CHAPTER NINE: Confrontation

Scott was standing before the French window in his office and staring blankly at the awesome view when his assistant, Andrew, walked in hurriedly. He turned with a scowl. "Can't you knock?"

"Sorry about that, sir. I wasn't thinking straight," Andrew immediately said with panic written all over his face.

With his frown deepening, Scott spun around to face him. "What's wrong?"

Impatient, Scott yelled, "Out with it. What are you stuttering for?"

"Sir, I was just informed that Hall Corporations was granted the city park contract!"

"Ha-ha!" Scott sputtered a laugh. "You are joking, right? This is some April Fool's Day prank, isn't it?"

Andrew inched his head back, bobbing his eyebrows at his boss. "I'm not joking, Mr. Brown. We are in June, not April."
