Chapter 24

We both fell asleep in this position apparently. I wake up with the sound of exuberant knocking on the door. Emma’s head pops up, her hair adorably disheveled. “Relax baby, I locked it this time”. She giggles and slides onto her side, pulling the covers over her head.

I slide under with her, “whatcha doing in here?”. She smiles at me, “I just never thought I could feel this happy”. The knocking persists. Dammit! “Don’t move”, I peck her lips. I slip out of the blanket, grabbing a pair of shorts off the floor.

I look through the peephole. Oh god it’s Ruth. Without opening the door, “yes Ruth?”. Silence. “Oh god Liam, I don’t want to know what I interrupted but thank you for locking the door this time. Listen, I need your mate”. I glance over at Emma who is motioning to not open the door. “Sorry Ruth, she’s sleeping”. “Ugh, fine”.
