MasukThe black armored car was waiting, the engine growling softly. Blade swiftly opened the rear door, while Marvel signaled to two other escort vehicles to be ready to follow.
Leonel stepped into the car, sitting upright with a dark expression. His hands clenched on his knees, containing the storm of anger within him. “If Jeslyn gets even the slightest scratch, I will destroy every single one of them!”
Blade sat in the front, glancing briefly through the rearview mirror. “Sir, we can take an alternate route to get ahead of them. The reconnaissance team has tracked the positions of the vehicles tailing her. They’re moving slowly, waiting for the right moment.”
“There’s no moment for them. I will decide the outcome of this game,” Leonel said coldly.
The car sped through the dark night. Snow swirled in the wind, and streetlights flashed by in rapid streaks.
Meanwhile, inside Jeslyn’s car, she sat alone in the back seat, staring out the window. Her eyes were weary, her lips tightly pressed together. She had yet to realize the danger lurking behind her. Her mind was still clouded with anxiety, trying to find calm in the villa that had always been her refuge.
Jeslyn glanced at the rearview mirror—several cars were chasing her.
“Who are they? Are they after this car?” she murmured, suddenly alarmed.
She gripped the steering wheel tightly with both hands. The snowy road was slippery, but she pressed the accelerator harder. Through the mirror, she could see the headlights closing in.
“Why won’t they stop following me?!” she muttered in panic, her lips trembling.
Her breathing grew rapid. She tried to calm herself, but her heartbeat became wild. The first car behind her overtook on the left, attempting to cut her off. Instinctively, Jeslyn swerved to the right, tires screeching as her body nearly lurched sideways.
“No, no… I can’t stop here!” she whispered, her voice trembling as she forced herself to stay strong.
Two other cars approached from the opposite direction. Their spotlights flashed brightly, almost blinding her. Jeslyn panicked further, eyes darting for an opening.
“God, what do I do?” she whispered, anxious and terrified.
Her hands were sweaty, yet she pressed the accelerator harder. Her car tore through the snowstorm while shadows of danger closed in, cutting off every escape route.
Meanwhile, Leonel, en route to Jeslyn’s location, received a report from Marvel.
“Sir! Miss Jeslyn’s car is being ambushed! They’re trying to trap her on the main road.”
Leonel’s eyes burned with rage. He leaned forward. “Accelerate! No matter who they are, tonight they will regret touching my woman!”
Leonel’s car roared, hurtling at full speed through the night and snowstorm.
Jeslyn gritted her teeth, trying to stay focused. Her body trembled, but her eyes stayed locked on the road ahead.
She held the steering wheel so tightly that her knuckles turned white. The road narrowed, dark trees lined both sides, and the cars behind her pressed close, their high beams adding to the mental pressure.
“No, don’t stop, Jeslyn. Don’t stop!” she whispered, swallowing hard as she struggled to evade the attackers, despite her car swerving dangerously.
Suddenly, one of the enemy cars overtook rapidly from the right, cutting in front. Jeslyn panicked, swerving to the left, tires skidding over the snow. Her body wobbled, but she regained control. Her heart pounded violently.
Other cars tried to block her from behind, clearly aiming to trap her.
Jeslyn glanced at the rearview mirror, eyes wide with terror. “W-what do they want from me?” she murmured.
Her hands shook, but she pressed the gas pedal harder, searching for a gap.
At the same time, in the speeding black car, Leonel received another report from Marvel.
“Sir, they’re about to trap Miss Jeslyn’s car at kilometer 27. If she doesn’t find an escape, her car will be stopped!”
“Move, Blade!” Leonel commanded sharply, his tone like a whip.
Blade pressed the accelerator fully, the engine roaring as the speedometer needle climbed dangerously. The armored car surged forward, shaking violently as it tore through the snowy road.
Leonel stared straight ahead, jaw clenched. “If they dare touch Jeslyn, I will execute them myself.”
Jeslyn was cornered. The car in front intentionally slowed, blocking the road, while two others flanked her, leaving no space to maneuver.
Her heart raced, hands trembling on the wheel.
“I have to call the police,” she muttered, trying to pull out her phone.
Crash!
“Ah!” Jeslyn screamed as the car was struck from the right side, sending her phone falling beneath the dashboard.
“Oh my God!” She nearly cried, focusing on driving while stretching her foot to reach the fallen phone.
She groped with her foot, hoping to retrieve it, but the car was hit again from the side. Her body lurched toward the door, nearly letting go of the wheel.
“No… not now!” she screamed, tears brimming in her eyes.
The rear cars flashed their high beams repeatedly, closing in aggressively. The car blocking her path slowed even more, as if deliberately trapping her.
Jeslyn panted. “God… I can’t get out of here.”
Her wheels skidded slightly on the icy snow. She panicked, hands slick with cold sweat. Then she spotted a narrow gap between the cars ahead and the roadside—a risky opening. One wrong move and she could skid into the snow-covered ravine.
Her eyes widened, heartbeat pounding. “This is my only way,” she whispered, gritting her teeth.
Crash! Another enemy car slammed into her left side. Jeslyn screamed, but it spurred her into action. She swerved right, pressing the accelerator fully.
Her car hit the snowy edge of the road, sliding sideways, but she managed to pass through the narrow gap.
“Oh God!” she screamed hysterically, her body nearly thrown forward, but she kept control.
Behind her, the screech of brakes and loud crash echoed as two enemy cars collided, failing to follow her maneuver. Yet one car still chased, speeding along its path.
At the same time, from the opposite direction, Leonel’s headlights appeared rapidly, like a lion ready to strike.
Crash!
A loud impact shook the snowy road. The enemy car was hurled to the left, crashing into a wooden fence, shattering it. Smoke rose from the hood, tires spinning uselessly.
Jeslyn slammed the brakes, the car skidding with a long screech over the icy snow. Her chest heaved, eyes wide with shock.
The armored black car door opened roughly. A tall, imposing figure stepped out, eyes sharp with anger.
“Leonel?” Jeslyn’s voice trembled, half-relieved, half-shocked. Tears streamed down her face, fear collapsing instantly.
Leonel approached Jeslyn’s car, his body a solid wall of protection. His men immediately surrounded and subdued the attackers.
“Get out, Jeslyn,” his deep, cold, yet decisive voice commanded. “You’re safe now.”
Jeslyn swallowed, fingers still stiff on the wheel, body trembling. She wanted to run to him but felt frozen.
Leonel stepped closer, yanking open her car door with a metallic screech. Their eyes met; Jeslyn’s body still shook violently, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Leonel removed his coat and wrapped it around her shivering form.
“Move to the passenger seat. I’ll take you to the villa,” he said flatly, but his eyes radiated a calm yet piercing intensity.
Without a word, Jeslyn moved to the passenger seat. Leonel took the driver’s seat, and before accelerating, he sent a message to Marvel:
“Marvel, handle everything. Don’t forget to give a reward to those who targeted my woman!”
“Yes, Sir.”
Leonel pressed the gas pedal, driving off toward Jeslyn’s villa, which was not far from there.

During the journey, Jeslyn occasionally glanced at Leonel, who was focused on driving.“Thank you for saving me,” Jeslyn finally spoke after a long silence.“Why were you out alone at night?” Leonel asked. “Were you trying to get yourself killed?” Though his question sounded sarcastic, Jeslyn knew he was genuinely worried about her.Jeslyn lowered her head, fingers clutching the edge of Leonel’s coat that now wrapped around her. She bit her lip, trying to hold back the sobs that still lingered.“I… I just needed some time alone,” she whispered. “I didn’t expect them to appear out of nowhere.”Leonel glanced at her briefly, his eyes cold. “Do you think this world is safe for you? Everyone knows who you are, Jeslyn. That means anyone could make you their target.”Jeslyn fell silent, her heart growing heavier. Leonel’s words sounded harsh, but she knew they were a real expression of concern.“If I had been even a minute late—” Leonel exhaled deeply, hands gripping the steering wheel. “I

“Marvel, have you investigated Varga and Arwin Holt?” Leonel asked, sitting in his large, imposing chair.“Yes, Sir,” Marvel replied.“What are the results?” Leonel inquired.“I couldn’t find those identities. However, there is a name of one of Jordan Valchev’s men with that alias,” Marvel explained.Leonel narrowed his eyes, his fingers tapping lightly on the armrest of his chair. A cold glint flickered in his gaze, signaling the rapid pace of his thoughts.“I see,” Leonel muttered softly. “Jordan is trying to infiltrate under an alias.”Marvel bowed slightly, then added, “It seems that the names Varga and Arwin Holt are being used as shields, Sir. Their true identities remain tightly hidden. However, there are records of fund movements leading to Valchev’s network. That cannot be a coincidence.”Leonel snorted coldly. “Jordan always operates from the shadows. He thinks I won’t notice. William and Dimitri clearly did this with Jordan’s help. They think I’m stupid!” His gaze fixed on
Leonel’s steps halted at the edge of the door leading to the rooftop. His gaze froze as he saw Jeslyn crying in Jefran’s embrace. His breath caught, as if a harsh hand were choking his throat. His heart felt both crushed and burned by jealousy and pain.Jeslyn didn’t notice his presence, nor did Jefran. Only the faint shadow of Leonel’s figure was illuminated by the rooftop lights.“So this is… the truth?” Leonel thought. His eyes burned red—not just from the cold snow but from the pain spreading rapidly through his chest.“I love Jefran.” Jeslyn’s words echoed in his mind again, like a knife piercing directly into his heart. He clenched his fists so tightly that his knuckles turned white. “Jeslyn…” he whispered softly. “I’ve been waiting for you all this time. My feelings for you never changed—the woman who gave me warm chocolate, who gave me warmth when I was lost and confused,” Leonel thought bitterly.“Why? Can’t you love me?” he asked himself, unaware that tears were forming in h
“Why did you bring me here, Jefran?” Jeslyn asked as they stood on the rooftop of the towering Clovies company building. The night sky was cold, and snowflakes fell gently to the ground.“There’s something I want to discuss with you, Jeslyn,” Jefran said, his gaze fixed on her.“What is it?” Jeslyn asked, looking at Jefran intently.“I can’t continue with our agreement plan, Jeslyn.”Thump.Jeslyn was clearly shocked to hear this from Jefran. She exhaled softly. “Why?”“I already told you, I don’t like this plan. You and Leonel keep clashing. How long will this go on, Jes?” Jefran asked.“Can’t you just ignore it?” Jeslyn shot back sharply.“No!” he answered firmly. “I know you love him, Jeslyn. We’ve known each other for a long time, we’ve been friends through school and college. I know you very well, Jeslyn,” Jefran explained.“So, now what do you want to know, Jefran? We’ve already discussed our personal matters—they should remain private. I also won’t interfere with your relations
“So, she’s the woman you like, Leo? Your cousin’s fiancée?” Clarissa asked, turning to Leonel.Clarissa gazed at him with a look of satisfaction, as if she had discovered the greatest weakness she could exploit anytime. Her tone sounded light, yet it was laced with a poisonous sweetness.Leonel turned slowly, his eyes cold, making his lips tighten slightly. “Don’t speak carelessly,” he said flatly, though his tone carried more weight than usual.Clarissa gave a faint smile, unafraid. “Why? I’m just guessing. But seeing the way you looked at her earlier… I don’t need to guess too far.” She chuckled softly, then leaned closer to Leonel’s arm, as if to assert that she was the one by his side now.Leonel stopped walking, jaw tightening. “Clarissa,” his voice low and warning, “never bring that up again.”For the first time, Clarissa’s expression shifted slightly. A flicker of surprise crossed her face, though she quickly masked it with a thin smile. “Alright, if it makes you angry, I won’t
