Mia Miller.
I put on a coat, hid my hair under the hood, and slipped out unnoticed, following Ethan and his men through the night. I was determined to find my son, and nothing would stop me. If he really thought I would stay behind, he was wrong.
He didn’t know me.
I quietly took one of Ethan’s cars from the garage.
Driving as carefully as possible, I kept a safe distance from Ethan’s car and the others. Their taillights were my only guide, and I prayed no one would look in the rearview mirror and see me following. At every turn they took, I mirrored their movements cautiously, trying not to raise suspicion.
Fear clung to me like a shadow. What if Ethan discovered me? What would he do? I knew he was dangerous. But that fear wasn’t enough to stop me. My love for my son was stronger.
After some time, they finally stopped in a deserted area, surrounded by dense, dark trees. I waited for a moment before pulling over at a safe distance and turning off the headlights. I scanned my surroundings, making sure no one was nearby, then stepped out of the car.
“Where the hell did they take my son?” I whispered, eyeing the awful place.
Lorenzo was only two years old. I was sure this had something to do with his father. That bastard.
My hand instinctively reached for the knife I had hidden at my waist. It was the only thing I had to protect myself, but honestly, I didn’t feel safe with it.
As I approached the warehouse, I could hear voices, though I couldn’t make out what they were saying. I was scared, but the image of Lorenzo—lost and alone—gave me the strength to keep going.
A desperate mother was capable of anything. And besides, I didn’t trust Ethan...
And I never would.
Following Ethan and his men, I moved cautiously through the forest, each step meticulously calculated to avoid making noise. The air around me was heavy with tension, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong. The silence was unsettling, broken only by the occasional rustle in the distance or the muffled voices coming from the warehouse.
As I got closer to the group, I noticed that the atmosphere seemed to shift. The shadows moved in eerie ways, and a chilling sensation ran down my spine. That was when I saw something that nearly made my heart stop.
One of the men with Ethan began to change. His skin stretched and twisted in impossible ways. In an instant, he was no longer human. Where a man had stood just moments ago, now there was a massive wolf, its eyes glowing like embers in the darkness. My body froze, my eyes wide in horror as I watched the transformation, unable to believe what I was seeing.
“What the fuck is this?!” I almost screamed but quickly covered my mouth.
My heart pounded, my entire body trembling uncontrollably.
I was terrified, absolutely certain I was hallucinating. This couldn’t be real. Men didn’t turn into wolves. That was impossible. And yet, I had just witnessed the impossible.
My hands were sweating so much that I could barely hold the knife at my waist. Even so, I didn’t stop. I couldn’t stop. I had to keep going. Lorenzo was in there, and he needed me.
Taking a deep breath, I forced my feet to move, even though every cell in my body screamed at me to run. I followed the men, moving even more slowly now, my entire body on high alert. The feeling of being watched wouldn’t leave me.
Suddenly, something grabbed me from behind. A strong arm wrapped around my waist, pulling me into the darkness. I screamed, but the sound was muffled by a heavy hand clamping over my mouth. My body struggled, my heart hammering against my ribs.
“Shut the fuck up, bitch,” he growled.
I thrashed, but the man’s strength was overwhelming. He dragged me away from the group, to a place where no one could see us. This was it.
Oh my God, what had I gotten myself into?
Before I could fully grasp what was happening, I heard a sharp, sickening sound. The man holding me collapsed to the ground with a dull thud. Gasping, I turned and saw Ethan standing over him, his face twisted in fury and determination.
“Are you insane?” Ethan hissed, his eyes burning with rage. “You could have died, Mia! I told you to stay home, are you stupid?!”
“I…”
Still trembling, I tried to find my voice, but nothing came out. All I could think about was the creature I had seen, the horrifying transformation still burned into my mind.
“You could’ve ruined everything, Mia. Next time you disobey me, I’ll let you die.”
How could he say that? He was a monster—cold and cruel. His eyes held no emotion. His hands were warm, yet they sent chills through me.
He terrified me.
“I needed to see my son. I needed to be here.”
“Your problem is that you’re stubborn. You mess up everything. You never told me I had a son. You let him get kidnapped, and your father died because you’re a fucking idiot!” he shouted.
His words cut through me like a blade. My eyes burned with unshed tears.
What if Ethan was right? What if all I did was make mistakes?
“Look… This isn’t the time to argue!” he snarled, snapping me out of my thoughts with his cold, sharp tone. “We’re close to finding Lorenzo. If you want to help, shut up and follow my orders. Now.”
I nodded quickly, my body still trembling from fear and adrenaline. Ethan was right. There was no time to fight. I was terrified, but Lorenzo was close, and I would do anything to hold him in my arms again.
Of all the things that had happened in a matter of seconds, the image of that man turning into a wolf couldn’t be real.
The supernatural world didn’t exist.
Mia MillerI couldn’t close my eyes all night. Every time I felt like I might finally fall asleep, Lorenzo came to my mind. When the sun rose, my stomach turned. I hadn’t been able to eat anything since that damned kidnapping.A knock at the door interrupted my thoughts.“Miss Mia,” the middle-aged woman entered the room with a breakfast tray. “Alpha Darius asked me to bring this to you.”“I don’t want to eat, thank you.”“Miss, those are your father’s orders. Please, eat something,” she said, looking at me.I stared at her. Her eyes seemed sincere. And if I wanted to escape this place, I had to eat. I needed to be strong.“Thank you.”“Claire,” she said with a smile. “That’s my name. If you need anything, just call me.”She seemed like a good person.I devoured the breakfast tray. I was starving. Then I heard footsteps coming toward the room I was in.It was him. The Alpha of Silverclaw. Darius—my biological father. He was tall, with brown hair and tanned skin. His body was ripped, l
Mia MillerMy eyes are blindfolded. I can’t see anything, no trace of where I might be. I only know that I am in a moving car, and I want to get out of here. I try to scream, but I feel weak; he sprayed something inside the car as soon as I got in. I clasp my hands together and ask... if the Moon Goddess, who they always talk about in the pack, really exists, to save me from this and take me back to Lorenzo. The car stopped abruptly. I felt the weight of the silence around me, except for the sound of my rapid heartbeat. Still with my eyes covered, fear coursed through my veins like poison. The doors opened, and I immediately felt rough hands pulling me out, without any gentleness.“Let me go!” I tried to scream, but my voice came out weak. The substance he used in the car still made me dizzy, my body felt slow and heavy. I was dragged over what seemed to be dirt ground. I could hear the rustling of leaves beneath my feet, the wind shaking the trees. Was it a forest? The scent of wolves
Mia MillerThat kiss awakened feelings in me that I thought had died. I knew it was forbidden, I knew he wasn't right for me. That everything was a mistake. But they always told me that the forbidden was more enticing. And even though I knew the Alpha wasn't the person who would make me happy, I gave myself completely. His touches… his warm mouth on mine. Skin on skin. I didn’t know how to react to all of it. On that terrace, naked, looking at the moonlight, I couldn’t think of anything bad. Only the present moment. His fingers were sliding down my body, caressing my waist. I felt something different, like a primitive instinct I didn’t even know existed was taking over me. I was a wolf. And it was hard to accept that. I was in denial. But when I smelled his scent, I forgot everything. While we looked at the starry sky, I broke the silence.“What do you feel for me?” I let the question slip out.“What kind of question is that now?” He smiled faintly.“Just answer, Ethan.”He stood up,
Ethan Greenwood. I hated the feeling of being pressured. Alphas were made to give orders, command, and control their pack, not be pressured.I was in one of the offices inherited from my father. We were respected throughout the city because my father had many businesses here, and all the wolves, humans, whoever they were, respected the Greenwood name. This situation would never have happened with my father. The feared Alpha. For a long time, I thought I was like him. But if I had to choose between marrying a she-wolf I couldn’t stand and protecting my son, I would choose the latter."Alpha." Nick entered the office with the phone in hand."What is it?" I stared at him."The leader of the pack wants to talk to you, Ethan."Oh no... What does that son of a bitch want?I grabbed the phone from the beta’s hands quickly. I was ready to tell him a few choice words."What do you want?" I said through gritted teeth."Is that how you talk to old friends, Alpha Greenwood?""We’re not friends.
Mia Miller "So I have to know how to dodge several wolves in a possible attack?" I ask, leaning toward Ethan."If you want to stay alive, yes," he whispers. The training with Ethan continued. I had been trying to avoid him, but it was impossible. He was the father of my child, and we lived in the same environment. As much as I wanted to avoid him with all my heart, I couldn’t.We paused the training to catch our breath. I glanced at him from the corner of my eye. His sweaty body revealed his perfectly toned abs, and his hair was almost wet with sweat. It was hard to look at Ethan Greenwood without wanting him."When can I go back to the city?" I asked, breaking the silence between us."As soon as it’s safe," he said in monosyllabic words."The people... Well, the wolves here don’t like me, Ethan. And they make that pretty clear. And then there’s Amber.""You care too much about others, Mia. What matters is that I’m the Alpha, and I’m in charge here. You’re the mother of my firstborn.
Mia MillerI think more painful than loving someone and having it go wrong is liking someone and knowing, deep down, that it will never work. This was the suffocating feeling that surrounded me every time I looked at Ethan. He was in all my thoughts, every second of my day. Ethan was the first thought when I woke up, and the last when my head touched the pillow at night. Even though everything in me screamed to stay away, to protect myself from a feeling with no future, I couldn’t. He was a jerk, selfish, and yet, irresistibly a part of me.How did I let this happen? At first, it was supposed to be just one night. A damn night. Nothing more. I went into his arms seeking comfort, trying to escape the pain caused by Collin’s betrayal. But somehow, everything turned into this—a tangle of complicated emotions, a confusion of desires and resentments. Now, I was trapped, connected to him in a way I could never undo.My gaze shifted to Lorenzo, playfully messing with his toys on the floor. T
