Chapter 2

Autor: Sweetie Moore
But now, the countdown above Sebastian's head had vanished.

With nothing left to say, I could only lower my head and silently wait for my punishment. That way, I might be spared the worst of it. That was something I had learned the hard way.

The bodyguards who came with Kayla were taken aback by how meek I was and exchanged glances.

Some even began whispering among themselves.

"Is this really the same Mr. Reed? He used to be so charming and such a chatterbox."

"Why does he seem completely different now?"

"Oh, well. Serves him right for running his mouth and jinxing Mr. Miller."

As Kayla listened to them gossip, her gaze toward me grew even colder.

I immediately started groveling at their feet. I slammed my forehead hard against the wall. Even though I was dizzy and bleeding, I didn't dare stop.

If I wanted freedom, begging Kayla was my only chance.

The dull thud of my forehead hitting the floor echoed through the living room, over and over again. This was my last chance.

"That's enough!" Kayla finally exclaimed coldly.

I immediately stopped and looked at her timidly.

Kayla let out a scoff. "Isaac, you've finally learned how to behave, haven't you? If you'd been like this from the start, you wouldn't have ended up this way."

I crawled across the floor, gesturing that I was sorry and that I had messed up, silently begging her to let me go.

Kayla seemed to have understood what I was trying to say and curled her lips into a mocking smile. "Hmph! That's more like it.

"Since you've finally learned how to behave, I'd be happy to let you go. Of course, that's only if Sebastian's willing to forgive you."

The moment she said that, I immediately started begging Sebastian to forgive me.

Sebastian quickly stopped me, a faint smirk playing on his lips. "Isaac, you don't have to do that. I've already forgiven you. If you want to leave, be my guest. But my shoes are a little filthy…"

He deliberately stuck one foot out and tapped it against the floor, looking at me with a teasing smile.

I understood what he meant. Without hesitation, I crawled over to his feet. Just as I was about to wipe his shoes with my clothes, he pulled his foot away.

"These shoes are made from genuine Fatorian leather. You'll have to use your face to wipe them clean."

I froze. As I looked up, I met his mocking gaze. That was when I realized he wanted me to use my face to clean his shoes.

But I had no choice. Leaving this place was my only chance of getting revenge.

And so, I didn't hesitate at all. I crawled over and did as I was told.

The moment I finished cleaning his shoes, he suddenly took them off and set his feet on my neck. The lingering smell and warmth of his feet filled my senses as he pressed my head down.

Still, I closed my eyes and accepted it without putting up a fight.

I had put up with this kind of humiliation countless times, and I had already made a vow to myself. As long as I didn't die, everything I had been through would fuel my revenge.

Seeing that I didn't resist, Sebastian finally seemed satisfied with the outcome. He kicked me aside before putting his shoes back on.

"Yes. Looks like he finally knows his place."

Seeing that, Kayla shrugged and casually leaned against him. "In that case, you can come with us."

Still at their feet, I thanked them over and over again.

Kayla waved it off. "Go upstairs and pack your things. I want you to be just as obedient over the next few days."

I nodded frantically and slowly backed away.

With every step I took up the stairs, I did everything I could to contain my excitement.

I was finally getting out. I could finally leave this villa. As long as I made it out of here, I would have a chance to get my revenge.

As I went upstairs, I caught a glimpse of Kayla leaning against Sebastian's shoulder. Then I suddenly noticed a bright red "1" floating above her head.

My heart lurched as I put two and two together—Kayla only had one day left to live.

Something suddenly occurred to me.

Three months ago, Sebastian had a countdown above his head, yet he was perfectly fine now. And Kayla, who had been fine back then, had only one day left to live.

Could this have something to do with Sebastian?

Even though I didn't understand what was going on, none of that mattered for now. What mattered was that today was the day Kayla was going to die.

If someone had altered Sebastian's lifespan, then Kayla might not survive this time.

At the same time, Kayla had her sights set on me again. She took the initiative to text me an apology and even asked me out to dinner. As we ate, she made a point of trying to win me over again.I had spent ten years chasing after Kayla, and this was the first time she had given me her attention. Still, I didn't turn her down and allowed her to keep trying to win me over. Ashley thought I had fallen for Kayla's charms again, so we had a big fight. Right now, she was giving me the cold shoulder. Of course, I wasn't about to fall into the same trap twice. As I continued seeing Kayla, I got plenty of her family's secrets out of her. Kayla thought her charms had finally worked, so she started pestering me to remarry her. "I didn't know what was going on at the villa back then."It was Sebastian who hired those maids. I was so heartbroken when I found out what actually happened. You're the only person I've ever loved. You saved my life, remember?"Let's remarry. I promise I don't

Owen and Anna had worked so hard to get their hands on my assets, and now they were being asked to give them back. That had to hurt. But in the end, it came down to Kayla or their money. They would have to decide which mattered more. The longer they dragged it out, the more pain she would be in. Finally, two days later, Kayla took the initiative to call me. "I'll give you what you want. Come save me now… I can't stand this anymore."Even over the phone, I could tell she was struggling to speak, but I asked calmly, "And this is how you ask me for help?""What do you mean?" Kayla asked, clearly in pain. "Come see me, and bring me what I asked for." I ended the call immediately after.I had already found someone who could save Kayla, and he had only agreed to help me because of Kenneth. The man also warned me that changing someone's fate would come at a cost to him.As I had expected, an hour later, Owen and Anna brought Kayla to see me.Sitting in the wheelchair, Kayla was noth

Something suddenly occurred to Kayla, and her eyes widened. But she quickly denied it, clenching her fists as she stared at me with bloodshot eyes. "Sebastian would never do that to me. Never! Only you, Isaac. You're the only one who wants me dead."I leaned back comfortably in the chair next to her bed. "You can ask your family to look into it. Check if Sebastian secretly met with someone at Cloud Mountain a month ago. "And after that, you slept with him, didn't you? As time went by, you started feeling weaker and weaker…"For the first time, Kayla didn't argue with me. I left it at that. I decided to let her figure out the rest on her own.The easiest way for Sebastian to change his fate was to sleep with someone else. If Kayla had cared about me even a little and refused to sleep with him, she might not have ended up like this.Perhaps she had brought this on herself after all. After leaving the hospital, I had someone gather evidence that I had been abused at the villa a

Kenneth comforted me, "Don't worry, Isaac. I'm sure you'll make a full recovery. My granddaughter's a doctor. She can help you regain your voice within half a month."Ashley smiled and flashed me an OK sign. She even handed me a pen and some paper and said kindly, "If you have something to say, you can write it down here."With a nod, I wrote, "Thank you, but Kayla's dying. She only has one day left to live. I need you to help me look into Sebastian Miller."Kenneth asked me a few more questions, and I answered them all. That was when I found out that he was just like me. He could see the countdown to someone's death too. Kenneth even told me that a person's fate could be changed. It seemed Sebastian had found a way to change his. Kenneth had Ashley send someone to look into it and consult with experts in the field. As expected, they found out that Sebastian had used black magic to transfer his fate to Kayla.Emotion surged through me. So I was right. I wondered how Kayla wou

At that moment, everyone in the room panicked and hurried over to check on Kayla. But as the pool of blood beneath her grew larger, no one dared make a move.Sebastian was the one who remained calm. He ordered a few maids to carry Kayla downstairs and had another call an ambulance. Everyone was in a panic. After Kayla took over my family's fortune, she became one of the most powerful people in Jolville. She was an only child too. If anything happened to her, none of them would get off scot-free.As the ambulance sirens drew closer, everyone grew more frantic. A few carried Kayla out of the room, some went to open the door, and others went to meet the paramedics. No one noticed that I had slipped into the grotto in the garden and crawled out of a small opening.I had kept that as my final escape route, and I didn't dare use it unless I had to.If I failed to make my escape, the maids would capture me again and beat me even worse. Aside from that, they would tighten security arou

Memories of being tortured came flooding back. I instinctively dug my fingers into my palms, but I lowered my gaze and said nothing.Sebastian burst into laughter, came up behind me, and gave my head a hard smack. "I bet you didn't know this, but while they were torturing you, I was sleeping with your wife. That felt really good, you know. "I heard you haven't even slept with her. That makes sense. Kayla's never thought much of you. Why would she even let you touch her?"Sebastian let out a long sigh. "I'm just being honest. As a man, you're a complete failure. Isaac, I want you to prove that you've truly submitted to us."Drink this herbal medicine. It'll make sure you can never have children. Even though you probably can't get it up anymore, I think we should stay on the safe side, don't you think?"Sebastian picked up the bowl and brought it to my lips. I managed to suppress my fury, keeping my expression blank. Still, I refused to open my mouth. He let out a scoff and pre
