ログインChapter Four.
A life outside work. Emily dropped her bag lazily on the cushion. She walked straight to her room to take a shower. When she was done. She entered the kitchen to make dinner. She walked into Rosie's room to call her, but she was not inside. She used her eyes to keep searching for Rosie. She checked everywhere but did not see her. Where could she be? Rosie was nowhere to be found. Emily decided she couldn't take it anymore. She picked up her phone to dial Rosie's number. Her line was going through, but she did not pick up until the second attempt. Emily fidgeted. “ Where are you?” Emily asked, concerned. “ It's past 8:00 pm and I know you don't stay up late at night”. Her body trembles because of fear. “ I am so sorry to get you all stressed, I had an appointment with one of my clients who introduced me to another potential client we got talking to and I didn't know it was past time”. “ I'm on my way,” she said after explaining herself. “ Thank God, you are safe, I was so worried, you know if anything happens to you, I won't be able to forgive myself”. “ I know, and nothing is going to happen to me. Stop being negative, I will be home very soon”. She said, and the conversation ended. A few minutes later, Rosie walked in and opened the door with her own personal spare keys. Emily rushed down to hug her tightly. “If there is going to be any emergency, please call me to let me know. I was so worried. What if something had happened to you” “I know, but you know how conversations can be at times stealing in a couple of moments can be only impossible, especially when it is business oriented with the clients being specific about their order. I had to be attentive to get it right, especially the tiny details”. “So who are you working with this time?" Emily asked, looking forward to Rosie's clients as they were people of dignitaries who invited her or referred to her whenever she did her magic”. “Guess,” She insisted. “ You know I am not good at guessing, please don't bored me” “ Fine, it is the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Mr and Mrs Maurice Makolo and their retirement from service”. “ Wow, how beautiful it's worth celebrating. We don't see that much often due to the high divorce in the country. Seeing love that lasts long is always beautiful and a delight to see. I wish for a love that is beautiful and bright for both of us”. “You are getting all emotional as usual, enough about me how was your work”. Rosie chipped in. “ Work was fine, and I am still getting used to working with my boss. His personality is a bit strange to me. Sometimes he is nice the next time he is cold” “ You will be fine, you have barely worked for 2 months I guess with time you will know your boss is not as mean as he projects to be, who knows you just might have a thing for each other”. she patted Emily at her back. “ You know it can never happen, I will never mix work with pleasure, work is work, and pleasure is pleasure. I don't want my relationship to be mixed with my work life and especially not with my boss” “Somebody that is so mean to me at work, imagine him being my partner, I don’t want to even think about it”. Emily said. “ You know how those young rich folks that are born into wealthy privileges can be, is so easy to forget that not everybody is born with a silver spoon, abusing power, taking advantage and treating other people like they don't matter because they can affordable to pay for their services not minding that those beneath also matter, is only a matter of time before you find your feet, try to not look at the ugly side of things and learn to appreciate the little like at least you got a good job that pays the bill”. “ I always know that I will feel better when I talk to you. Thank you so much for the kind words”. Emily felt nostalgia as she recalled how her mom comforted her whenever she overthinks a situation or seems to be extremely worried. “What do you have for lunch? I made dinner, but couldn't eat as you weren't with me, now that you are here let's eat together”. “I got invited to a party, and I was asked to bring a loved one. Who will that be if not you, don't worry it is on a weekend so it won't interfere with your work”. “I don't know, Rosie, you know I don't really like to party, I would rather be indoors, sorry, but I am not interested”. But Rosie wouldn't let go “come on, you need to get out and have some fun. Don't let work be your whole life, If it means to drag you with me I will Emily”. Emily sighed, knowing Rosie was right she needed a break “ I am going to be really shy, and it is going to be boring as hell to me. Do you still want me there”. She said, listing out all the reasons for Rosie to let her be. “ Yes, I still want you there with me,” Rosie insisted. “Okay, fine, you got me, I will go with you but on one condition I don't have anything to wear for the party, you know all my dresses are corporate wear”.She said reluctantly. Rosie face lit up with excitement “ I will gladly allow you to use mine, and you are more than welcome to choose any dress of your choice”. After several hours of trying on different outfits, she finally settled on a stunning dress that perfectly matched the color theme of the party “ I will go with this one” she said twirling around for Rosie to see. She clapped her hands in approval “You look gorgeous! Now shall we? Rosie said, offering her arms. “Yes, let's go” Emily answered, linking her arms with hers.Chapter TwentyLiam is a JerkEmily returned home, knocked on the door, and Rosie hurried to open it. Emily pushed the door and entered the room, slamming it behind her.She collapsed onto the couch, dropping her bag to her right with a quick gesture. Her palms were soaked with sweat.Rosie stared at her; a wave of panic washed over her when their eyes met. She set the book she had been reading on her lap.“How was the party? I hope you had fun? You don’t look relaxed. Are you okay, Emily?” Rosie asked, firing several questions at once.Emily felt her heart pounding in her chest. “I wish I could be, but I drank too much. My God, it’s such a disaster. I still can’t believe this is happening to me. What did I do wrong?” Her body began to tremble.“Breathe deeply. Whatever happens, we’ll get through this together. What happened?”Her emotions exploded at that moment.“How did I end up in this mess?” she shouted as Rosie approached and grabbed her arms.“Tell me something, what’s the prob
Chapter NineteenI Can’t Believe I’m PregnantEmily arrived just in time for the celebration. It was a reception for the teams from Glam and Graham, with both CEOs present: Liam and Mr. Rodrick. Emily smiled, filled with a sense of accomplishment, as she entered gracefully, her charm catching everyone’s attention.“Congratulations, Emily,” Mr. Rodrick said, approaching to acknowledge her work.“If only you weren’t employed by your boss, who happens to be my friend, I would have been delighted to consider you for my own company. It’s been a pleasure working with your company to make this possible. I’m truly thrilled,” he added.“Thank you, sir. It was a team effort; we succeeded together,” Emily replied.“I see your humility is as admirable as your competence,” he added, shaking her hand with such firmness that she wavered slightly. She tried to pull her hand back, but he seemed insistent.“All is well. We both rose to the occasion for this project, and the results speak for themselves

It was everywhere:“Coco Pops has reached the top spot as the best-selling cereal on the consumer market, while families enjoy a nutritious breakfast every morning,” announced the journalist.Tears of joy streamed down her cheeks. She screamed from her room and ran through the house looking for Rosie. She finally found her in the kitchen, baking as usual, her hands covered in flour.“What’s going on?” Rosie asked, noticing the excitement written all over Emily’s face.“You won’t believe what just happened! The project I told you about the last time, the one that was weighing so heavily on me… it’s finally launched on the market, and it’s a huge success,” Emily said, overflowing with happiness.“Rosie, I can’t believe my ears. It worked, and it comes with a raise and a bonus from my boss and his partner. This will give us more money to pay our bills,” Emily added, beaming.“I’m so happy
Chapter SeventeenThe New ProjectThe next morning, Emily opened the folder Alice had brought to the office.“I have work to do. I can’t believe I’m here worrying about the past,” she muttered to herself.Although the work was challenging, responding to Graham’s proposal was the most important thing for her, and she couldn’t bear the thought of losing her job.Emily’s phone rang, and she glanced at the caller before answering. It was Liam. She sighed deeply.“What does he want this time?”— “Good morning, Miss.”— “Emily, come down to my office. I have something important to discuss with you—it’s urgent.”— “Alright, sir. I’m on my way,” she replied, giving the document one last glance before heading out.— “I want to finalize the discussion regarding our upcoming projects. I have an important meeting with a client next week, and I think you would be perfect to lead this project.”— “Your dedication and attention to detail have not gone unnoticed.”— “Thank you, sir. I’ll give it my b
Chapter SixteenProfessionalismThe next day, Emily entered the building and headed straight for Liam’s office to bring him his usual coffee and present the day’s schedule. Once that was done, she quietly slipped away. She wasn’t ready to face him yet. She froze as she heard his voice behind her.“What happened last night meant nothing,” he said, looking her squarely in the eyes as she turned her gaze to a corner of the room.“My God, why does he keep staring at me like that?” she whispered. “These eyes will be my downfall.”“As long as you continue to do your job well here at Glam’s Enterprises, I am willing to work with you. What happened last night is entirely your fault: you couldn’t control your desire for your boss. Do you always get carried away this easily with everyone you meet?” he said coldly.“I expect professionalism at all times. It must never interfere with work. You need to put everything behind you and focus on the well-being, growth, and development of Glam’s Enterpr
Chapter FifteenMemoriesThe memory made her shiver—not from shame, but from the pleasure he had given her.My God, it had felt so good. She couldn’t deny it.But that morning? It felt as if it hadn’t meant anything to him.Emily paced her room, wrapped in a silk robe, the phone still clutched in her hand. She glanced in the mirror: her skin still bore faint traces of him. A bruise on her collarbone. Red marks on her thighs. Her face was a mixture of regret, confusion, and… desire.“Can someone explain why I’m lying naked in a hotel with my boss?” she asked, to no one in particular. The room remained still. Silence prevailed. Every word she spoke echoed back at her.“Oh my God… this can’t be what I think, right?” she gasped, shocked.Tears streamed down her face, her heart shattering into a million tiny pieces. He stepped out of the bathroom. He didn’t give her a glance, grabbed his clothes, and began getting ready.“You should hurry and get dressed. Checkout is at noon, and I’m not r
