Emily and Cassie chatted happily as they returned back to their offices, feeling as though there were some sort of connection between them. Cassie trod back to her office looking abashed and furious. Her bossâ words stung her, spiking deep into her flesh like a sharp knife. She pushed the door violently and went in, leaving it ajar. She bent over to clear her desk with a speed almost faster than that of light. She could feel her heart palpitating as small droplets of sweats formed on her smooth and flawless skin. Emily arrived at the company earlier than usual that morning. A sharp twinge of anger and disappointment fluttered in his stomach as he stared at his screen in disbelief.
