“Have you been able to find any hot chicks over there yet?” Brandon asked loudly through the phone, his voice filled with amusement.
“Unfortunately not,” I replied, leaning back against the plush headboard of my hotel bed. “My father told me that I am not allowed out of the hotel villa without the family.”
There was a brief moment of absolute silence on the line.
Then, both of us immediately burst into loud laughter at the absolute absurdity of what I had just said. The idea of me actually listening to my father’s strict rules was completely hilarious.
“You are still going to leave the hotel anyway, aren't you?” Brandon asked, still chuckling.
“Of course I am,” I said, running a hand through my hair. “I just have to find a way to bribe my annoying ass sister and her sidekick first.”
“Ava?” Brandon asked, his tone suddenly shifting, sounding way more interested.
“Yeah. Who else?”
“Wow. You never told me she was going along on this trip with you both,” Brandon said, letting out a soft sigh. “Man, if I knew that, I would have tagged along to Greece with you.”
I narrowed my eyes at the wall, my grip tightening on my phone. “And why exactly would you do that?”
“What the fuck, bro? You already know damn well that I have been trying to talk to her for months,” Brandon said, laughing a little. “She completely hates my guts because I am best friends with you. You are literally spoiling my shit with her.”
“Well, go look for someone else then,” I snapped, my voice dropping an octave. A sudden, ugly spark of irritation flared up in my chest at the thought of Brandon looking at her. “Trust me, she is never going to give in to you.”
“Well, there is absolutely no harm in trying,” he muttered carelessly.
“Okay. But just don't go getting your heart completely broken by some total dork.”
“She is not a dork, Miles. She is just incredibly smart,” Brandon said, chuckling softly.
I frowned, wondering what the hell was so funny to him. An uncomfortable tightness gripped my chest. “I have to go. I’ll call you later,” I said flatly, not wanting to talk about Ava with him for another second.
“Alright, dude. Have fun in paradise,” Brandon said, and the line immediately cut out.
I tossed the phone onto the mattress beside me and let out a harsh breath. The fuck does he mean he would come over here? I scoffed out loud to the empty room. Just the thought of Brandon trying to flirt with Ava made my blood boil.
My mind instantly traveled back to the chaotic events of last night at the restaurant.
Truth be told, I hadn't actually planned on touching her. But the exact moment she dropped her fork in pure anger, I used the excuse of “calming her down” just so I could finally feel her bare skin under my hand. It was a totally lame excuse, but in that moment, I simply couldn't help myself.
She looked extra fucking beautiful last night. Like she had made a massive, extra effort just to look that jaw-dropping in that red short dress. Her sweet floral perfume was completely intoxicating. It had been messing with my senses and driving me insane during the entire ride to the restaurant.
And her voice… her voice was another major weak point of mine.
I closed my eyes, a low groan escaping my throat as my thoughts turned dark and dangerous. I always wondered how extra sexy her voice would sound when she was finally crying out and moaning my name in the dark. I would probably lose all my control and come out of pure excitement just hearing it.
But I knew that was completely impossible. She wasn't just any ordinary girl I could pick up at a college house party. She was Riley’s best friend. She was strictly off-limits.
I groaned again, rubbing my hands over my face in frustration. I shouldn't even be thinking about her in such a filthy manner. It was wrong. It was completely forbidden.
But ever since I came back home from school, I couldn't help but feel more and more drawn to her every single day. I desperately wanted to know how she felt under my touch. I wanted to know how she sounded when she lost control. I wanted to know exactly how she tasted.
I told myself that maybe—just maybe—if I could find the answers to all these questions just once, I would finally stop having all these crazy, toxic fantasies about her. Otherwise, I was going to end up dying with these wild fantasies trapped inside my head.
Suddenly, a sharp, distinct knock came on my bedroom door.
“Miles!”
It was Ava. The exact moment her voice filtered through the wood, my cock immediately reacted, hardening instantly beneath my dark sweatpants.
“Fuck,” I muttered under my breath, closing my eyes for a second to fight the sudden rush of heat.
“What do you want, Harper?” I called out loudly, making absolutely no effort to go and open the door just yet.
“Riley said you are with her laptop charger,” Ava called back, her voice sounding slightly impatient. “She needs it right now.”
I looked around the messy room, searching for the cord. Finally, I caught sight of the white charger peeking out from under one of my pillows. I walked over, yanked it out, and held it in my hand.
I stopped right in front of the door, closing my eyes and taking a few deep, steadying breaths to get my composure back. When I felt completely under control, I pulled the door open.
“Here, dork,” I said flatly, handing the white cord over to her.
Ava didn't take it immediately. Instead, she stood there in the hallway, her bright eyes narrowing as she studied my face and looked past my shoulder into the room.
“Don't tell me you have a girl snuck into your hotel room already,” she said, crossing her arms over her chest, her voice dripping with pure judgment.
A slow, wicked smirk spread across my face. I leaned against the doorframe, looking down at her. “And what if I do?”
Ava let out a soft gasp of disbelief, her expression turning into a look of absolute disgust. “You are seriously disgusting, Miles.”
“I’ve heard way worse than that before, Ava… even from you,” I murmured, my eyes dropping down to her lips for a brief second before locking back onto her gaze.
She rolled her eyes dramatically, snatching the laptop charger out of my hand. She turned on her heel and started walking back down the hallway toward her own room. I stood frozen in the doorway, my eyes locked onto her retreating figure, watching the sway of her hips until she finally stepped inside her room and clicked the door shut.
I closed my door slowly and leaned my head against the wood. My chest was heaving.
Now, I definitely needed to go out and find a random girl tonight—fast. I needed someone, anyone, to completely erase these dangerous, forbidden fantasies about Ava before they completely consumed me.
MILES Her words hit me like a physical shock wave. Everything inside me froze. I stared down at her, my heart doing a massive, violent thud against my ribs. Ava was a virgin. She hadn't let any of those other guys touch her like this. Out of everyone, I was the one she was trusting with this part of her. A sudden, overwhelming wave of pure protectiveness crashed over me, mixed with a deep, fierce sense of pride. I was the first. And I was going to make sure it was absolutely perfect for her. My entire mood shifted from wild urgency to absolute gentleness. I leaned down, kissing her forehead softly, and then trailed my lips down to her jaw. “Hey, look at me,” I murmured, my voice dropping into the softest, most tender register I had ever used in my life. Ava lifted her heavy gaze, her beautiful eyes locking onto mine. “Thank you for trusting me,” I whispered genuinely, tracing the line of her cheekbone with my thumb. “I’ve got you, Ava. I promise I’m going to be so careful with y
MILES The moment her lips touched mine, every single ounce of my self-control shattered into a million pieces. I didn't care about the rules anymore. I didn't care that she was my sister's best friend, or that my family was sleeping just down the hall. All I knew was that Ava was finally in my arms, moaning into my mouth, and her hands were tangled tightly in my hair. I gripped her waist tighter, lifting her off her feet just enough to press her back hard against the bedroom door. A sharp gasp left her throat, and I used the opportunity to slip my tongue inside her mouth, deep and hungry. I tasted the sweet lingering flavor of the expensive white wine from dinner mixed with her pure, addictive sweetness. Ava let out another breathless whimper, wrapping her arms completely around my neck as she kissed me back with an intensity that blew my mind. She wasn't pulling away. She wanted this just as badly as I did. My hands traveled down the soft fabric of her silk pajama top, trac
AVA I didn't bother typing a response back. I simply slipped my feet into my fluffy bedroom slippers and quietly crept out of the room, making sure the door didn't make a sound as I walked down the hall to his bedroom. I knocked gently once, then twice. The door swung open, and Miles stood there. He wasn't wearing a shirt at all—only a pair of low-slung grey sweatpants. Seeing the hard lines of his bare chest and abs up close, I immediately thought to myself that coming here might have been a terrible idea. “Dork,” he said, a soft smile spreading across his face. “Are you actually going to let me inside, or are you just going to stand there?” I asked, crossing my arms to hide my nervousness. He stepped to the side, opening the space to let me walk into his room, and locked the door securely behind us. “Is Amora asleep?” he asked, leaning his back against the door. “Yeah. And for some strange reason, I just can't seem to fall asleep.” “I’ve been there,” he said smoothly. He fol
AVA The rest of the evening went by as fast as the wind. The resort staff had arranged a live performer for the evening, a talented acoustic guitarist whose smooth, melodic voice filled the warm night air. I sat back and watched as Aunt Janet and Uncle David slow-danced on the stone terrace. It looked like they were falling in love for the very first time all over again, totally lost in each other's eyes. Chloe's parents eventually joined them on the dance floor, laughing and swaying to the music. Amora’s mother was out there too, but she was dancing with Miles. Come to think of it, I realized I had never actually heard anyone in the family bring up Amora's dad. I made a quick mental note to ask Riley about it later when we were finally alone in our room. The rest of us left at the table kept our phones out, recording sweet videos of the couples dancing under the glowing fairy lights. Chloe and Millie actually tried to involve Riley and me in a conversation or two. The small talk d
AVA “Oh, you are definitely wearing the emerald green one,” Riley said, her eyes widening as she pointed a manicured finger at the silk dress hanging on the closet door. “No questions asked. It literally makes your skin glow, Ava.” “You think so?” I asked, turning to look at the fabric. It was a beautiful, floor-length silk dress with a cowl neckline and a low, open back. It was simple but completely elegant. “I don’t just think so, I know so,” Amora chimed in from her spot near the mirror, where she was carefully putting on a pair of silver earrings. She looked absolutely stunning herself in a soft, blush-pink off-the-shoulder gown that perfectly matched her gentle personality. Riley zipped up her own dress, a bold, royal blue satin piece that fit her like a glove and completely screamed her name. “Amora is right. If you don't wear that green dress, I will personally force you into it. Tonight is my parents' 30th anniversary, which means we all need to look like absolute royalty.
MILES I finished dressing up in my fresh clothes, grabbed my bag, and walked right out of the bathroom. “Miles! Over here!” Chloe waved her hand wildly from a large table across the resort's outdoor dining patio. I looked around the crowded space. Ava, Amora, and Riley were sitting together at a completely different table on the opposite side of the patio, already eating their lunch. I let out a soft sigh as I walked over to join Chloe and Millie instead. “I keep forgetting you guys are even on this family trip with us,” I said sarcastically as I slid into an empty seat at their table. “Well, you never actually come over to check up on us anyway. You're always trailing behind your sister and her bestie,” Millie said, taking a large bite of a fried chicken wing from her plate. I scoffed loudly. “You guys are the ones who are constantly keeping to yourselves,” I said. Without even asking for permission, I reached over and snatched the other chicken wing right off her plate, poppi
AVA“Neriah!” Aunt Mabel waved back happily, standing up from the table.I didn't want to turn around and look back just yet. Miles and Riley were still seated completely still, so I didn't want to look like I was doing way too much or being overly nosy. But just as I looked up from my phone, a gir
AVA“My cousins are just so incredibly extra, and honestly, we completely hate each other,” Riley groaned as she violently unpacked her clothes, tossing them onto her bed.I paused, holding a hanger in my hand, and looked over at her. “Isn't hate a really, really strong word, Riles?”“When they fin
