Margot's POV

I kept my eyes glued to Nathan as he offered me a surprised look.

" I just said that none of your projects would work. Your calculations are incorrect. But do not worry. It is nothing that could not be fixed. I can help you with that if you want."

" I do not need your help," I replied dryly, slowly shaking my head.

Nathan glanced at me with concern. " I did not mean to offend you," he spoke softly, and I could tell he meant it. "I should not look at those, but I could not help myself. You always had such a bright mind."

" I bet you couldn't," I mumbled quietly, still stunned by his discovery. How could I explain what was bothering me? How could I tell him he was the reason for all of that? Especially now, when all my effort seemed pointless.

I was fully aware of those mistakes in the calculation since I made them intentionally to prevent myself from being stolen from people who might use my work as their own. To protect myself from people like Nathan.

  • One Night Stand with the Enemy   Chapter twenty seven

Third-party POV" Well..." Pen twitched in my hand under Mr. Reed's watchful gaze. My forehead was covered with tiny drops of sweat. The conference room became unnaturally warm. " Go on, honey, don't be shy." Vikki placed her hand on my shoulder in an encouraging gesture, but all I wanted right now was to be far away from here. This was supposed to be my big day, a once-in-a-lifetime chance to become someone. I could not blow it. I took a deep breath, hoping Mr Reed would blame my nervousness on stress. " All the projects I presented to you earlier are going great. We are running the last tests to make sure they will be flawless," I managed to keep my voice steady and professional. " I do not want to disappoint you or your investors." Mr Reed fixed his glasses and leaned back on his chair. " Good. I do not want any mistakes. I have put a lot of faith in you." His tone was calm, but I had heard a threat hidden under those studied words. This man was not someone to be trifled with.

  • One Night Stand with the Enemy   Chapter twenty six

Nathan's POV.I froze, stunned, as I watched Margot gather her things in panic. Her eyes were wide open, and her hands were trembling while she frantically picked pieces of her clothes. What had just happened? A moment ago, I had the best s*x of my life, and now the woman whom I secretly admired for years seemed scared, ashamed. I could not tell. In a different situation, I would find it funny, but now, I was far from laughing. Margot shot me a glance and shook her head as if she had some internal conversation that did not go well. " What are you doing?" I managed to ask, running my hand through my hair. I was still naked, but I couldn't care less. Not at the moment like this. Margot shuddered as if my voice were painful to listen to. She said nothing, returning to dressing up. "Say something, for God's sake," I said, standing up from my bed. I wrapped myself with a sheet and took a step closer, trying to put my hand on her arm. The one I had kissed not so long ago. She flinched u

  • One Night Stand with the Enemy   Chapter twenty-five

Margot's POV Nathan placed me gently back on the bed and took a step back. " Are you sure about that?" He asked, and I only gave him a weak nod, too scared to speak. I did not trust myself right now. Nathan's eyes darkened as he got closer to me. His palms brushed against my skin like a feather, sending me shivers. I bit my lower lip, glancing at him. Nathan tensed under my stare, but a gentle smile curled on his lips. He lowered his head, searching for my lips. I raised my head and met him halfway. Nathan wasted no time and pushed his tongue inside my mouth, tasting me. We kissed for a while, but I wanted more. I grabbed his shirt with my shaking hands. My palms met his hard muscles. Nathan parted his lips from mine, almost making me whimper. " Let me help you," he chuckled, removing his shirt. I swallowed hard, staring at his V-line disappearing under his jeans. Nathan's skin was perfectly tanned. " Your turn," he winked at me, and I found myself blushing. " Unless you want m

  • One Night Stand with the Enemy   Chapter twenty four

Margot's POV My heart was pounding as I watched Nathan’s shocked expression. I sat on the bed, observing him. " What?" He asked again as if unsure of what I had just said. " You have heard me," I replied, sitting straight. " I want you to make love to me." My head was spinning, partially because I had too many drinks and partially because of what I had just offered. For the last thirty minutes, I have been pretending to be asleep just to enjoy Nathan’s presence. It felt wrong, yet it felt so right at the same time, and it confused me. His warm embrace was so sweet and calming. My skin still burned where he touched me, but I only craved for more. " Why?" His question had taken me aback. " What you mean, why?" I asked carefully. " Why do you want to do it?" Nathan looked straight into my eyes. " Don't you want it?" He shook his head, and my heart sank. I read those signs wrong. I made a fool of myself. " I want it, but I want it for the right reason,"

  • One Night Stand with the Enemy   Chapter twenty three

Nathan's POV I looked at Margot, who was peacefully sleeping on my bed. I could not take her back to her since she was too wasted to be left alone. Since she fell asleep in my car, I took the liberty of deciding where we should go. Besides, in my house, I could look after her. Her face was partially hidden in shadow, as her hair covered it. I came closer and gently removed one of the strands. Her face was calm and sweet. She was snoring slightly, which I have found adorable. I have pulled the blanket over her shoulders, making sure she is warm. When I tried to move away, Margot stirred in her sleep. " Come lie with me," she mumbled with her eyes still closed. I froze in a spot, unsure of what to do, but then she repeated. " Please, lie with me." I knew I should reject her plea, but I did not want to do it. I lay next to her, keeping her wrapped in the blanket like an adorable burrito. Margot mumbled something under her breath, but it was too quiet to understand.

  • One Night Stand with the Enemy   Chapter twenty two

Margot's POV The more I thought about the events of the last couple of weeks, the more lost I felt. Everything I knew fell into pieces. Things I always took for granted were no longer there. People I knew became strangers, and I doubted everything in my life. I was slipping into a state of depression. My phone rang, and I saw it was my mother. A small smile curled my lips upward. At least some things remained unchanged. " Hello, Mom," I picked up, trying to sound cheerful. There will still be time for a sob story. Now, I only wanted to hear her voice. My greeting met the dead silence. " Mom? Are you there? Is everything okay?" " I should be the one asking this." Samanta, my mother replied slowly. I curled inwardly. This tone always meant trouble, and now, I had enough on my plate. " What are you talking about?" My tone was calm, but inside, I was shaking. " You raise a child, hoping it will become a good person. You put a lot of effort into teaching it what is good
