Raven didn’t wait for an apology that would never come. By the time the sun began to rise over the sea like spilled fire, she was already dressed, already moving. There was nothing left in the silence. No tenderness, no explanation. Just that ache in her chest that told her she was losing something she hadn’t even realized she wanted to keep, but it didn’t matter because Zane was still out there and Talia was still missing.

The deeper she went, the clearer it became, there were no lines anymore, only shadows and monsters wearing masks that looked like men.

She kept her head low as she crossed the dim hallway beneath Club Eden. The back corridors smelled like disinfectant and lust, the two things the club was best at hiding.

Dante hadn’t seen her yet. That was good. She didn’t want to lie to him again. Didn’t want to fake the mask of the eager submissive when all she really wanted was answers. Answers that Jaxon wouldn’t give her.

She hated the way he’d gone cold. Hated the way he pret

The sunrise over the city didn’t bring warmth, only the illusion of it. Raven stood at the penthouse window, wrapped in a robe she didn’t remember putting on. Jaxon had tried to get her to sleep, but she couldn’t, not after the dock or the Sierra incident and definitely not after Zane’s voice echoing in her skull, cruel and mocking: "You should’ve chosen me.”She clenched her bandaged hands at her sides, the ache a reminder that she was still here. Still fighting. Behind her, the elevator chimed.Jaxon entered, dressed in black slacks and a half-buttoned shirt, collar skewed like he hadn’t slept either. His hair was mussed, stubble thick on his jaw. There was no mask today. No tailored composure. Just a man who’d come within inches of losing her.“Raven,” he said softly, but she didn’t turn.“I didn’t send Sierra away fast enough,” she murmured. “If I’d hesitated less, if I’d moved sooner...”“You saved her,” Jaxon interrupted, crossing to her. “Don’t twist that into failure.”Her ey

The air inside the storage unit was suffocating, thick with rust, oil, and fear. Raven crouched behind a stack of crates, the cold metal of the crowbar pressed tight to her palm. The silence buzzed with menace, every creak and groan of the building a threat waiting to move. Sierra hadn’t spoken again. The girl sat in the corner, her knees tucked to her chest, collar catching the light with every shallow breath.Raven's heart beat against her ribs like it was trying to claw its way out. She checked her phone, but there was still no reply. Her message: Dock 11. It’s real. They’re moving the girls. I’m locked in.Was Jaxon coming? Had he even read it?She tried not to think about the way they’d left things, the silence, the chill, the way he hadn’t looked at her when they parted ways. The way he’d turned his back like nothing mattered. But it did. God, it did.Her eyes snapped up as the sound of approaching footsteps echoed outside the door. Boots. Several pairs. One slower. Heavier. Tha

  • Owned By The Don    Chapter 43 - Price Of Loyalty

The wind off the sea bit through Raven’s coat as she stood in the center of the courtyard, the burner phone clenched tight in her fist. Zane’s words echoed like poison in her head: Come alone, or Talia dies screaming. The line had gone dead, but the dread still hummed, low and thick, in her bones. She stared at the phone like it might come alive again, but it didn’t.A breath behind her, warm against the cold night. “I told you not to go alone.” it was Jaxon’s voice. She didn’t flinch. “You followed me.”He stepped into view, his face shadowed but his eyes burning with restrained fury. “Of course I did.”“I had it handled.”“No, we have this handled.” His tone was low, rough, protective. “There’s no more separating you from this fight. Not after everything.”She shook her head, the adrenaline surging too fast, too sharp. “He has Talia, Jaxon and he knows everything about me and about Gabriel. Everything.”He reached for her hand, and she let him take it, barely aware of the tremor in

Raven sat frozen, the folder trembling in her lap like it was laced with poison. Her fingers hovered over the pages, afraid to turn them. Afraid not to. Her brother’s name stared back at her in neat, clinical type, Gabriel Knight. Her breath came in shallow drags as she flipped through the contents. A police report. A toxicology breakdown. But it wasn’t heroin they found in Gabriel’s system, it was an untraceable synthetic. Manufactured in black labs. Only used by cartels and traffickers to sedate high-value assets. He had been tagged abd tracked. There were notes scribbled in the margins, shipment codes, names of couriers, offshore drop points and one name kept appearing like a bloodstain that wouldn’t lift: Dante Belluci. Her stomach turned. Gabriel hadn’t stumbled into drugs. He had been pulled into this world, likely investigating something far darker than she ever knew and they had silenced him for it.She stumbled to her feet, folder clutched tight to her chest, heart ricochetin

  • Owned By The Don    Chapter 41 - Scars Of The Mother

The candlelight painted Jaxon in harsh gold as he stood by the window, hands braced on the sill like he could hold the night back with sheer force. Raven watched from the chaise in silence, the only sound the low hum of waves below the cliffside estate. Since they’d returned from Belgravia, since the raid, since Talia’s sobbed confession in the hallway, the air between them had turned thick with unspoken truths.Raven wasn’t ready to speak yet. She needed him to.He finally did. “She hated weakness,” Jaxon said, voice low and edged with something close to reverence, or venom. “Not in men. Not in sons. Not in herself.”Raven straightened. “Your mother?”A nod, but his eyes remained on the night. “She used to cut roses with a blade so sharp it could slice flesh without pain. She said nothing beautiful comes without blood.”“She protected Zane.”He turned slowly, gaze finally meeting hers. “Yes.”“Not you.”“No.”She could see it then, not bitterness, or regret, but distance. Like he’d m
