Erin’s POV “I need to go home,” I say, breaking the embrace from Gavin. “Henry will be wondering where I am…” “Will you tell him about us?” He finally asked the question that’s been lingering in his mind. I lowered my gaze to the ground. “There’s nothing to tell him…” “Why do you keep denying me?” Gavin asked, cupping my chin under the palm of his hand, and bringing my gaze to his. “Why won’t you admit that…” “Admit what? That I love you? You know why…” I say to him, pulling away. “I need to go. I’m sorry if this isn’t the response you wanted. But it’s all I can give you for right now.” His hand fell to his side, and I could see the sadness in his eyes; it broke my heart to see him like this. I wanted to run back into his arms and embrace him, but I refrained from doing so. I thought he would argue with me, but he watched as I got into my car. I sat in my car for a moment before driving away; maybe there was a part of me that hoped that he would stop me. But he didn’t. He watc
Henry’s POV Henry’s heart shattered at the sight of Erin and Gavin kissing in the middle of the parking lot at the restaurant. He knew how Erin felt for Gavin and he knew there was still something going on between them. But seeing it was different than suspecting it. Now he knew for certain that Erin hasn’t been truthful with him when she says that it was only one time and that it didn’t mean anything. Her body was wrapped in his broad and tight embrace. She looked comfortable; like they have done this a thousand times before. His heart ached. There was a part of him that wanted to clear his throat loudly and make himself known to them. They had yet to notice him, so seeing their faces when he makes himself known, might be humorous in a dark and twisted kind of way. But there was another part of him that was telling him to just leave. That was part of him he listened to. He said nothing as he turned away from them and went back into his car. He didn’t leave right away though;
Erin’s POVWhen I woke up the next morning, I didn’t like the way I felt.My heart ached terribly.I shouldn’t have left things off with Gavin the way I have.Having that dream last night really messed with my mind.I looked over at my phone that sat on my bedside table, and I saw that there were no missed calls or texts. He must have been so upset with me.I couldn’t imagine what was running through his mind.I ignored the nagging feeling in my chest and made my way out of bed, grabbing my robe that hung on the wall nearby my bed. wrapping it around my body I made my way out of the room and into the living room.Henry wasn’t home.I frowned and glanced around the seemingly untouched room.Where was he? I thought about calling him, but then I thought against it.He probably didn’t want to hear from me anyways. I decided to make something quick for breakfast; I had some time before I needed to be at work.I grabbed a frosted pop tart out of the cabinet and placed it in the toaster.It
Erin’s POVThe two glasses I was holding shattered to the ground, alerting the attention of everybody in the restaurant, including Henry and Susanna.They both turned to stare at me with wide eyes; Henry with more concern and Susanna with more humor.My heart was beating heavily in my chest as I stared between the two of them.I couldn’t have heard them correctly.Did she just say she was pregnant? With Gavin’s baby? “I… I’m sorry…” I said, turning away from them quickly and hurrying toward the bathroom.Suddenly, my stomach was turning itself outward and I wasn’t feeling so good.“Erin?” I heard Kelsey from behind me; though, her voice sounded distant.I didn’t turn around or stop moving.I was pleased that my stomach waited until it was the closed compacity of the stall before it gave out. I hunched over the toilet and released its contents.Deep breathing, I tried to steady my rapid heartbeat.I heard the clicking of shoes on the hard surface, entering the bathroom, making my ent
Gavin’s POVGavin felt like he couldn’t even move. He couldn’t have heard her correctly.Susanna couldn’t have been pregnant. He hasn’t touched her in over a month; he would have known by now if she was actually pregnant.No. Something doesn’t add up.Susanna was manipulative and would do anything to get what she wanted; he knew that much. There was no way she was pregnant.“As I said, you should talk to her,” Erin said as she turned away. Gavin knew there was nothing he could do to get her to stay with him; he watched as she walked toward her car, disappearing through the shadows.He came here to tell her that he was going to end things with Susanna once and for all but it looked like he wasn’t going to get that chance.The feeling he had at that moment was the same feeling he had the night Erin broke up with him.She also had the same look on his face. He had really fucked up this time.…Erin’s POVI couldn’t look at him.Why did it hurt this badly?I knew things with Gavin an
Gavin’s POVThis couldn’t have been happening.Word has already gotten back to the packhouse about this pregnancy. Beta Seth was exceptionally happy about this news.“I’m glad you finally came to your senses and decided to do something about Miss Susanna,” he said with a proud smile.“I didn’t do anything with her,” Gavin growled furiously, shocking Seth to his core. “I don’t believe she’s telling the truth.”“Miss Susanna wouldn’t do something like that,” Seth said, shaking his head. “How could she even fake a pregnancy…?”“I don’t know, but I’m going to find out,” Gavin said in return, going toward his office.He no longer wanted to speak about this matter.He was always careful when having sex with Susanna.He only slept with her a couple of times; both times he wore a condom and both times he didn’t even finish.He shook his head at the thought. He didn’t want to think about fathering any kid that Susanna had.But of course, if it were true, then he would protect that kid at all c
Erin’s POVI drove straight to Gavin’s packhouse; I didn’t even care if I’m spotted by those in his pack. This was way too important to not tell him about it right away. He needed to know what he was up against.As soon as I entered the packhouse, I froze.Standing before me was a very angry Susanna.…Gavin’s POVGavin could smell the scent of outsiders from miles away. His pack was usually the most protected; out of all packs, he had the most gammas, and he had the strongest force. Nobody would dare to invade his territory and rummage for supplies while Gavin was in charge.Yet, somebody was.As soon as word got out that there was a pack invasion in the area, Gavin knew he needed to be on the scene and assess the situation for himself.Gavin had the biggest land around the kingdom, so it took a little while to reach the point of invasion. He traveled in his wolf form along with his comrades, including his Beta.Ahead of him, he could see the wolves from the Darkmoon pack.They were
Erin’s POVThere was instant regret on her face.I watched the life draining from Susanna’s eyes. Her face had gone completely pale, and her entire body trembled as she clutched the knife, deeper into her stomach.Her perfectly white blouse was painted red with her blood, pooling to the ground around her feet. She gasped as she tried to contain her breath, but it was being drowned out by the sounds of her gargling the blood that was forming in the back of her throat, oozing out of her mouth, and staining her fair features.She hit an artery and was losing blood at a quick rate.I raced toward her, clutching the knife in my hands as she fell into the ground, painting the rest of her body in the pools of blood.The feeling of death lurking around the corner haunted me; I had felt it many times before when I lost those close to me. Susanna wasn’t close to me, but I certainly didn’t want to watch her die.I knew if I were to remove the knife from her stomach, I would have to act fast. As
