Kieran’s strain with his brother had been weighing on him all day, and it showed in everything he did. There was tension in his shoulders, in the way he moved, and in the sharpness of his words whenever he spoke. He wasn’t outright angry, but he was obviously bothered.I could feel it too, even though I hadn’t been with him for most of the day. He had left the pack house earlier with Nicholas, and I hadn’t been able to check up on him. I wanted to, but I also knew that when Kieran needed space, it was best to give it to him. When he finally came back, I could tell right away that he was still vexed. His jaw was clenched, his hands curled slightly into fists like he was holding something back. But then, his eyes landed on me. And just like that, most of his anger melted away. I saw the change in his face, the way his expression softened, the way his shoulders relaxed just a little. It was subtle, but I noticed it. That small moment, that little shift, filled me with wa
Kieran's POV It felt good that my suspicions had been easily confirmed by Jephta's previous unfortunate experience. Now, we have more than enough conviction to fight Bridge off to the end. “So, Caleb wanted us to end up in Bridge's area of Gingrich since the hotel where we had planned to stay was relatively close to his pack,” Nyx said.“His plans failed grossly when we took a turn at Alpha Daniel's pack, and not Bridge's,” Nicholas muttered.“But why go through all that stress just to get us in one place for a night or two?” Jephta asked.“Maybe we'd have been better aligned with Bridge, or maybe he'd have even killed us, since it would have been quite easier,” I growled. “Well then, I guess we dodged a bullet.” Nyx sighed.“So, get ready, we leave by nightfall,” I said.“How hard do you think it'd be?” I asked Nicholas, who stood close to me. “Since they're not expecting us. It shouldn't be so hard, and also, the only difficult thing should be passing their borders safely.”“Yea
Nyx's POV I wasn’t entirely sure about what Kieran was saying, but if he believed it was right, then I had to trust him. He had led us through battles, through impossible situations, and somehow, we made it through. That had to count for something. When we finally arrived back at the pack house, most of the pack members had already gone to bed. The house was quiet, peaceful, and for the first time in what felt like forever, there was no immediate danger lurking in the shadows. But not everyone was able to rest. Nicholas was still on edge. His paranoia about another attack wouldn’t let him relax. Even though we had won, he wasn’t taking any chances. He gathered most of the guards and positioned them outside, watching every corner of the territory, making sure no one could take us by surprise. Blue stood outside with him, watching over the pack house with him. She didn’t say much, but I knew she shared Nicholas’s worries. They weren’t wrong to be cautious. After everything we h
Nyx's POV I got down with Kieran. It was scary because I could only imagine Caleb would try to get to me somehow. I growled, trying to suppress the fear that had already built up inside of me.“Who are you, and why are you here?” Kieran asked, growling. Blue came to stand beside me, and Nicholas beside Kieran.“I came to hasten up the work the master has sent you.” The lead wolf growled. “Go and kill Alpha Daniel!”“Your threats to him are meaningless.”So, I was right. Caleb did send them. Who knows if he's lurking somewhere, waiting for the perfect opportunity to grab me and escape?“You do know that this fight is pointless, right?” I asked.“The chances of us surviving are pretty low, but we will deliver the message the Alpha has sent us.” The wolf growled again.“Then, so be it.” Kieran growled. The air was very tense as the wolves snarled at us. My heart pounded like a drum inside my chest, but I forced myself to stay calm. I trained for this. I have learned to fight. But fear
Kieran's POV Nyx and I somehow found ourselves in the toilet of the restaurant. It was big enough to take more than five people. To be less worried about people running into us, Nicholas and Blue were standing as guards outside.I forced the toilet door open, fiddling with my belt as Nyx hurriedly unbuttoned my cloth. Every now and then, our lips would collide.“You are so beautiful.” I groaned, kissing her desperately. “And you are the object of my desires.” She whispered back at me, staying a little bit longer on my tongue. I finally got my belt off my trousers. I threw it off immediately. Nyx was almost done with my shirt, so I moved to the zip of her gown. I removed it slowly whilst enveloping my mouth with Nyx's.The last button of my shirt gave way, and I shrugged it off, discarding it carelessly. At the same time, I tugged at the zipper of her gown, slowly peeling it away, savoring every inch of her skin that was revealed. She gasped when i kissed her shoulders, and I couldn
