“My cousins are just so incredibly extra, and honestly, we completely hate each other,” Riley groaned as she violently unpacked her clothes, tossing them onto her bed.

I paused, holding a hanger in my hand, and looked over at her. “Isn't hate a really, really strong word, Riles?”

“When they finally arrive and you meet them, you will know exactly what I am talking about,” Riley said, rolling her eyes as she slammed a drawer shut. “They always act like they are in some sort of constant, toxic competition with me.”

“Well, you did tell me that their mother owns Loras,” I pointed out, smoothing down a shirt. “And that is an extremely popular, high-end clothing brand. So, they are probably just playing the part of spoiled, rich, fortunate adults.”

My comment made Riley stop her frantic unpacking, and she burst into a loud laugh. “Yeah, you are completely right, I guess,” she shrugged, her tense shoulders finally relaxing.

“Hey, you have to completely forget about them,” I said, walking over to her and giving her a reassuring smile. “We are six hours away from home in paradise. We are going to have the absolute time of our lives on this trip, regardless of them.”

“You are absolutely right,” Riley said, a mischievous spark lighting up her eyes. “But we still have to look ten times better than them tonight.” She immediately turned back to her suitcase and started throwing glamorous outfits onto the mattress.

I walked over to my own bed. Tonight was the big welcome dinner at a restaurant in the city. I had already picked out my outfit days ago: a short, vibrant red floral dress. I had only worn it once before, and I felt it was the perfect dress for tonight—especially with Riley desperately trying to outdo her annoying cousins. When I pulled it on, it hugged my curves perfectly. It was absolutely flawless.

We ended up taking a cab to the restaurant venue because it was already past eight o'clock in the evening. Riley and I stayed close, chatting and giggling throughout the entire ride to keep our nerves down. Miles, on the other hand, sat in the front seat looking like a complete deadbeat. He stared out the window in total silence. I could tell just by the tense set of his shoulders that he was already deeply irritated by the mere idea of having a long dinner with his extended family.

Miles never took any interest in family bonding time. Honestly, that was one of the major reasons he chose to go to college so far away in the first place—just to be as far apart from them as possible. He hadn't even tried to dress up nicely for the occasion. He simply threw on a plain black button-down shirt and a pair of dark black jeans. But despite his casual clothes, he still looked incredibly handsome, like he was wearing a custom-tailored luxury tuxedo.

“We are here, kids!” Aunt Lauren cheered in pure excitement, throwing her hands up in the air the exact moment we stepped out of the cab.

I couldn't help but smile warmly at her. Aunt Lauren never found it hard to show her joy and excitement for the little things in life. My own mother, on the other hand, found it incredibly hard to express her emotions well. But to be fair, she only became that way after my dad passed away.

“Come on, Ava,” Riley said, breaking me out of my thoughts as her fingers clamped around my wrist. “Let’s go inside.”

I followed her closely as we were ushered into the restaurant by a polite host. The venue was breathtaking. It was a gorgeous, open-roof restaurant built directly onto a stone terrace high above the water. Strands of warm fairy lights were strung across the space, twinkling like stars against the dark night sky. The soft sound of the ocean waves crashing against the cliffs below mixed with the gentle jazz music playing in the background. White linen tables were scattered around, surrounded by lush green plants and the delicious aroma of authentic Greek spices.

Uncle David walked ahead to handle the reservation details with the front hostess while the rest of us waited near the entrance. Soon after, he walked back over to us with a smile and ushered our group toward a large, long table situated right near the edge of the terrace.

I quickly slid into a chair, trying to find a comfortable spot. To my absolute horror, I realized I had accidentally sat directly between Riley and Miles. In my defense, I genuinely thought Miles was going to take the seat next to his mom. But instead, he slid into the chair right beside me. We were packed in so closely that our knees were almost touching under the table. Every time he shifted, the fabric of his black jeans brushed against my bare thighs, sending a jolt of nervous electricity straight through my veins.

A waiter politely came over to take our drink orders and left shortly after.

“Mabel! Over here!” a loud, high-pitched voice suddenly called out across the terrace.

Beside me, Miles and Riley let out a simultaneous, deeply annoyed sigh. It was hilarious how synchronized they were in their misery. It looked like both of them deeply disliked these relatives.

“Come on, guys, they seriously cannot be that bad,” I muttered under my breath, looking between the two siblings.

Miles shifted slightly in his seat, leaning his upper body closer to mine. His warm breath brushed against my ear, making my skin tingle. “You will surely see for yourself very soon, dork,” he murmured darkly.

MILES Her words hit me like a physical shock wave. Everything inside me froze. I stared down at her, my heart doing a massive, violent thud against my ribs. Ava was a virgin. She hadn't let any of those other guys touch her like this. Out of everyone, I was the one she was trusting with this part of her. A sudden, overwhelming wave of pure protectiveness crashed over me, mixed with a deep, fierce sense of pride. I was the first. And I was going to make sure it was absolutely perfect for her. My entire mood shifted from wild urgency to absolute gentleness. I leaned down, kissing her forehead softly, and then trailed my lips down to her jaw. “Hey, look at me,” I murmured, my voice dropping into the softest, most tender register I had ever used in my life. Ava lifted her heavy gaze, her beautiful eyes locking onto mine. “Thank you for trusting me,” I whispered genuinely, tracing the line of her cheekbone with my thumb. “I’ve got you, Ava. I promise I’m going to be so careful with y

  • Our Forbidden Obsession: Craving my Bestfriend's Brother    Against Every Rule

MILES The moment her lips touched mine, every single ounce of my self-control shattered into a million pieces. I didn't care about the rules anymore. I didn't care that she was my sister's best friend, or that my family was sleeping just down the hall. All I knew was that Ava was finally in my arms, moaning into my mouth, and her hands were tangled tightly in my hair. I gripped her waist tighter, lifting her off her feet just enough to press her back hard against the bedroom door. A sharp gasp left her throat, and I used the opportunity to slip my tongue inside her mouth, deep and hungry. I tasted the sweet lingering flavor of the expensive white wine from dinner mixed with her pure, addictive sweetness. Ava let out another breathless whimper, wrapping her arms completely around my neck as she kissed me back with an intensity that blew my mind. She wasn't pulling away. She wanted this just as badly as I did. My hands traveled down the soft fabric of her silk pajama top, trac

AVA I didn't bother typing a response back. I simply slipped my feet into my fluffy bedroom slippers and quietly crept out of the room, making sure the door didn't make a sound as I walked down the hall to his bedroom. I knocked gently once, then twice. The door swung open, and Miles stood there. He wasn't wearing a shirt at all—only a pair of low-slung grey sweatpants. Seeing the hard lines of his bare chest and abs up close, I immediately thought to myself that coming here might have been a terrible idea. “Dork,” he said, a soft smile spreading across his face. “Are you actually going to let me inside, or are you just going to stand there?” I asked, crossing my arms to hide my nervousness. He stepped to the side, opening the space to let me walk into his room, and locked the door securely behind us. “Is Amora asleep?” he asked, leaning his back against the door. “Yeah. And for some strange reason, I just can't seem to fall asleep.” “I’ve been there,” he said smoothly. He fol

  • Our Forbidden Obsession: Craving my Bestfriend's Brother    Can't Sleep

AVA The rest of the evening went by as fast as the wind. The resort staff had arranged a live performer for the evening, a talented acoustic guitarist whose smooth, melodic voice filled the warm night air. I sat back and watched as Aunt Janet and Uncle David slow-danced on the stone terrace. It looked like they were falling in love for the very first time all over again, totally lost in each other's eyes. Chloe's parents eventually joined them on the dance floor, laughing and swaying to the music. Amora’s mother was out there too, but she was dancing with Miles. Come to think of it, I realized I had never actually heard anyone in the family bring up Amora's dad. I made a quick mental note to ask Riley about it later when we were finally alone in our room. The rest of us left at the table kept our phones out, recording sweet videos of the couples dancing under the glowing fairy lights. Chloe and Millie actually tried to involve Riley and me in a conversation or two. The small talk d

AVA “Oh, you are definitely wearing the emerald green one,” Riley said, her eyes widening as she pointed a manicured finger at the silk dress hanging on the closet door. “No questions asked. It literally makes your skin glow, Ava.” “You think so?” I asked, turning to look at the fabric. It was a beautiful, floor-length silk dress with a cowl neckline and a low, open back. It was simple but completely elegant. “I don’t just think so, I know so,” Amora chimed in from her spot near the mirror, where she was carefully putting on a pair of silver earrings. She looked absolutely stunning herself in a soft, blush-pink off-the-shoulder gown that perfectly matched her gentle personality. Riley zipped up her own dress, a bold, royal blue satin piece that fit her like a glove and completely screamed her name. “Amora is right. If you don't wear that green dress, I will personally force you into it. Tonight is my parents' 30th anniversary, which means we all need to look like absolute royalty.

MILES I finished dressing up in my fresh clothes, grabbed my bag, and walked right out of the bathroom. “Miles! Over here!” Chloe waved her hand wildly from a large table across the resort's outdoor dining patio. I looked around the crowded space. Ava, Amora, and Riley were sitting together at a completely different table on the opposite side of the patio, already eating their lunch. I let out a soft sigh as I walked over to join Chloe and Millie instead. “I keep forgetting you guys are even on this family trip with us,” I said sarcastically as I slid into an empty seat at their table. “Well, you never actually come over to check up on us anyway. You're always trailing behind your sister and her bestie,” Millie said, taking a large bite of a fried chicken wing from her plate. I scoffed loudly. “You guys are the ones who are constantly keeping to yourselves,” I said. Without even asking for permission, I reached over and snatched the other chicken wing right off her plate, poppi
