Damien’s POV

The moment Alex walked into my office with that look on his face, I knew he had something important to say. And from the way his jaw was clenched, I could tell it wasn’t good news.

“We finally found the source,” he said, placing a file on my desk. “It wasn’t easy, but we traced it back to Cindy. She hired a few guys to spread the rumor about you not being able to produce an heir and, um… other rumors too.”

I leaned back in my chair, fingers steepled as I processed his words. Cindy. Of course.

That woman was relentless. I had expected her to throw tantrums as usual, but this? She had played the long game, manipulating the situation with careful precision.

Alex continued, “She knew your grandfather would never let a scandal tarnish Logan Group’s reputation. The best way to shut it down would be for you to announce an engagement. And since your grandfather doesn’t approve of Ariana, Cindy assumed you’d have no choice but to choose her.”

I let out a cold laugh, shaking my hea

Julie's Pov There's no way I'm going to Charles' office. I had planned to hide from him for a few days. Just enough time for him to forget everything I blabbed that night about Ariana. Now she's asking me to go to his office? “Don’t stand there like a statue, lady. Just go already,” she said, tapping her fingers on the desk like a villain. I snapped out of my thoughts and faced her with a forced smile. “Uhm, ma’am, can I just get the coffee alone? Maybe you can send someone else to deliver these files. You know, it’s my first day… I… I don’t know where his office is.", I stammered "I mean, I forgot where his office is. I might take it to the wrong place or misplace one of the files, or… maybe all,” I said throwing in a strange weird loud laugh at the end, one I regretted immediately it escaped from my mouth. I felt eyes on me as heads turned. The other workers looked in my direction with raised brows. I knew it was my laugh that made them turn their heads. It was the k

Julie's POV As soon as I pulled my car into the company garage and turned off the engine, my brain went straight to yesterday. The way Charles looked at me when he found out Ariana was my best friend... yeah, I caught that look. I’m not that clueless and stupid. His eyes basically screamed, “So this is the best friend you were talking about? The one that was in a contract marriage ?” His eyes looked like they held so many questions. I groaned and dropped my head back against the seat. “Uhhhhhhhhh, I’m such an idiot. Why did I have to drink so much that night?” I mumbled, my voice cracking a little as I gave myself a sad little cry. I exhaled. “Okay... okay... relax, Julie. It’s fine. Just breathe. You got this job yesterday. Don’t ruin it today, don’t lose it yet,” I said under my breath, trying to pull myself together. “Nghhh... haaaannn.” I took in a deep breath and let it out like I was doing a guided meditation or something. “Alright. It’s simple. If he says anything, just

Ariana’s POV "I take you as an ungrateful, shallow woman." The words slid past Damien’s lips like venom, quiet, but deadly. I didn’t even know I was holding my breath until his voice shattered something deep inside me. It didn’t feel like he spoke to me. It felt like he stabbed me. My chest tightened. My knees went weak. Everything I had felt, everything I had cried over this past month, waiting, wondering, hurting, all of it unraveled in an instant. Did he even know how much I worried? How many nights I stayed up wondering if he was alive? How many times I checked my phone, hoping for a message, a missed call, anything? But he didn’t see any of that. Of course he doesn't know any of that. He just stood there. Stone-faced. Cold. Distant. He wasn’t wrong, though. I was here for the contract. I came here for the money. “This is just business,” I whispered to myself. “That’s all this ever was.” Straightening my back, I forced my voice to stay steady. “You’re right, Mr. Logan. I

Ariana’s POV “Stop staring like you've seen a ghost and answer my question?” His voice cold and sharp snapped me out of shock. There he was. Standing right in front of me in a deep blue shirt, the first two top buttons undone, black pants, like the picture I saw on the news. My eyes traveled over him, not believing what I was seeing. Damien. Alive. My eyes met his and everything else faded. My breath caught. My throat tightened. I didn’t think. I couldn’t. "Damien.." I whispered and closed the distance between us in two quick steps and threw my arms around him, like my body moved before my mind caught up. I held him tight, burying my face in his chest. My fingers gripped the back of his shirt. It was real. He was real. He didn’t move. He didn’t hold me back. He stood still, cold as stone. His silence echoed louder than any words, and the only thing I could hear was his heartbeat. Slowly, he peeled me off him and looked down at me. “What’s wrong?” I asked, confu

Ariana's POV I wrapped a towel on my hair after washing and walked toward the bedroom. After the breakfast date with Charles this morning, so many thoughts had been running through my mind. I called Julie several times when I got back, but she didn’t answer. That’s not like her at all. I walked to the mirror and sat down to blow-dry my hair. Damien. His name popped into my head before I even realized it. It's been a month now. So many questions filled my mind. Is he okay now? Will he ever come back? I wished I had answers. I tried reaching his secretary so many times, but it was useless. After being chased out of the villa, I went back twice. Each time, they kicked me out again. I finally gave up. I dropped the hairdryer and tied my hair back in a ponytail with a scrunchie. Then I walked to the couch where I had left my phone. I picked it up and sat down. I scrolled through my call history and found Damien’s number. I had tried calling him every single day, but it was always

Damien’s POVHalf an hour later, I was in the car, heading to the airport. Cindy sat beside me in the back seat, arms crossed, her face locked in a deep frown. She hadn’t said much since we left the hospital, and honestly, I didn’t care. Her silence was a blessing. My mind was full.I needed to see Ariana.I needed to know if she was okay, if she was safe. I needed to know the truth , not secondhand lies.Up front, I caught Alex’s eyes in the rearview mirror. He looked worried. He gave me a quick, forced smile before turning his eyes back to the road.“Damien,” Cindy finally spoke, her voice soft but tense, “you don’t have to do this. You just woke up. You’re not even close to fully healed.”I didn’t answer. I stared out the window, jaw tight. The passing buildings blurred together. She shifted beside me. “Grandpa brought you here to recover. He’s going to be furious. You were in a coma for a month. You need to rest.”Still, I said nothing. Her voice became background noise.“I though
