Chapter 1. The Bet

On Friday afternoon, Helen Robert had just finished her pharmacy class and was heading back to her hostel when she heard someone yelling her name.

"Wait, Helen," Samuel Kingston called. He was a 23-year-old man and a fourth-year student at Avalon University.

"Why should I wait? What do you want from me?" Helen asked as she turned back to face Samuel Kingston, the notorious bad boy at Avalon University.

"Why are you acting hard to get? Do you think I want to use you?" Samuel asked as he refused to give up. He wore a faded black jean jacket, jeans, and boots, as he had just exited his pharmacy class. He was studying pharmacy as well as Helen, but she was a brilliant, chubby, 21-year-old fair-skinned girl.

Some other pharmacy students stole glances at them and wondered if Helen would give Samuel a chance. Besides, his father was a billionaire and owned a pharmaceutical company in their state.

Helen wore a white top and a brown skirt, paired with black shoes. A pair of spectacles was perched on the bridge of her nose. She was of average height and had blue eyes and long blonde hair.

"Samuel, I am warning you: keep your distance from me. If you chase after me again, I am going to report you to the chancellor. So stay away!" Helen warned Samuel. She didn't want to have anything to do with him.

Helen Robert was from an average family of five children, but she was the only daughter. The four of her brothers were businessmen, and she was the youngest. At first, her parents didn't support her education at the university, but because of her intelligence, her father finally agreed for Helen to further her studies.

Helen didn't want to disappoint her mother, so she avoided relationships. At the age of 21, Helen Robert was still a virgin, and many of the students at Avalon University were aware because Helen didn't have a boyfriend.

"Chubby nerd!" they called her.

"What's Helen trying to prove? Why is Samuel Kingston chasing after that chubby nerd? Didn't he see other pretty women that he could possibly chase after? Why Helen?"

Helen heard the ongoing rumors and the insults flying around, but she didn't care to stare at the other students. She held her books to her chest and went back to her hostel, where she had four other roommates staying with her.

Bridget Black.

Anita Roland.

Cynthia Jackson.

Tasha Thompson.

Bridget and Anita were both 23-year-old brown-skinned ladies. They didn't like Helen because she was more focused on her studies and didn't like to attend parties with them.

However, Tasha was Helen's best friend, but unlike Helen, who was the youngest among them, Tasha was a 22-year-old lady, and she attended some of the university events.

While Helen was the only plus-sized one among them, Tasha was slim like Bridget and Anita.

"Helen, I saw Samuel chasing after you today. Ain't you going to give him a chance? A lot of girls will kill to have Samuel's attention, yet his whole attention is on you. Why can't you accept to date him? Please?" Tasha asked, holding on to Helen's hand when Helen returned from her class.

"But Tasha," Helen frowned as she refused.

"I do not want to have anything to do with a guy like Samuel. He changes his girlfriend every week since he joined in our first year. How can I date him? Don't talk to me about Samuel again. And if you are interested in him, you can go after him," Helen said as she refused to budge.

Tasha sighed. "It's fine. I honestly wish I was the one that Samuel was asking on a date. You are obviously missing out."

Helen sighed, not wanting to dwell on Samuel's topic. She went to her bunk bed to lie down as she was already exhausted after returning from her class.

Soon after, she fell asleep on the bed.

***

At the men's dormitory, Samuel was with his three best friends, Alex Benson, John Edward, and Eric White, as they stayed in the same room.

"What's up with you, Samuel? Have you finally won the bet?" John asked. He was a 25-year-old guy. His father was a senator, and he was a bad boy too and Samuel's best friend. While Alex and Eric were also among their team, they had not expected Samuel to accept the dating challenge with John because they knew that Helen was not Samuel's type of woman.

Samuel smiled as he sat on the bed in his room. "Just give me time, and I will surely get Helen."

"Give you time for how long? You already lost the bet because I saw you asking her out today again. That chubby nerd is so full of herself, and I just hate her," John ranted because he had tried to ask Helen to help him with one of his projects, but she refused, which led him to fail.

John had paid a few students to help him with his homework, but this particular subject needed Helen's help. Instead of helping him solve it like the prodigy that she was, as he offered to pay her 50,000—considering the highest that he had paid was 10,000—she refused. She declined his offer and embarrassed him publicly. Her words sliced his heart like a sword, telling him, "Why don't you read your text books and pass the exams yourself?"

John gritted his teeth as he remembered the poker face that Helen had given him.

Back to the present, Samuel smiled and said, "I am on the same boat as you, John. We have until our final-year graduation, which is next year, for the bet to conclude. If I get Helen, date her, and sleep with her, as the bet says, you will pay me 10 million. But if I lose, I will have to pay you the bet. Deal?"

"Yeah. Deal," John said, his voice full of seriousness, while Eric and Alex both shook their heads.

"You guys are crazy! Even if you give me 20 million, I cannot sleep with that chubby nerd, even though she got a pretty face. She is not my type. Damn it! I cannot imagine the thought of carrying her and making love to her. Count me out of your fụcking bet. I love to have my girlfriend slim and simple. Not that plus-sized nerdy one," Eric said. His father worked in a petroleum company, but he wanted to be a pharmacist in the future. They were all pharmacy students, but they knew that aside from Helen's chubby figure, the majority of the lecturers liked her.

"Even me too, I cannot imagine dipping my dïck in Helen's cave or having her sit on me and ride me like a cowgirl. She is going to break my waist. Samuel, I am going to advise you to reconsider your bet with John. John is obsessed with getting his revenge on Helen after she refused to help him do his homework, which resulted in his humiliation and his detention. So he wants to see her humiliated, and he is using you too," Alex said, his voice full of concern for his best friend too.

"Don't worry. I got this. I want to have Helen even if it's for a night. She is not my type, but that doesn't change the fact that she is a virgin compared to all the loose girls in this university. I want to know what it feels like to sleep with a virgin, even if it's once. I want to feel her virgin áss around my dïck, then I will break up with her. That's the deal," Samuel said, his lips curled up in a smile as he rendered his three best friends speechless.

"Fine. Do what you wish," they replied, as they were older than him. Samuel smiled and restrategized. "Trust me, I don't fail," he said with full confidence, believing that he would get Helen soon.

"Alright. We trust you," they agreed on the bet, hoping to see him succeed.

Do you think Samuel will get Helen? Find out next.

Helen blushed when she heard Tasha's inquiry."Yes. I have accepted to be Samuel's girlfriend," she admitted, and Tasha's face paled."What? Haha!" Bridget laughed aloud when she heard Helen's reply."Helen, don't joke with us on a beautiful Sunday like today. Do you mean Samuel Kingston, or is there another Samuel Kingston that is asking you out on a date?" Bridget asked, walking away from her bed as she walked up to meet Helen.Helen scowled and lowered her head."It's Samuel. Well, we are not doing anything intimate. Just to be friends," Helen said with a smile, and Bridget gasped."Are you for real, Helen? I thought Samuel and you broke off last semester before we vacated?""Yeah. We did. But I don't know what came over him? He is after me again, and I am thinking of giving him a chance. At least, before we vacated," Helen admitted as she sat on her bed."Oh my goodness! Samuel is a bad boy, and he has a bad record for breaking many women's hearts. Helen, I am going to advise you

"Guess who's back, Tasha?" Anita squealed, as she hurried into the room to meet Tasha, who was laying on her bed, not interested in getting up for the day. She was still annoyed that Samuel was obsessed with Helen to the point that he went to Helen's house to check on her.If that wasn't a definition of love, what more could Tasha name it?She gritted her teeth and used her pillow to cover her head, as she swatted Anita's hand away from pulling her off the bed."Let me be, Anita. I don't care who's coming today," Tasha gritted out, her voice laced with annoyance.Anita startled, peered at Tasha's reaction in shock."What's wrong with you, Tasha? I thought you were sad because you didn't see Helen. She's back. Tada!" Anita squealed as she pulled the door open for Helen. They were worried that if Helen didn't resume, then there was a possibility of a new roommate coming into the room to join them."Helen, you're here!" Anita squealed, wearing a short brown dress as she rushed up to hug

When Helen arrived at the bottom of the stairs, she walked into the living room and spotted her mother standing by the dining table and arranging the chairs."Good morning, Mom," Helen greeted her mother with a warm smile on her face. She was dragging her box along, and Rosemary smiled upon seeing her daughter's happy face. She knew it was the young man who had come to visit them that made Helen glow in the morning brightness.Rosemary stood in a milk-colored nightdress as she donned a pair of black slippers. Her husband was still upstairs in the room, sleeping."Morning, Helen. Are you leaving this early? It's just after 7 a.m.," Rosemary inquired with a smile as Helen walked up to the dining room to meet her.Helen left her box in the living room and walked up to join her mother in arranging the remaining dining chairs, as her mother had busied herself with cleaning the whole house."I know, Mom," Helen replied with a smile. "I want to be on campus on time to catch up with where I l

John was getting ready for his bath, even though it was late and midnight."That bìtch isn't worth my time. I can have anyone that I want.""Alright. I just thought you got annoyed. Though it was disrespectful for Tasha to say that about you, I didn't think you should take it to heart," Samuel replied with a smile."Really? What if you found out that Tasha liked you? Would you date her?" John queried as he pinned his gaze on Samuel's face.Samuel's expression darkened, and he replied, "No way. She is not my type.""Mm. The same thing you said about Helen, but you ended up chasing after her like a lovesick fool, forgetting that it was all a bet.""John," Samuel's expression darkened, and John laughed at last. "What did I lie? What man goes to a woman's house if not that he is in love with her?""I am not in love with Helen," Samuel retorted, and John smirked."We shall see about that." John exited the room to have his bath, while Samuel lay on his bed, annoyed.*Why does John think tha

Helen was stunned in her room when she heard Tasha mention that she wasn't the one who had given Samuel Kingston her house address."If Tasha isn't the one who gave Samuel my house address, then who did?" Helen pondered as she lay on her bed.She went online and searched through her friend list. She had many new friend requests, but she didn't waste her time adding anyone. Her profile was on private mode, and she didn't want pretentious friends. Only a handful of her relatives and family members were on her list, but since her father's company got sold, Helen noticed some of her relatives had unfollowed her.She sighed and added Samuel, as she needed him to explain where he got her home address.*Did he hire someone to monitor me?* Helen pondered as she nervously accepted Samuel's friend request. She clicked on the direct message and sent him a message:Helen: "Samuel, who gave you my home address? Did you hire someone to stalk me?"Helen felt uneasy about it. She couldn't imagine tha

"It's fine. You don't have to explain yourself. I won't be against it if you want to date John. He's a single guy, after all," Samuel pressed, clearly amused, but John was silent, observing Tasha's reaction. She had rejected him even before he had the gut to ask her out."I am not into John. He's not my type of guy," Tasha replied dismissively, wanting to get away. She could feel John's gaze burning behind her back, and she dared not look at him. Surprisingly, John didn't confront Tasha like she had thought. She assumed it was because Samuel was there and a few other students. John also respected Samuel a lot.Tasha knew that she would have a death wish to say that directly to John's face, so she didn't dare to look back at him."Oh, is that so?" Samuel inquired, clearly amused as he chuckled and drew nearer to Tasha, even as the night had fallen."So who is your type of guy?" he asked her, standing in front of her. "Because John is the hottest of them. And I don't know who is better
