MasukAlexandra POV
“My bed,” Enzo replied.
“Huh?”
He turned and marched down the short hall. I followed him. His room was the size of my studio, excluding the shower and walk-in closet.
“This room could be two rooms. You don’t need all this space,” I stated.
“Of course I do.”
The room had a massive king-size bed that could easily fit four people. A huge, big screen TV like the one in the living room. It smelled like him. Clean, warm and masculine.
“You take the bed, and I’ll take the couch. Simple.”
“Wait, you don’t have to do that. You don’t even have to keep me here. I’ll sleep on the couch.”
He shook his head. “It’ll allow me to watch the front door.”
“I thought you said no one would dare attack the Supreme Alpha?” I mumbled.
“They wouldn’t. I just want to be careful. The shower and bathtub are through that door.”
I looked into his green eyes. How was I sure my heat wouldn’t lure him to the bed while I slept? Had I made a deal with the devil?
“Anything else?” He asked.
“N-No. Thank you.”
He brushed my appreciation off and marched out of the room. During the months Xavier and I dated, I’d never been to his house. We hang out at the university and my apartment.
Enzo and I weren’t even together, yet I was in his bed.
***
I fell into a deep sleep the second my head hit the pillow. Enzo’s scent wrapped around me as I drifted off into a dark, dreamless sleep. His masculine scent was better than any aromatherapy I’d ever tried. Everything was made worse because he lent me his shirt to sleep in. His hands on my body was a massage I desperately needed.
I jolted out of my dreamless sleep and woke to another darkness. My shirt stuck to my body. It was as if someone threw a bucket of water on me.
“W-What’s happening to me?” I panted.
My body was tight and hot with the temperature increasing each second. Was this part of my heat? It was worse than what I felt earlier! I kicked the blanket off me. My thighs rubbed against each other, and the inferno between my legs made itself known.
I hissed, “Ah!”
I needed relief. I was like a balloon being pumped with hot air; sooner or later, I was going to burst. I moaned just thinking about it.
The explosion I was looking for was a huge orgasmic one.
But I couldn’t have one here! Not in the Supreme Alpha’s bed.
Suddenly, the mattress sank beside me. I froze, but it was too late. I smelt him before I saw him.
“What are you doing?” I whispered.
“I’m here to make it better. Relax,” he said in my ear.
His large hand landed on my thigh and dragged me to his rock-hard body.
His fingers ran up and down my thigh. The tips travelled dangerously close to my crotch. Any closer and he would discover I didn’t have any underwear on!
Panic set off, and I wiggled against him, trying to derail his movements, but I ended up grinding on his cock instead.
“Alex,” he groaned, deep and low.
“I didn’t mean that! I mean—” I bit my bottom lip and tried to relax.
Despite the heat and sexual hunger deep in my core, the atmosphere in the room shifted. There was no innocence in this. He was forbidden, my enemy’s father and the Alpha who should want my blood dripping between his fingers.
The lines blurred, and all logic went out the window when his arm wrapped around my throat and dragged me closer to him. The heat cooled, and I moaned from the subtle release.
“Better?” He asked.
I nodded. I wanted more. “How did you know to come in here?”
“Your moaning.”
Heat rushed to my cheeks. “Ugh.”
Silence settled between us.
“Why is this happening? I’ve never had a heat before. Isn’t that only for she-wolves?”
“You are a she-wolf.”
“Ones with wolves, Enzo.”
“It’s uncommon, but half-humans are uncommon. We don’t really know how they work.”
“How do I make it stop then? Can any male—”
He flipped me onto my back, effectively cutting me off. He hovered over me, his eyes narrowed dangerously. “No other male can make you feel the way I do. They can’t handle your heat.”
“How do you know?” I challenged.
“I just do. You don’t need to try and find out either, Alex.”
He remained hovering above me. The urge to wrap him between my legs was strong. Enzo’s touch and tease were enough to cool the intensity of my first heat, but the desire that needed to be quenched remained.
I arched my back and shifted towards him, practically offering myself up to him on a plate. He inched closer. So close I could feel his breath dance on my lips.
A kiss. Just a little kiss to let me know what it felt like to kiss the Supreme Alpha.
Then he stopped. He pulled back and ran his hand through my hair.
What!
“You need to sleep,” he said.
“Sleep?” I questioned.
He rolled onto his side. “Yeah, but don’t worry. I’m not going anywhere.”
Sleep was the last thing on my mind.
Enzo pressed his palm on my belly and formed little circles with his fingers.
“Go to bed, Alex. You need it.”
My body didn’t want sleep, yet I drifted off anyway.
When I woke up, the bed was empty. I didn’t know when Enzo snuck out. Disappointment settled in my gut, waking up to an empty bed. I shouldn’t feel that way when nothing even happened between us yesterday.
His touch was comforting, and his voice was soothing, even if he said all the wrong words most times.
I climbed out of bed and wandered to the living room. The couch was empty, and so was the kitchen. Where’d he go?
“Enzo?” I called.
He must have left me to take care of pack duties. He couldn’t be my comforter twenty-four-seven. Just as I was about to return to his bedroom, a loud cutting sound pierced the quiet morning.
I gasped. “A tree!”
I ran outside and stopped on the porch to see the towering oak tree fall. Enzo stood a few feet from it. He picked up an axe just as the tree fell forward.
“Enzo!” I screamed. “Move!”
He turned just as the tree landed on top of him.
Alexandra POV“Enzo? Why did you follow me?”“Open the damn door so we can talk, Alexandra.”“I don’t need to open the door,” I mumbled.“Would you rather I break it down? I can and pay for the damages later.”I groaned in frustration. I yanked the door open. “I’m so sick of Alpha males!”“What happened to your lip?” He marched into my apartment.I closed the door and locked it.“Nothing happened,” I mumbled.“Xavier happened, didn’t he?”He took my face in his hands before I could respond. “Bastard,” he spat.“I’m sorry, Alex. Let me heal it.”I blinked a few times. “You have healing powers?”Mischief lit up his eyes. “No, but I can heal you. Want to know how?”“I don’t know…”My nipples hardened under my robe. I had a feeling it involved touching, as was the case with wolves. I’d already tasted him, and it was incredible, but he’d also already rejected me. However, the prospect of tasting him again made the possibility of rejection worth it.Ugh, Enzo had broken me. He was turning m
Alexandra POV“Just come home, Alex, please. He’s tearing up the place looking for you. I’ve been worried sick, too.”“I’m coming home.”I hung up and tucked the phone in my bag.“I have to go,” I whispered, avoiding his eyes.He stepped in front of me and stopped me from going any further.“Xavier? The jack ass who made you cry?” He demanded.“It doesn’t matter. He wasn’t always a jack ass to me.”Enzo ran a hand down his face. “What are you talking about?”“I was fated to him, alright. We broke up, though. I don’t know what he wants from me.”“You’ve been fated before?” He raised his brows.“Yes,” I replied, recalling the pain of that rejection.“And you broke up? You mean he rejected you. That little prick,” he spat.“Look, it doesn’t matter. I have to go. I can’t stay here.”“So you’re going to run back into his arms? Fated mates are a big deal, Alex. Xavier never announced to the other packs that he’d found his fated mate and intended Luna.”“People knew about us, though. I’d nev
Alexandra POV“Please be okay,” I pleaded as I ran towards him.How did that tree just fall without a storm or a breath of wind?“Get back!” Enzo growled.“There’s a tree on you!”The veins in his neck bulged against his skin as he struggled to push the thick tree trunk off him. The end of the tree stopped short of the front porch. That’s how long the tree was. “Don’t be so stubborn, let me help you…” I paused. “I’ll go for help.”“No, no!” Enzo barked. “Just get back.”What’s he thinking?!I was in full panic mode. My skin was tight and tense, my forehead pounded from the stress of seeing him pinned to the ground. I stepped back and stepped right on a raised object in the dirt.I hissed, but didn’t scream.Enzo panted heavily. “Alex, I need you to move. Get back to the porch.”I swallowed hard. “You can’t stay like this.”“I need you to trust me.” His voice was soft, but the pain was still evident.I nodded and did as I was told. There was no way my feeble human self could even atte

Alexandra POVThe door just came off! I thought that the steel door would hold long enough for me to get the second steel door open, but it was permanently glued to the wall.My name echoed in the stale, cold walls.I hide behind the only raised tomb in this chamber. I curled into a ball and struggled to quiet my breathing.“Alexandra, I know you’re down here.”I paused. “Alpha Enzo?” I whispered.“Come out. They’re all gone.”I remained in my hiding spot. He might want to kill me just like the other shifters who chased me.I heard footsteps, and my entire body froze over. I shut my eyes. The last thing I expected to happen was to be chased by a group of male shifters. I only managed to outrun them because beta guards got between us for a few minutes before they started chasing me again.I didn’t want to die like this. I didn’t want to live like this either. Maybe leaving the shifter region was my only choice.A heavy sigh made me open my eyes.“Didn’t you hear me?” Enzo barked. He ya
Enzo POV“Bitch!”“Worthless.”“Trash.”I clicked the phone off and dumped it on the table.“It was an unfair fight,” my right hand said.“It was an ambush. Cowards.”“You’re right. Now, what are you going to do about your little princess?”“I wouldn’t describe Faye as a princess.”My twenty-two-year-old daughter was a menace. She always had been. She was powerful like me, entitled and spoiled because of her grandmother.“Bring her in. We need to talk about this video.”The last thing I thought I’d see was my daughter pummelling Alexandra. My wolf was conflicted. He loved and cared for Faye, but the pull we had to Alexandra couldn’t be ignored.Alex was feisty and smart. The video didn’t do her justice. I knew she was capable of much more.“You got it, Alpha.”My right-hand man disappeared and returned moments later with my daughter. She looked around my office and scowled. Did I mention she was a snob?“When you invited me over for dinner, I didn’t expect you’d want us to eat in your
