Amelia looked around the school's building, trying to get familiar with her surroundings. Her Mom had told her to go straight to the principal's office so that he could show her to her classroom but now, she had no idea on how she could get there. She thought about asking one of her fellow students for directions but none of them even seemed to notice her. They all walked around with their nose up, with an air of superiority.
"Snooty, snooby Maverick High students". She muttered to herself. Just then, she heard a beep on her phone. She took it out and it saw that it was a text message from her Dad. She opened it and read; ''Amelia darling, Good morning. Your Mom told me that she already dropped you off at your new school. I hope you're good. Enjoy your first day at school. Love you.''She smiled and was about to text back when she mistakenly bumped into someone."Oh, I am so sorry, I didn't see you there.'' She said,"Of course you didn't,'' said a girl with long blonde hair. She was Catherine Thomas, popularly known as the queen bee of Maverick High. She was tall and very beautiful and almost all the boys at Maverick High had a crush on her. She also came from the popular Thomas family who were one of the richest families in the whole of the United States. She was aware of how rich and beautiful she was which made her very proud and arrogant. She also looked down on people who weren't as rich or as beautiful as she was. She had her own gang of girls who were always at her beck and call."I think you need to get your eyes checked". She said rather savagely."Excuse me?" Amelia asked."You heard me, if your eyes were working properly you wouldn't have the guts to say that you didn't see me". Catherine said."But I already apologized, it was a mistake". Amelia said."Sure it was, dummy. Girls, let's move" She said, while walking away, just as the school bell rang. Her gang of giggling girls followed right behind her. Amelia was dumbfounded, sure enough she had heard about how rude Maverick High students were. But she didn't know that this was rude. She made a mental note of dealing with Catherine later. At that moment, someone called her name. She spun around and came face to face with a tall, dark haired man."Amelia Thompson?" He asked."Yes sir, I am Amelia Thompson". She replied."Ok, I am Principal Jerkins. Today is your first day here, right?" He said."Yes sir.'' she said."Great, now kindly come with me to my office.''She followed the principal to the office and when they got there, he asked her to take a seat and she did."So I understand that you are transferring from your school to start grade Eleven here with us. Is that true?" He asked."Yes sir." She said,She then explained the reason for the transfer, her dad's new job and everything. "Ok Miss. Please kindly fill this form for me to the best of your knowledge.'' He handed her a white form and she filled it. When she was done, she handed it back to him. For a moment, she contemplated whether to report the incident with Catherine but she decided against it. She would deal with Catherine on her own and at her own time. Then, the principal called the secretary and she came in."Amelia, please follow her and she'll show you to your class. Enjoy your first day at Maverick High school". He said with a smile on his face."Thank you sir". Amelia said and followed the secretary out. They took the stairs to the second floor where the Senior High classes were located. They walked for a bit and then finally got to the grade Eleven class. A teacher was teaching in the class while the students listened. Immediately they both stepped in, all eyes turned towards their direction, the secretary stepped over to the teacher's side and spoke to him in low tones while Amelia just stood there. The students were already whispering and pointing towards her. She looked around and saw Catherine and her gang members also whispering and giggling. There were classmates! She sighed and looked in the other direction and saw a boy with sunny brown hair staring directly at her as if he knew her. God! He was cute."Not now, Amelia". She said to herself, dragging her eyes away from him. Finally, the secretary and the teacher stopped talking. The secretary gave her a thumbs up and left the class."Good morning Miss, I am Mr Ben, the geography teacher. Please come forward and introduce yourself". He said warmly.Amelia swallowed and moved slowly towards the front of the class. She hated it when people stared at her, it always made her nervous."Good morning, I am Amelia Thompson, a new student here. It's nice to meet you all". She said,"Nice to meet you too". Some of them murmured. They were still staring at her like they were expecting her to say something more. "Well, that's all I've got for y'all today." She said inwardly."Thank you very much Amelia. Please kindly take your seat at the back. And now back to our topic for the day..." Mr Ben said.As Amelia was moving towards the back, the students' attention was slowly taken away from her and back to their teacher. She noticed that the boy with the sunny brown hair was still staring at her and she hated the way he was staring, it was becoming annoying. She quickly averted her eyes, took her seat and faced the teacher.Amelia wasn't sure she would be able to deal with all of these students because they came off as snobbish and self centered but one thing she knew was that if any of them tried as much as to talk to her anyhow, she wouldn't hesitate to show them the stuff she's mafe of.
AmeliaAmelia sat in the passenger seat, her fingers drumming against her lap as her mother drove down the long, winding road leading to Blake’s house. The second day of their project work had arrived, and as promised, her mother insisted on driving her. Amelia hadn’t thought much of it at first, but now, as they neared their destination, she could feel her mother’s excitement radiating off her.“You know,” her mother said, her voice laced with nostalgia, “I still can’t believe Evelyn's son is in your group. What are the odds?”Amelia shrugged, her gaze fixed on the trees lining the road. “Maverick High isn’t that big. It was bound to happen.”Her mother chuckled. “Still, it’s a pleasant surprise. Evelyn and I were inseparable back in high school. We did everything together.”Amelia turned to look at her mother. “Then why did you two lose touch?”A shadow passed over her mother’s face. “Life happened. College, work, marriage... We both got busy. But I never stopped thinking about her.
Blake Blake was fuming.Catherine was an idiot. An insufferable, possessive, delusional idiot. He had told her time and time again to stop meddling in his business, but she never listened. Her jealousy was out of control, and today, she had made a complete fool of herself. Worse, she had dragged him into the mess.He clenched his fists as he stormed toward Principal Jerkins’ office. The second the final bell rang, his name had been called over the intercom, summoning him immediately. He knew exactly why. Amelia had gone to make a report at the principal's office and the principal had summoned him to warn him. The moment he stepped into the office, Principal Jerkins looked up from his desk with a tired expression. "Blake, have a seat."Blake crossed his arms. "I’ll stand."Jerkins sighed. "Fine. I’ll make this quick. You need to tone down your behavior."Blake scoffed, leaning against the chair in front of the principal’s desk. "And what behavior is that exactly?"Jerkins gave him a
AmeliaAmelia stormed through the hallway, her steps quick and purposeful. Enough was enough. She had tolerated Blake and his entitled nonsense for too long. Catherine and her minions had pushed her patience to the limit, and she wasn’t about to let them get away with it this time. If the school had any sense of justice, something had to be done. She reached the principal’s office and knocked firmly on the wooden door. When there was no response, she tried again. Still nothing.A sigh came from behind the front desk. Amelia turned to see the school secretary, a middle-aged woman with rectangular glasses perched on the bridge of her nose. She looked up from her computer screen, arching a brow."Principal Jerkins isn’t in at the moment," the woman said, adjusting her glasses. "You’ll have to wait if you want to see him."Amelia exhaled sharply. Of course. Just her luck. "Do you know how long he’ll be?"The secretary shrugged. "Shouldn’t be too long. He had a meeting with some board memb
Blake.Blake didn’t like being late. Not because he cared about rules—Maverick High’s staff wouldn’t dare punish him considering how much money his father pumped into the school every year—but because he preferred to arrive on his own time, under his own terms.Today, however, he had decided to drive himself to school instead of letting one of the drivers take him. His father had just added another luxury car to their collection, sleek and powerful, and Blake needed to show it off.As he pulled into the school’s driveway, students turned to watch, their eyes filled with admiration, jealousy, or curiosity. He smirked as he parked, taking his time stepping out.He untucked his uniform shirt just enough to break the dress code without consequences, ran a hand through his hair to give it that effortless messy-but-still-perfect look, then slung his backpack over one shoulder. His car keys dangled loosely from his index finger as he strolled toward the school building, shoulders squared, exu
AmeliaAs soon as Amelia walked through the front door, the familiar scent of home welcomed her—lavender and vanilla, her mother's favorite fragrance. She dropped her bag on the couch and sighed, rubbing her temples. It had been a long day.Between the awkward group project meeting, Blake’s irritating presence, and the shocking revelation that his mother was her mother’s long-lost best friend, Amelia had a lot on her mind. She barely had time to process it all before her mother appeared from the kitchen, a warm smile spreading across her face. There you are,” She said, opening her arms. “How was your day, sweetheart?”Amelia allowed herself to be enveloped in her mother’s embrace, the warmth easing some of the tension in her shoulders.“Exhausting,” she admitted, pulling away. Her mother chuckled. “First days always are.”Amelia hesitated. How was she supposed to drop this bombshell?Oh, by the way, Mom, remember your best friend from high school? Yeah, I met her today. That didn’t se
BlakeBlake had always known that his mother spoke fondly of her high school years. It was one of the things she never got tired of talking about—her best friend, Ruby Bridges.Growing up, he'd heard the name more times than he could count. Whenever his mother talked about friendship, loyalty, or memories of high school, it was always Ruby this, Ruby that.It used to annoy him. He'd never cared much for his mother's nostalgic ramblings, and he certainly never thought he'd meet the daughter of the famous Ruby Bridges. Yet, here Amelia was.It was interesting. His mother had adored Ruby. He could still remember the way her eyes lit up whenever she spoke about their high school days. And now, standing here, realizing that Amelia was her daughter, things made a little more sense.Amelia had that same sharp wit his mother always described in Ruby. The same stubbornness. The same unshakable confidence. No wonder she got under his skin. Still, the realization didn't change the fact that she
