Iris pov.
My best friend was fucking my fiancee in reverse cowgirl position.
That was the scene my eyes caught first, as I peered through the open space before me. They had forgotten to shut the door properly in the heat of the moment.
“Oh, yes!!!!” Lena moaned out loud for my man.
“You are my slut baby.” Mike said to her. “Fuck me like I'm your master.”
She got off him and positioned herself in doggy style, as she muttered. “Yes daddy.”
Mike had lust written all over his face, I knew that look. Without even thinking of me, they began another round of pleasure.
It felt like I was stuck to the ground, I could not move my legs or my eyes. This could not be happening, it was barely two months to our wedding. Something snapped inside me pulling me back to reality, to the disgusting scene I was watching. A tear escaped my eyes as I turned around, clutching my chest. The pain was too much for me and with every step I took in the opposite direction of his house, it grew worse.
I booked a ride to my house and cried all the way. The driver looked worried but did not ask any questions, I was thankful on the inside for that.
When I got home, I quickly wiped my eyes because there was someone in my house. I could tell from the footwear at the entrance.
“What are you doing here mom?” I asked in surprise, when I saw my mother.
My voice was a bit shaky from all that crying but I struggled to steady it.
She looked at me for a while. “I wanted to drop off some side dishes for you.”
“Oh.”
“Are you okay?” She asked as she looked at my face closely. “Your makeup looks smudged, you should reapply setting powder.”
I forced a loud laugh. “Alright, my makeup artist. I am on it.”
After dropping the bags I was holding on the floor, I got my setting powder from my purse and began to reapply it.
“Iris?” My mom called out.
Did she catch on? “Yes mom.”
“Weren't you supposed to drop those off at Mike's?” She asked, pointing to the bags I dropped.
My heart skipped three beats, I could not afford to let her know what was going on.
“Uhmm, he said he will be working late today. I'll give it to him tomorrow.” I lied.
“That is fine, tell him not to stress too much.” She said. “ Where are you coming from with them, then? You left my house a couple of hours ago, but you're just getting to your place now.”
“I stopped over at a friend's.” The lies were coming out more freely now.
“Baby girl, you should pay more attention to your man, not your friends.” My mother started. “Remember you are getting married soon.”
“Yes Madam.” I smiled at her. “Can you leave my house now? I need some privacy.”
“Are you sure you are okay baby?” She asked again.
Whoever said it, was right. Mothers always knew when something was up.
“I'm fine mom, it's just that I am having a bad headache.”
“If it gets too serious, see a doctor. You can come by the house whenever you want.” She looked at me with concern in her eyes. “Don't stress so much about the wedding, everything will be fine.”
“Okay mom, byee.”
“Bye baby.” She said as she blew me a kiss, before leaving.
Immediately the door got closed, my eyes let go of all the tears they were trying to contain.
“How could he do this to me?” I mumbled in between sobs. “Fuck him! How could Lena betray me so easily?”
She was going to be my chief bridesmaid. I told her everything, all my troubles and issues with Mike. Maybe I shared too much, but aren't best friends supposed to do that?
Almost instinctively, I took out all the gifts Mike and Lena had gotten me, from the bags, clothes, down to shoes and moved them to the incinerator in my building.
As I threw the last pair of heels into the incinerator, something flashed in my eyes. It was the engagement ring on my finger.
The anger that surged through me was undescribable, if there was one thing I was certain about. It's the fact that I was going to take revenge on them but for now, I'll play along with their little game.
“What are you doing down here, Iris?” The nextdoor unit owner, who is my neighbor asked.
He had come down to dispose waste.
“Nothing Ed, just burning some stuffs I don't need anymore.” I smiled as I walked past him, back into the building.
I could feel his eyes on me, but I did not care one bit.
Once I entered my unit, I played “Rehab by Rihanna” on loudspeakers as I got into the bathtub to soak for a while.
“ I'll never give myself to another the way I gave me to you, don't even recognize the way you hit me to you. It's gonna take a miracle to bring me back, another one to blame. Cus now I feel like…” I sang out loud in a loud voice.
Tears were streaming down my eyes, but the determination to make them pay was getting stronger too.
My phone rang out, cutting through my thoughts. As I reached out to pick it, I saw the caller and hissed. It was my supposed best friend.
“Hey boo, it's Friday. What do you think about hanging out?” Her sweet voice purred over the phone.
‘Was that what Mike fell for?’ I wondered. ‘A few hours ago I will be thrilled and say I wanted to hang out with her, but now….”
“I don't feel so good, Lena. Can we do this some other time?” My voice was flat.
“What about Mike? Have you forgotten we were supposed to go out together?”
If only she could see me right now, my face turned red with anger when she asked that question. I heard Mike call out for her in the background, but she hushed him.
“Who was that?” I asked, ignoring her own question. “I heard a man's voice.”
Part of me was expecting she'll come out clean, the other part was certain she was going to lie.
“It's the plumber, he's fixing my clogged toilet.” She lied through her teeth.
“Alright, have fun.” I ended the call.
Whatever doubt I was having about my little revenge plan, flew out the window. As I stepped out of the bathtub, one thing was certain.
I WAS GOING TO RUIN THEIR LIVES.
For now, I just needed to get high and it had to be at a club.
This good girl was going bad.
Iris pov. “Do you know him, mom?” I asked confused. She wanted to reply, but placed her hand on her lips to stop any sound from coming out. Her eyes were still on Vince which was leaving me more confused, so I faced Vince. “Have you met my mother before ?” “No, this is my first time.” He replied immediately. “What's wrong with you mom? Is everything okay?” I asked her. Vince came closer to me and patted my hands. “I think you mom has a lot to tell you, I'll be right by the door. Call me if you need me.” “You should tell her everything, there's no point in hiding it or would you like me to?” He asked my mom, then left before she could even say a word. I tried to calm myself to fully understand what was going on here, but the tension was killing me from the inside. I could even feel my headache becoming worse. “Mom, how do you know him?” I asked again. “I don't think I have ever introduced you two.” “Baby.” She managed to say between sobs. “There's something I have to tell you.
Iris pov. When I opened my eyes first, everywhere looked strange. As I tried to understand my surroundings, I saw him. “Vince.” The word came out of my mouth, before I could think of anything. His eyes were bloodshot and he looked like he had not slept at all. So, when that phone call kept coming in, I asked him to take it.My mind tried to process what I had just gone through, I looked at the IV lines I was connected to and instinctively touched my head.“Phew! It's a good thing they cut from down here, if it had been any higher I'll have to do a messy bun on that miserable wedding day.” I whispered to myself.Even if I was not doing this with all of my heart, I still cared about appearances.Vince got off the call and stared at me, like he did something wrong.“Why do you look grim?” I asked. “Who was on the phone?”“Your mom.”“What?” I had completely forgotten about her, to think that she called now of all times. A mother's instinct for sure was always right. “Can you call her b
Vince's pov.I’d paid them half a million, wired before the scalpel even touched her skin to buy this wing of the hospital for the night. This was different from her surgery bill, but I did not care at this point.“How did things go with the men who got her?” I asked Phil, when he came to check on me.“We have one with us, with time he'll spill and let us in.”“Don't go easy on him.” I looked at Phil with bloodshot eyes. “They're the reason she has to fight for her life in there.”“Alright boss.”He stepped out and brought me coffee, then left to handle things after some time. I paced until my legs burned, then sank into the chair again with my head in my hands. My Iris was going under those knives because of me. The guilt filled my chest, causing me pain I had never felt before. Right now, I was just a man terrified of losing the only light in his darkness. My phone buzzed with updates from the streets, about what had just gone down but I silenced it. Nothing mattered except the woma

What if something goes wron—”I did not allow him to finish the words, before cutting him off. “She's already in danger and you expect me to choose safety?”“I'm sorry boss.”“Get everything ready, we're going together.”This time he did not try to argue. “Yes boss.”Within minutes, he had prepared my men and gathered all we needed as we headed out towards the location they had tracked. When the car came to a stop, I looked around and observed that it was some good distance away from where people lived.“Do you think gunshots will travel very far from here?” I asked Phil.“It's hard to tell, but I find that very unlikely.” Came the response.“Let's move in.” I signalled to my men as I took the lead.My boots hit the concrete like thunder as I kicked in the sid
Iris pov.One thought crossed my mind after overhearing them. Vince was definitely looking for me.“At least, I know I'm safe now.”That made me feel some form of relief, as I closed my eyes and drifted away to sleep land with a smile. There was nothing peaceful about the way I slept, since I was t
Iris pov. When I opened my eyes, the first thing that hit me was the stench of sweat and blood together before I tried to adjust to the dim lighting in the room I was kept in.“How long have I been out for?” I asked myself as I tried to move around, then noticed I was tied up.“Wait a minute, have
Vince's pov.“Yeah, I know she's affiliated with the mafia because of me. Can you tell me something new?” I blurted out, almost upset but trying to keep my emotions in check.“It's not that boss.” His eyes were sparkling, now that I paid closer attention to him.“What the hell is it?” “She has maf
Ivan's pov.“What? The same Ramirez I know?” I asked, my voice laced with uncertainty.Luciano had been right all along, it seems like there is more to Iris that meets my eyes. To think that I even considered cutting things off completely with him, when he had mentioned this to me.“Yes boss.” Phil
