CHAPTER 4

I DON'T KNOW how many bottles of alcohol Diana and I have consumed since we arrived at this bar. She has been drinking after drinks and not doing the reason why we came here. She just keeps staring at a table surrounded by a lot of men. That's all that has been happening since we arrived five hours ago.

And she said that, according to her source, one of those well-dressed men is my friend's future husband. I don't understand why she doesn't just approach and ask who Diether Sandoval is, so we can leave. I still have a job interview tomorrow.

Earlier, there were only a few people, but now it feels like it's raining people because of the crowd.

"What are you waiting for, Diana? Go ahead and-"

"I can't, Krys. I'm still embarrassed. What if he rejects me in front of his friends? Then your pretty friend will go home in tears? Let's wait a bit longer..." Diana raised her hand and signaled to a passing waiter, "Another bucket please."

"Hey! Are you planning to get drunk?" I asked her and slapped her hand. She just smiled sweetly at me.

"No, of course not, Krys. I'm just trying to gather courage. I need these so that I will have the courage to go and talk to Diether-"

"You're trying to get drunk!" I snorted. I had no choice but to drink with my friend.

My headache from last night's drinking hasn't even gone away yet, and it looks like it's going to get worse. But I can't refuse it because hello! It's alcohol! It's a vitamin for people like me who don't know what's going to happen in life.

"Wait, Krys. I'll just go to the powder room first. I'll just fix myself up a bit, and maybe I'll go to my future husband's table later," I quickly stepped aside to let Diana pass.

"Are you sure you can handle it? You might just pass out on the floor," I asked, full of concern.

She just gave me a thumbs-up before leaving and disappearing from my sight. I had no one to talk to, so I just took out my cellphone to see if there were any calls or texts.

I only had one unread message from my cousin Rusty, asking where I was. As I was about to reply, I felt someone sit next to me. Thinking it was Diana, I let it be.

"Oh, you're back already. You're so fast..." I stopped talking when I turned to see a man who looked like a pervert sitting next to me.

I quickly moved away and glared at him.

"Oh, come on, miss. I know you want me to. My place is just one kilometer away from here. I can take you there-"

I quickly grabbed my glass and violently threw it at his face. He raised his eyebrows in response and was about to approach me again when someone's hands quickly grabbed him and pushed him away from me.

"Dude, don't you know the word respect? The lady obviously isn't interested in you. Why do you have to be so cocky-"

"Who the f*ck are you?" the perverted man angrily asked the person who pulled him away.

I quickly turned my head and felt a strange sense of nervousness when I saw the face of the man. If I remembered correctly, he was the same man I accidentally bumped into at the coffee shop earlier.

What a coincidence that we met again at this bar...

My eyebrows shot up when I heard his name. I secretly laughed when I saw a tall and handsome man approaching.

"Hey, any problem here, Ymir?" the man asked in a deep voice as he walked towards our table.

"Here. This dickass just harassing this... poor woman. Get him out of your bar," Ymir said, glancing at me for a moment before pushing the harasser away. The bouncers quickly took care of the situation.

"As you wish, my dear friend. By the way, Myco with the gang is there. Why don't you go there?" the man said.

I felt uneasy when I saw Ymir glance at me. Did I have to say thank you to him? Was that what he was waiting for?

"I can't, Nycs. Someone is waiting for me at my place. I'm sure you know what I mean," Ymir said before laughing.

I pretended to be busy with my phone and avoided eye contact.

"They'll be mad at you. Come on! Just come with us for a bit. I promise dude, you'll still make it home to your girl," the man said.

"Andrea was not my girl. And I doubt that. The last time you invited me for drinks, I slept the whole day. You probably mixed something in your drinks," Ymir replied.

"Yeah, there is! And that is paradise! Come on!"

I breathed a sigh of relief when they finally left. I hadn't even realized how much alcohol I had consumed. I felt nervous, but I didn't know why.

"Hey Krys, did something happen? Why do you look like that? And don't tell me you finished three bottles while I was gone?! Geez woman! I thought we weren't going to get drunk tonight?" my friend asked, laughing.

"We're not getting drunk tonight. Shit! We can't," I said, panicking.

"Diana?" I called my friend's name. She turned to me.

"Yeah?"

"Order more. And please, add four shots of their strongest alcohol-"

"Are you sure we can handle that?"

"We need it! So you can finally talk to Diether!" I lied to her, but I knew who I really needed to talk to.

I made a decision. I wouldn't leave this place without talking to Ymir. And to do that, I needed to get drunk and have the courage. I needed to be brave.

If I want something, I must do everything to make it happen. Too bad that Ymir is the one I wanted right now."
