While I was drowning my sorrows with alcohol, I didn't realize how I fell into someone hands and how I ended up spending the night with him. But I never realized that he was. Jason Smith. Ver másThe rain poured down heavily non stop.
It has been raining for about an hour ago like a reminder of the incident that occurred few hours ago.
Mia rested her forehead against the corner of the window , her breathing was heavy but she tried to calm her by staring at the city below.
Her arms were wrapped tightly around a photo frame that she has kept for years.
In the photo, Marcus was smiling, his arm draped casually around her shoulders.
Marcus.
Just few hours ago, Mascus has called her and announced their break up.
At first, Mia thought that it was just a prank since that's what they usually do to tease each other.
But hell she was wrong.
At first she thought that something happened that made him to be upset or maybe he was drinking but it was all wrong.
Just about an hour of announcing their break up , her so called lover I*******m page lit up with multiple photos of her boyfriend and another girl.
At first she wanted to call him and scream her lungs out but then she finally rethinked. Afterall it'll make her stupid and make her look like a love sick puppy which would make Mascus look down on her more.
" She's really pretty ". Mia gritted her teeth afterall she couldn't deny the fact that the woman in the photo was ugly.
The woman in the photo was dressed in a white designers gown with high heels and her make up was top notch.
After sulking for about an hour she finally made up her mind.
" I just got dumped ". She thought outloud.
" I guess it's natural to do what heart broken usually does. It's high time I have some alcohol ". She thought.
Without hesitation, Mia booked a cab and drove to the nearest bar that was about thirty minute drive.
As soon as car stopped she instantly stepped out and pay the fees.
The instant she entered, a lot of gazes all turned towards her.
Mia was slightly shaken since most of the men were staring too hard with a wicked grin on their faces.
" I'm having a bad feeling about this ". She muttered to herself.
Yet she still took a seat across the room.
" Please mam. What do you care for ". The bartender asked.
"Whatever is strongest," she said, her voice raspy. "And keep them coming."
The bartender gave her a quick, assessing look, nodded, and slid a glass of amber liquid across the glass table.
He first brought a bottle of strong wine.
Without hesitation, Mia poured the glass to the brim with wine.
Without hesitation, she gulped everything.
Her eyes began to water due to the harshness of the wine.
She continued to pour herself more glass of wine without a care in the world.
She only want one thing.
" I just want to drown away my sorrows with these afterall that's the only way I can forget ". She thought .
While she was drinking to stupor. She didn't notice the two men who had been standing near the pool tables twenty feet away, watching her pull bill after bill from her purse to pay the bartender.
The taller one had a faded scorpion tattoo creeping up the side of his neck, his leather jacket worn at the elbows. The shorter one had his hair combed back and heavy gold rings on his knuckles. They had been whispering for the last twenty minutes, their eyes repeatedly darting to the lonely woman drinking alone in the back, her designer purse sitting half-open on the bench.
"Hey there, sweetheart," a coarse voice suddenly broke through Mia's thoughts.
Mia blinked, trying to focus her hazy vision. The man with the neck tattoo had slid into the booth right beside her, blocking her against the wall. The second man stepped up to the end of the table, leaning his heavy hands on the table effectively trapping her inside.
"Looks like you're having a rough night," the neck-tattooed man said, his breath reeking of beer and tobacco. He slid an arm along the back of the leather bench, hovering inches from her shoulder.
"A pretty girl like you shouldn't be drinking by herself in a place like this."
Mia’s pulse spiked, yet she tried to control her conciseness.
"I'm... I'm fine," she stammered, pulling her shoulder away and pressing herself against the wall. "I was just leaving."
She reached out to grab her purse and her box of belongings, but the man with the gold rings slid the box out of her reach, grinning with yellowed teeth.
"No need to rush off so soon," the second man said softly, leaning closer. "You've had a lot to drink. You can barely stand up, girl. Why don't we give you a ride home? We've got a car parked right outside in the alley."
"No," Mia said, her voice trembling now, the fog in her brain clearing just enough for cold panic to set in. She tried to slide out of the booth, but the man beside her grabbed her forearm with a grip like iron.
"Don't be rude," he murmured, his fingers digging into her bruised skin as he began to physically haul her up from the seat. "We're just being good neighbors. Come on."
Mia opened her mouth to shout for the bartender, but the shorter man stepped in close, blocking the sightline of the main bar area, while the man holding her arm pulled her roughly toward the dark emergency exit corridor at the back of the building. Her knees buckled, her heels sliding uselessly on the slick floor.
"Let go of me!" she gasped, trying to pull back, but her muscles felt like water.
The exit door creaked open.
Cold night air slammed into her face as the man pulled her .
"Keep your mouth shut and nobody gets hurt," the man growled, shoving her back against the brick wall.
Mia’s back slammed hard against the cold walls. She opened her mouth to scream, but a heavy, calloused hand clapped violently over her lips, cutting off her breath entirely.
The atmosphere on the 12th floor was thick enough to cut with a knife. The soft thud of Mia’s spilled coffee cup echoed in the dead silence of the office, but no one turned to look at her. Every single pair of eyes was glued to Julian Vance.Mia stood frozen, her heart was now racing." How's this possible? Why the hell is he here ". She muttered in panic.Julian’s gaze lingered on her face for two agonising seconds. His expression didn't change—it remained an unreadable, icy mask—but his eyes narrowed slightly, catching the stain on the carpet near her shoes before sweeping past her as if she were nothing more than a piece of trash to pass on."Mr. Henderson," Julian’s voice sliced through the silence, deep, commanding, and utterly calm. "Where is the chief archive auditor?"Henderson, the department supervisor, scrambled forward, wiping a bead of sweat from his forehead. "R-right here, Mr. Vance! Miss Mia Willow handles our primary record management and risk compliance archives."
Without hesitation she took a cab and drove out of that god forsaken place.By the time the cab pulled up outside the glass towers of Vance Enterprises, Mia had managed to pull her hair into a smooth, low bun and smooth down the lapels of her dark gray suit jacket. She swiped her badge at the turnstile and headed straight for the private breakroom tucked behind the 12th-floor archive office. She needed coffee. Strong, hot, black coffee. The glass door of the breakroom slid open, and the rich scent of dark roast hit her before she even crossed the threshold. Sitting on the counter with a steaming mug in one hand and her phone in the other was Lucy.Lucy was the head of internal communications, Mia’s closest friend in the building, and the only person who knew every pathetic detail about Marcus's sudden betrayal."Mia!" Lucy gasped, dropping her phone onto the counter the second she saw her. She scrambled off her seat, her eyes wide as she took in Mia's appearance. "Oh my god, where we
Mia woke up.She rubbed her eyes as she tried to rub away the remaining dizziness in her eyes She looked at the empty space beside her on the massive king-sized bed. The stranger was gone.Panic set in fast and sharp. Mia scrambled out of bed, grabbed her clothes off the floor, and dressed with shaking hands. She didn't want explanations. She didn't want an awkward morning conversation. She just needed to escape back to her normal, predictable life before this surreal mistake ruined whatever sanity she had left.As she pulled on her worn coat and stepped into her heels, a door down the hallway swung open.A tall man stepped into the open living area, wringing a small towel around his wet hair. He wore a crisp white shirt, the top three buttons undone, exposing his broad chest, paired with dark suit trousers. Fresh out of the shower, he looked broad-shouldered, impossibly sharp, and dangerously handsome. When his eyes landed on her standing near the front foyer, his expression flatten
."Keep your mouth shut," the man with the neck tattoo growled, his hand heavy over her lips.Mia’s head spun from the alcohol, but fear surged through her veins, sharp and terrifying. She thrashed against his grip, kicking out wildly, but her heels slipped. The second man stepped in, grabbing her wrists to pin them down, grinning as he reached for her coat button." We're going to have a fun night. Don't you think ". He grinned. His hands grabbed her boobs, and then he squeeze it so hard that it made Mia to groan." Hahaha! Just look at you. We're just getting started ". He grinned lustfully.Mia body trembled." please.. Please stop ". I begged "Hey!"A sharp, authoritative voice cut through the noise of the downpour. Before either man could react, a figure stepped into the dim light of the alleyway. High, broad shoulders framed in a dark tailored trench coat loomed over them. Julian Vance didn't look like a savior; he looked like a shadow carved out of stone."Get your hands off h
