Turning, I saw this man. He had white hair with brown, almost black eyes. He towered over my 5’8 inch frame, but was slender. He was dressed in all black suit with a black tie and shoes. His clean-shaven face was staring daggers at me, but he was still smiling.
“Hello.” I said to be polite, but I was screaming on the inside for help.
“My name is Adron. I assume you are Ms. Ivory?”
“Yes. May I ask where you live at?” I was very much on guard talking to him. Glancing around, I tried to catch anyone’s eye.
He smiled and let out a chuckle. “Far, far away from here. I have been waiting a long time to meet you and since you are 18, my chance has finally arrived.”
“What do you mean by that? Waiting to meet me?” He was older, like my dad’s age, so what did he want with me?
“I must confess, I am your only blood uncle.” Adron dropped the bomb on me like it was just a normal conversation. I sucked in a deep breath and took a step back. His white hair, his face and body style… is this true? I was so shocked that I dropped my glass of wine and it shattered. Everyone looked over at me as I looked down at the broken pieces. Looking back up, Adron was gone, and I was standing here alone.
“Here, let me help you.” I heard a deeper, more velvety voice say beside me. Looking back down, I saw the most sexy man I have every laid eyes on. He was looking up at me with his green eyes, black hair slicked back and he was wearing a black suit but with a white shirt. His five o’clock shadow was perfectly accenting his chiseled jawline.
Finally, I snapped out of it, “Oh my! I am so sorry!” I bent down and with shaky hands, I started to pick up the glass. Unfortunately, I moved too fast and with the shakiness, I cut my finger on the glass.
“Ms. Ivory, you cut your finger. Please, let me help you and then I will get a bandage to clean up your hand.” He asked, but it was more of a command. There was power and authority behind those words. I was still really frazzled by what just happened, so I didn’t even argue. A waiter came over and took the glass from this mystery man. “Can you show me to the first aid station?”
I just nodded and led the way out of the tent and to the house. We didn’t say a word the entire way. He even held the door open for me as we walked inside and to the bathroom.
“Under the sink and on the left.” I said as I rested my hip against the counter. That caused my slit of my dress to open around my leg. I caught him glance over and clench his jaw tight as he kneeled down and got the first aid kit.
“Put your hand under some water for me to rinse off.” He instructed a little gruffly. The cold water stung a little, but I didn’t make a sound. My hands were still shaking as he grabbed them to scrub the blood off.
“Why are you shaking? What did that man want with you? You looked terrified.”
“I- he um, he introduced himself to me. Did you know who he was?”
“No, I have never seen him before, which surprised me. I make it a point to know everyone.”
Which reminded me, “And who are you?” I asked. I sucked in a breath as he found a piece of glass still in my hand. Grabbing the tweezers, he started digging.
“Alpha Jet Anderson, from the Red Mountain pack.”
That made sense. I have heard of him. He was supposed to be just as ruthless as my dad is. He is the largest pack, and the most feared. “That was nice of you to bring your pack all this way for the party.” I said lamely.
“Well, I haven’t found my mate either, so it was slightly personal reasons too.” He smirked as he finished cleaning my wound and putting a bandaid on it.
“Ivory?” I heard my dad call out.
“She is in here.” Alpha Jet called out. Dad came around the corner and looked at the scene on the vanity.
“She cut her hand on a piece of glass. I think I got it all cleaned up, and she is good to go.”
“Thank you, Alpha Jet, for fixing up my daughter.” Dad straight up and instantly became business when he realized who I was with.
“Of course. If you excuse me, I think I will return to get a bite to eat.” Alpha Jet looked at me and nodded once before turning around and leaving. I instantly felt empty, which was weird.
“Ivory, what happened?” Dad asked in a concerned voice.
“Dad, a guy came up to me. He said his name was Adron, and he said he was my blood uncle! He looked a lot like me!” I started shaking again. My mom came around the corner and looked concerned.
“Let’s enjoy the party and then we can discuss this tomorrow? I don’t want this to ruin your big day!” Mom said, faking happiness. I could tell she was very concerned.
I was going to argue but dad chimed in, “I agree with your mother. Let’s head back out there and enjoy the dance.” There was no arguing after that, so I just nodded and we headed back out to the tent. Looking around, I didn’t see Alpha Jet or Adron, so I just kept moving. We grabbed our plates and went to sit at the head table. Samantha was already sitting there, plate full, but untouched. It is impolite to eat before the Alpha and Luna do.
Dad and mom sat down and began eating so the rest of the tent dug in. The noise level died down as people eat and enjoyed their evening. I kept glancing around at everyone until I spotted Alpha Jet. He was standing off to the side with multiple women surrounding him. I watched him for a minute too long as he looked up and made eye contact with me. My face instantly blushed, and I quickly got back to my food.
“What was that?” Samantha whispered to me.
“I ran into a guy that was dead sexy, but he has too many girls around him to notice me. They are all so beautiful and I am, well… me.”
“Girl, you are the most beautiful person alive. I don’t know why you don’t see it.” Samantha had been telling me for years that, but I didn’t really believe her. I enjoyed spending time with nature and not in the gym.
“I am ready to get this dance started and let loose!” I said after a minute. I felt eyes on me and I looked up to see Alpha Jet staring at me. When we made eye contact, he held up his glass to me and took a drink.
“Who is that? Damn, he is sexy as hell!” Samantha caught this and followed my eyes.
“Alpha Jet. He fixed up my hand.” I said and held up my hand for Samantha to see the bandage.
“Girl! I just did your manicure!” she whined.
Laughing, I just leaned back and waited. A waiter walked over and sat a glass of red wine in front of me. “From Alpha Jet, Ms. Ivvy.”
That slightly embarrassed me, but I took it, anyway. Taking a sip, I glanced over at him, but he was focused on the girls, so I just ignored him.
The music started heating up, and the staff began clearing the tables. More people stood up and mingled now and the lights above the tent came on, giving a romantic vibe.
“So beautiful! Let’s dance!” Samantha said as she grabbed my hand and drug me away to the dance floor. We found our friends and started shaking our hips to the beat. I loved to dance and let lost in the music.
“Damn Ivvy! I forgot how good of a dancer you are! Sexy girl!” Molly slurred. Apparently, she was still feeling superb. It helped her loosen up and be more relaxed. She ended up putting her ass against Carter and rubbed on him as Paul showed back up with a random girl I have never seen before.
“I’m Sarah!” She yelled as she kept rubbing her ass on Paul. His hand was on her hips, keeping her close. Samantha and I smiled and introduced ourselves, but since we will probably never see her again, we didn’t feel the need to be over friendly. I felt eyes on me again so I looked up and saw Alpha Jet just staring again. I decided to have some fun and dance more sexually as I stared at him too. I saw his jaw clench again as he brought up a glass to his lips. Another man that was standing next to him, whispered something in his ear that caused him to look away.
The music changed and a slow song came on. Turning to leave the dance floor, I felt someone grab my hand, gently.
“If you don’t fuck him, I will!”
I about died of laughter. “Yeah, okay!” We both knew we were waiting for our mates.
We continued to dance the night away, and before we knew it, the music had stopped.
“Everyone, it is time! Please make your way outside and in a few minutes, the moon will be at its highest!”
My dad’s voice boomed across the tent. My nerves instantly shot up as Samantha and I made our way outside. There wasn’t a specific place to stand, but everyone that was unmated gathered in the middle and the mated stood off to the side to watch. Looking around, I didn’t see Alpha Jet anywhere. I felt a sudden disappointment that I couldn’t explain.
We all stood here for a few minutes and suddenly a hush came over us as we watch the moon drift into position. There was a shimmer that fell upon us that made everyone instantly put their nose and in air and sniff. So many people yelled mate! They took off trying to find who they smelled as their mate. I smelled nothing and sadness overcame me. As I turned to leave the field, someone bumped me into hard that caused me to trip. I was about to hit the ground, but a pair of arms circled around my waist, pulling me not only up, but against a hard body. A body that sent sparks crashing through my veins. Sparks that only a mate could give.
He lowered his head and against my hearing, I heard the voice of my mate, “Mine! Mate!”
Thank you all for reading Opal Eyed Luna! This has been a story that has sat in my mind for a year that I just needed to get out. However, as I wrote it, the story took a turn that I had not expected and it ended up being much longer than anticipated. Since I have read and recieved so much feedback about legnths of books, I have decided to make this part one with a possible part 2 if you readers enjoyed it! I am working on two others right now but I don't feel like I am ready to not see where Ivory and Jet go with her new job title! If you would like to see a book two, please let me know! I love hearing all your thoughts! As always, I do read each and every one of them. As much as I try to like or reply to them all, I have a toddler that I am trying to potty train so it is a little crazy in my house hold! My new book out is called Diamond Eyed Luna. That might be the last in this series, depending if I write a book 2 on this one. It is currently available and I will be posting regu
“We are here to serve you.” Their voice was like ice water running down my veins. “Why can’t Jet see you?” “We could allow him to if you wish?” “Yes.” “Holy moth-” Jet took a step back and wrapped his arm around me. “He is very much your boss as I am.” I said, wanting them to listen to him too. “Understood.” It was weird talking to them. “What is your role? What do you do?” I asked, trying to understand. “We are your servants. When someone needs to pass through, you signal us and we take them there. We are also your protectors. If danger is near, we will tell you.” “That is how Adron was able to always be a step head of us.” I said to Jet in the mind-link. “One of many ways.” Jet replied. “Can you take me to the underworld?” “Sure, if you wish.” One of them said. “However, you may not get to come back.” Another one said. “Why?” Jet asked. You could almost feel them shift their eyes to him. “You are still human. Portal is a one way unless you are a god. Since you are
There appeared to be a clear understanding from Spencer and Jameson. Calvin needed to go. His attitude was not that of a gamma, but of a cocky little shit. One second they were all looking at each other and the next, Calvin realised what was happening. “Whoa! Guys! Come on!” Calvin tried to plead his case as both men jumped him. Jameson took high as Spencer took low. Calvin surprised me with how much of a fight he put up. He managed to knee Spencer in the ribs and land a single punch to Jameson before he was officially knocked out. Once he was removed, it was just Spencer and Jameson. I was on the edge of my eat, trying to see who was winning. Jet was feeling rather anxious himself, which didn’t help mine. These men had trained together. Jameson had trained Spencer, so it was coach verse student. Spencer tried a submission move that Jameson counteracted. Jameson would go to deliver a combination, and Spencer would avoid it expertly. For five whole minutes, not a single blow was l
“Come on, it wasn’t that bad!” Jet was on the other side of my locked bathroom door. Humiliation and embarrassment filled me as I stripped naked and turned the shower on. I had fallen asleep before Jet was back. So, I was trying to make it up to him this morning, but the sexy lingerie I was trying to put on was not baby bell proof. It stuck out like a busted can of biscuits and even ripped the material. The worst part, Jet had walked into the closet to see where I had went and found me in front of the mirror. I was about to pull the one piece down but my stomach ripped a hole, my ass was eating the underwear and there wasn’t enough fabric to cover my nipple. It looked absolutely horrifying. To top it off, I was out of breath from trying to get into it. Jet’s eyes widened as he tried to hide a smile. So, naturally, I am hiding in the bathroom. It was easy to rip it off as my stomach had already started it. Dying of embarrassment was a true statement that never hit me so hard before.
“That was an exhausting day.” My ass was sore from riding Colt all day. It normally wouldn’t be but with this extra weight on my stomach, my posture was off. “Watching the obstacle course twelve times isss… rough. I got my twelve miles in today.” Wade sat down in the chair. Jet was wearing only was wearing his shorts. With his bare chest, it was hard to focus. These pregnancy hormones are no joke. Plus, it has been forever since we had sex. “Focus, afterwards we can do whatever you want.” Jet teased me in my mind. “ANYWAY.” I said, a little too loud. Jet smirked, and Wade looked slightly confused before choosing to ignore us. “Let’s just start at the top. Carol.” “She made quite a few mistakes.” Wade frowned as Jet pulled up the video of her running. “What is the scoring? Like five points per task?” I asked. “That would make 20 points total so that is good.” Jet said. “To start, she immediately stepped on a mine and got herself killed. She didn’t even look around to make s
Jet and I were angry as we exited our room. Not at each other, but the situation we were put in. I thought everything was behind us. We thought we could have a normal quiet life now with our pack and our child. Nope. Now we have to deal with this. What kind of toll is this going to take on me? On our child? “Whoa, that is some major aggression you both have today.” Susan said as we turned the corner into the foyer. Brent, Susan and Wade were waiting for us. I was a little surprised to see Susan. Ever since Megan was killed, she hasn’t come around much if it wasn’t about the baby. “Let’s get this over with.” Jet said as he kept walking past his family and towards the golf carts. Everyone had a surprised looks on their face as they watched him go and then turned and gave me a questioning look. “Later.” I said and followed him out, too. I couldn’t walk as fast, but I was happy to see Jet was waiting by the side of the cart to help me in. No one spoke as we made our awkward golf cart r
“Alright, we have our rankings!” Jet said as he held up his paper. “What are they?” I asked. Jet had kept the names to himself and just wrote the score down by the person. “There are a few ties, but here it is.” He laid it out in front of us. My eyes instantly went to find Jameson. He scored a 25 out of 30. A huge relief washing through me as I kept looking down the line. 19… 22…13… 26 wait? What? It was Carol. She scored one higher than Jameson on the critical thinking test. On the bottom of the paper, there was a list of each name from top ranking to bottom. Carol- 26Jameson-25Spencer-22Leroy- 22Peter- 21Calvin- 21Mark- 19Ethan-19Tyler- 19Anthony- 17Beau-15Dalton-13 “Interesting.” Wade said as he studied it. “Oh, this isn’t good for me.” Sitting down, the panic feeling started creeping back up. “Don’t worry. Jameson excels at obstacle courses. Actually, Leroy might give him a run for his money tomorrow. Even give Carol a heart attack.” Jet said as he grabbed a th
“Are we ready to go?” I was pacing in our office as Jet was finishing up each item on the critical thinking test. It had been a full week and I haven’t done anything but sit around and wait. Wait to go into labor, wait for Jameson to heal and even just wait for this tournament. There were a total of a dozen names on the paper. One female and the rest were males. “I’m finishing it now.” Jet said, slightly annoyed, but his patience was endless with me recently. I knew I was being a handful, but it was hard to relax. Susan had managed to get all the laundry done and put away, but there hadn’t been any progress in making a nursery. So I am worried about the nursery and worried about this tournament. I might have a heart attack before this is over. “You need to breathe.” Wade was sitting on the couch, watching me with a smile on his face. The fact that he found this funny was frustrating. “I’ll… I’ll… I’ll set you on fire!” I finally spit out at him. “We could put that in the obstacl
My feet were never so thankful to be wearing something so comfortable. I couldn’t imagine wearing heels or flats even. Not that I was full on waddling like Justina, but I could tell I was starting to get a sway. Jet gave me his arm to use as we made our way to the field. Brent and Wade had not shown up yet but I knew they weren’t that far behind. All the seats were filled. As we made our way to the front, I noticed everyone had mixed emotions about today. The thing is, I couldn’t tell if it was anger at me or anger at Jameson. There were some people crying, and some even looked happy. Happy his spot was open or happy because they didn’t like him? I couldn’t tell. “So many different emotions.” I commented in the mind-link. We had found our seats and sat down. Jameson and Samantha were standing ten feet from each other, with a baggy t-shirt. Samantha looked both scared and pissed off. Jameson just looked ashamed. “They hadn’t heard the full story, but rumors get spread. From what I
