LOGINChapter Five
It's the weekend _^_Time to party. Entering into the Makolo mansion to celebrate their 50th years anniversary and retirement from Glams enterprises. Emily's jaw dropped as soon as she entered the mansion. Her eyes roamed the gigantic mansion. The decorators have done a wonderful job by decorating the house with lovely designs. It was absolutely stunning. She walked down the stairs elegantly. Rosie had left her as she was here first for work before relaxation. She has to order her workers to set up the cake that she baked specially for Mr and Mrs Makolo to look just like a castle in the most stylish palatable manner. Emily was stuck all by herself. She looked around and couldn't see any familiar faces. She decided to concentrate on her phone reading a romance novel. The laughter, chatting and merriment from inside distracted her as much as she wanted to concentrate. Rosie walked up to her “ where have you been, come inside Emily’ she said and she followed her to the hall. “ This is a toast to a love so strong that nothing can separate its bond, a love so pure and a love so true that it stands the taste of time, a toast to the most lovely couple I have known, Mr and Mrs Makolo”. Mr. Makolo announced to everyone as they all clapped in unison. He continued as he announced the latest development. “ My company Glams enterprises has also been handed down to my son who has brought nothing but joy to us, Liam Makolo came forward, congratulations as the new C.E.O and no longer acting on my behalf”. Emily's eyes widened in shock as Liam smiled and hugged his dad. “ I promise to do my best to make you proud dad”. He said. He sighted Emily, and was shocked to find her here. He didn't inform anyone from the office about the party. He hadn't made any plans for his office to attend this event. “ Wow, you didn't tell me Mr. and Mrs. Makolo were your boss' parents, this is getting exciting”. “ Because I had no idea, I was stunned to see him here, he was the last person I expected, I certainly know he is not the party type so I guess not so surprised to see that he is the future heir of Mr. and Mrs. Makolo” Liam stepped down from the podium and walked straight towards Emily and Rosie direction“ Good day Sir, Emily stammered. “I see you are here. How are you enjoying the party? "he asked. Why is he being nice all of a sudden? Does he want to get mad at her for attending the party when she was certain she did not know he was going to be there? She smiled. “ The part is great, the music is good, thank you for having me. My friend Roise invited me”. “ You are welcome, it's lovely having you around” He said staring directly into her eyes as he patted her back and left. He went ahead to exchange pleasantries with other guests. “ What was that for? Rosie asked curiously. “ I don't know, he obviously sees me now as visible, not as invisible as I used to be at work or the little clumsy girl he met at the elevator”. “It is okay, no more chit-chat about your young, handsome hot boss”. “Come let's have a drink and get a little tipsy for once” “ A few shots wouldn't be bad to clear my head off though I need to clear my head off the fact that my cold boss is right here with me watching”. Oblivious of where she was going, Emily looked up to see the face of the person she had accidently bumped into. “I am so sorry, I wasn't looking”. “ Are you always this careless or you can't seem to resist touching me”. He snarled. “I had a little too much to drink, and it's taking a toll on me, where is my friend?” she asked a rhetorical question. Dragging her by the arms to sit on the couch. She was getting uncomfortable. “You should be careful or else someone might take advantage of you in this state” Laughing hysterically “ And when did my boss start caring about me, you don't even see me”. She said not filtering her words as she spoke them. He dropped his phone on the sofa and inched closer to her. “what are you talking about, I am your boss and you should listen to me, don't drink beer more than you can handle and mess yourself up like a child”. “ In as much as it's not my business you are still my employer and it matters” His chest close to her now and the proximity between them made her legs twitch. She pushed him away from her.” I am a little clumsy girl right? The one that you won't ever want to bother you, isn't it”. She said as they both stared into each other's eyes. Rosie came in seeing her friend totally drunk. “ OMG, I am so sorry sir, if only I have not force her to this party then she wouldn't be in this condition, thank you Sir for taking care of my friend while I was away”. Rosie explained to Liam who seem uninterested at the conversation. “ Next time tell her to be more mature and drink less”. He responded. “ I will, thanks for tonight we will be heading home since I am done with the whole activities of today”. He left without a single word, as Rosie struggled to carry Emily who was still muttering some words and extremely reluctant to follow Rosie, faling at the stairs at various intervials. “I am not done, I want to give him a piece of my mind, He thinks I am a clumsy, little girl, well, I am not and I will show it to him”. She yelled.Chapter One hundred and forty-four. It still feels like a dream to Ashley as she wore her wedding dress staring at herself in the rectangular mirror hung at the front of the door. Her baby bump showed lightly against the gown she was wearing. Both of them had suggested that the wedding should take place before she gave birth. What amused her the most was when she met with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Makolo. The way they had welcomed her had been the best thing she had ever experienced. “You are welcome dear…I didn't know what took Liam so long to make this decision”, his mom announced. Bastien has also been very welcoming. “Welcome to the family”, he said as he hugged her tightly. “Thank you”, They talked for a while about Iris and his kid. “They are fine”, he replied. She left the place and hurried home to meet her sister for the appointment. They arrived at the bridal shop. Chloe brought out another dress for her to try it on. “I like this”, she said admiring the dress on
Chapter One hundred and forty-three Two weeks later Ashley woke up with severe headache and pains all over her body. As she rushed to the bathroom to vomit she couldn't help but notice how pale she had become as she looked at her reflection in the mirror. She wondered what was happening to her and decided to go see the doctor. She showered, dressed up, and made her way to the hospital. She arrived and met the doctor who examined her before asking her a few questions. “When was the last time you saw your period?” she asked. Ashley blinked her eyes several times. She noticed she had been a few days late already but didn't bother about it thinking it was stress. “I am four days late already,” she replied. The doctor hesitated briefly before speaking again.“We need to run a general body test to know what exactly is going on”, she voiced out. “Okay”, Ashley responded. It dawned on her that the last time she had been intimate with Liam, they had been so engrossed that neither o
Chapter One hundred and forty-twoAshley arrived at the conference meeting she was having with Liam's company. Today was the final day. The board members began to enter gradually and in no particular order. Ashley stood up and pitched her latest development. She was received with applause as soon as she was done. She smiled all through. Her stomach fluttered with butterflies seeing Liam watch her closely. She finished and stepped down, taking her seat confidently. Liam stood up and addressed the team as soon as the meeting ended. Everyone began to leave the meeting gradually. Ashley was about to find her way out of the building when Liam stopped in front of her. “If you don't mind let me take you home”, Ashley's first response was to accept but she gathered herself and managed to speak. “No, thank you”, But Liam wasn't ready to go. “Please…let me”, he asked again. She couldn't hold it anymore as she accepted. “Fine”, she responded. She entered into his car letting silen
Chapter One hundred and forty-one. Ashley was lost in deep thought about what her sister had just told her. She was mad at herself for reacting in such a manner. What was she thinking? She couldn't disagree that she had totally lost it. For the first time she accepted that there wasn't going to be a reason for Liam to accept her back. She had allowed her emotion to take control of her and messed up everything so badly. She allowed herself to mourn the love which could have been but didn't exist. Whatever it was she cried herself to sleep most nights and wallowed in self-pity. Chloe noticed but allowed her to grieve as much as she could. Emily and Rosie also called to check up on her. She informed them she was alright although it was a lie. She tried her best to focus her attention on the project she had. When she was done, she showered and dressed in clean clothes and found her way to the company. She was glad because the contract was a big one and she needed the money to
Chapter One hundred and forty She couldn't hold it anymore as she found her way to Liam’s place to try to amend their relationship. When she got to his place. The door opened, and her heart dropped as she stood face-to-face with him again. She was shocked to see her sister standing in front of her. “Chloe!”, she exclaimed. “What the hell are you doing here?.”She was about to speak when Lucas interrupted her. “Ashely!” he exclaimed, looking shocked, and angry? “What is she doing here ?” Ashley asked. “No, Ashely. That’s not the question here. The question is, what are you doing here? What do you want?” he asked, his voice edgy. She was dumbfounded. How could he ask her that question? “I came to see you,” she answered weakly, not knowing what else to say. Chloe spoke next. “I’ll give you two some space,” She said, walking into the house. Her heart shattered into a million tiny pieces. If someone had told her that her sister would betray her she would be the last person to b
Chapter One hundred and Thirty-nine. The next day Ashley found herself in Liam’s place. She agreed with her sister's advice to not give up easily on their love. She knocked on the door holding a bouquet of flowers ready to pour her heart to him when he came out. She was speechless for a moment as she stood in front of him. “Hello, Liam”, she voiced out. “Hello”, he responded with little or no enthusiasm. “I am sorry, Liam… I really am.”“It doesn't matter anymore, don't you get it?”, Ashley tightened her fist into a fury. Why did he have to act so nonchalant? She swallowed hard not knowing how to plead with him to accept her. When a thought crossed her mind. She had no option but to find her way to Emily's house. She was sure that he was going to listen to them. She arrived there and knocked at the door. Soo-jin opened the door for her. She hugged her tightly as they exchanged pleasantries. “It's been a while…you are a big girl now”, Ashely remarked. Emily came out hear
