Albert

I wake up with a sharp gasp, sitting so fast that Edward’s arm slips off my waist. My breath comes in shallow pulls, as if I have been running for miles, and for a moment, I can’t tell where dream ends and reality begins.

The vision is still clinging to my mind like wet cobwebs. Flames. Shadows. A pair of hands reaching for me… no, for the child inside me. A voice whispering:

“He is mine.”

I press a hand over my stomach. My baby is still. Quiet. As if he, too, is hiding.

Oh, sorry. They are two. Not one. Wow!

Edward stirs beside me with a soft groan.

“Al…? Are you alright?”

His voice is rough with sleep, deeper than usual. I look at him, his skin color returning slowly, his hair still silver at the tips from the ritual, his eyes warm and soft. He’s alive. He’s breathing. He’s safe.

I force a small smile.

“It's… just a dream.”

He studies me for a beat too long, and I can tell he doesn’t quite believe me. But he nods and pulls me gently back to his chest, kissing the side of my

  • Our Little Secret: In Love With My Professor    177. The Lair of Waiting Shadows

AlbertPain is a tide.It comes, it goes, it lies to me in the silence between waves and tells me I might survive this. Then it comes back harder.I wake on cold stone, breath tearing out of my chest as another contraction rips through me. My hands claw uselessly at the ground, fingers scraping against symbols carved deep into the floor; old runes, darkened by time and blood and something far worse.Bibi Kamwe’s lair.I can tell even without trying because everything here smells like the rot she is.The air here is thick, damp, humming with wrongness. Shadows cling to the walls like living things, stretching and recoiling as if they’re breathing. The ceiling is lost in darkness, and the only light comes from a ring of firestones embedded around the chamber, casting everything in a sickly amber glow.My belly is tight. Too tight.I curl inward instinctively, cradling it, whimpering when another wave of pain crashes through me. My body shakes violently, sweat slicking my skin despite th

  • Our Little Secret: In Love With My Professor    176. The Strain of Birth

AlbertThe pain started slowly at first, like a dull ache deep in my gut. I barely noticed it as I tried to focus on the task at hand, trying to keep my mind busy with anything other than the knowledge that I was about to give birth and someone wanted me and my pups dead. But as the hours passed, it grew stronger. And then… unbearable.I was pacing the infirmary, trying not to make a sound, not wanting anyone to know how much I was struggling. But the pain was real, a gnawing, twisting sensation that felt like my body was being torn apart.I had never felt anything like this before, and the fact that I was a male Omega made it even worse. Giving birth wasn’t supposed to happen like this… it wasn’t supposed to happen to me.I stopped in front of the window, breathing heavily. The dim light from the outside barely reached the room, the night pressing close to the walls. My wolf felt restless inside me, pacing with me, as if it could sense what was happening, or maybe it was just trying

  • Our Little Secret: In Love With My Professor    175. The Weight in the Air

AlbertEdward falls asleep slowly, his breaths evening out slowly, his head resting against my shoulder as if that spot was designed solely for him. My arms curve around him instinctively, cradling him close, unwilling to let even an inch of space come between us.The forest battle still clings to my skin. I can smell the faint scorch of my own magic, the coppery ghost of Bibi Kamwe’s magic in his blood on my hands, the broken hum of the ritual that nearly cost me him. Every part of my body aches, but none of it matters. He’s here. He’s alive. His hair, now completely white, spills across my chest like moonlit silk. I stroke a hand through it, gentle, reverent. I’m still trying to get used to it, the shock of pale against his sun-warmed skin, the reminder of just how close I came to losing him. But it’s beautiful. It’s Edward. It’s proof of what he survived.Proof of what I dragged him back from. His fingers curl around my shirt in his sleep, weak but firm enough to tell me he isn’t l

  • Our Little Secret: In Love With My Professor    174. The Letter Albert Hid

EdwardStrength returned slowly, not in a flood, but in steady waves that left me grateful for every breath that didn’t ache. Every morning, Albert would check my ribs, my pulse, my shifting capability, treating me like a fragile vessel even though he tried to hide it. Every night, he held me close as if my disappearance back into the void could happen if he loosened his grip for even a second.Every day, he would feed me his powers even when I asked him not to. I was afraid that he would drain himself out but somehow, he kept going. But three weeks after the ritual, I could stand on the training grounds again.I could breathe without struggling.I could shift for a few minutes at a time.I could lead. And that morning, as dawn broke, I stood in the center of the training ring surrounded by the wolves of my pack, their expectant faces, their loyalty, their silent relief at seeing me upright and alive.Cess stood at my right like a proud sentry. His eyes shone with both pride and exhau

  • Our Little Secret: In Love With My Professor    173. The Visions That Won’t Let Me Rest

AlbertI burned the letter.I didn’t even realize that I had done it until the paper curled into black ash in my palm and drifted to the forest floor like dead snowflakes. But even ashes can’t erase words like those.Edward is mine. Not was.Not should have been.Is.Present. Active. A threat that walked and breathed and watched.I stood in the shadow of the trees a few yards behind the pack house, fingers trembling even though the evening was warm. Edward was inside, resting, his breath slow, steady, recovering… almost recovered. My wolf pushed against my chest, wanting to go to him, wanting to shield him from something he didn’t even know existed yet.But I couldn’t.I wouldn’t take this peace from him. Not yet.I turned toward the house, the lights glowing softly through the windows. It looked safe. Blissful. The kind of life I had once thought I would never get. The kind of life that had almost been taken from us both. And that’s when the visions began. At first, they were nothin

  • Our Little Secret: In Love With My Professor    172. The Offer (and the Lie)

AdrianI had always known that power came at a price. You had to reach for it, claw for it, sometimes even take it from those too weak to defend themselves. But I hadn’t known how intoxicating it could feel to be promised everything I thought I wanted, to be handed a ladder straight to the top, and to have someone whisper that my deepest, darkest desires could actually be fulfilled. This woman's presence was like a shadow curling around me, elegant and dangerous. She moved like a predator, every step calculated, every glance a lure. Her robes swept over the marble floor of her lair, and her voice, soft, smooth, a silken temptation, filled the space. I should have felt fear, but instead, I felt hope.“You’ve been patient, Adrian,” she said, her eyes gleaming. “But patience doesn’t always get rewarded. Not in this world. Not unless someone guides you.”I nodded, my fingers tightening around the edge of the chair I sat in. The firelight reflected in her eyes, dancing like flames, yet she
