Elena Romano had spent years preparing for this moment—to return, to reclaim her power, to destroy the man who had once destroyed her.

Yet, one encounter with Killian Graves, and already, her past was trying to claw its way back into her bones.

She refused to let it.

Pacing her penthouse, she clenched her fists, forcing herself to focus.

Killian wasn’t just a man.

He was a calculated predator, a king in a world of wolves, a man who had turned his enemies into dust beneath his polished Italian leather shoes.

And now, he was coming for her.

Her phone vibrated again.

This time, a message.

Killian: Don’t run. You won’t get far.

A rush of rage mixed with something far more dangerous coursed through her veins.

How dare he?

Elena’s grip tightened around her phone before she forced herself to calm down.

Killian wanted her to react. He wanted to see her shaken.

She wouldn’t give him the satisfaction.

Instead, she walked over to the marble bar and poured herself a glass of whiskey. Neat. No ice.

She took a sip, letting the heat burn its way down her throat, steadying herself.

Two could play this game.

If Killian wanted to remind her who was in control, then it was time for her to show him that he wasn’t.

Elsewhere in New York…

Killian Graves leaned back in his leather chair, swirling a glass of bourbon in his hand.

The city skyline stretched before him through the floor-to-ceiling windows of his private office, but his mind was elsewhere.

On her.

Elena.

She had been his.

Once.

A lifetime ago, when he was still capable of feeling something real.

And now?

She had walked back into his world with a fire in her eyes and revenge dripping from her lips.

He should have expected it.

But what she didn’t understand was that he had been waiting for this moment, too.

For six years, he had searched for her.

For six years, he had wanted to know if she was still alive, still breathing, still his.

And now that she was back?

Killian had no intention of letting her go.

“Boss,” a voice interrupted his thoughts.

He turned to see Axel Carter, his second-in-command, stepping into the office.

“What is it?” Killian asked, swirling his drink.

Axel hesitated. “There’s been movement. A new player in the city. Someone with serious money and influence.”

Killian smirked. “Let me guess. Raven Black?”

Axel exhaled sharply. “Yeah. She’s been making moves, aligning with your enemies.”

Killian chuckled, taking a slow sip of his drink.

“She wants to destroy me,” he murmured. “How cute.”

Axel’s jaw tightened. “This isn’t a joke, Killian. She’s not the girl you knew before.”

Killian leaned forward, his expression turning sharp.

“I don’t need her to be.”

Axel hesitated. “And if she actually becomes a threat?”

Killian smirked, his dark eyes flashing with something wicked.

“She won’t.”

Because Elena might think she was in control, but what she didn’t realize was—

This was still his game.

And he never lost.

The Next Night – The Auction House

Elena walked into the private auction dressed to kill.

A long black gown clung to her curves, the slit riding high up her thigh. A statement. A warning. A weapon.

Eyes turned as she walked in, curious and hungry, but she ignored them.

Tonight, she wasn’t here for them.

She was here for one man.

She spotted Killian the moment she entered.

Seated at the VIP section, a glass of whiskey in his hand, his dark eyes already locked onto her like a predator stalking his prey.

Elena smirked to herself. Let the games begin.

The auctioneer stepped onto the stage.

“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome. Tonight, we begin with a rare acquisition—an exclusive property worth over two hundred million dollars in the heart of Manhattan.”

Elena barely listened.

Because across the room, Killian lifted his glass toward her.

A silent challenge.

Her fingers curled around her bidding paddle.

She raised it.

The auctioneer’s voice boomed.

“Bid placed at two hundred and ten million!”

Killian smirked.

Then, he lifted his paddle.

“Two hundred and twenty million.”

Elena’s heart pounded.

This wasn’t about real estate.

This was about control.

She lifted her paddle again.

“Two hundred and thirty million.”

Killian’s smirk deepened.

“Two hundred and fifty.”

Gasps rippled through the crowd.

But Elena didn’t hesitate.

“Two hundred and seventy-five.”

Killian’s eyes darkened with something dangerous.

Then—

“Three hundred million.”

Silence.

The room held its breath.

Elena’s pulse raced, but she knew when to strike—and when to retreat.

She lowered her paddle.

The auctioneer’s gavel slammed down.

“Sold to Mr. Killian Graves!”

A round of applause filled the room, but Killian wasn’t paying attention to anyone else.

His gaze remained locked on her.

You win this round, she thought.

But she wasn’t done yet.

Not even close.

She turned and walked away, knowing he was watching her every step.

Let him watch.

Because soon?

She would make him beg.

Later That Night – Killian’s Penthouse

Killian stood by the glass window, his mind replaying the auction.

Elena thought she was in control.

She thought she was playing him.

But she didn’t understand something crucial.

She was still his.

And soon, she would realize it.

His phone buzzed.

A message.

Elena: Enjoy your win, Killian. It’ll be your last.

Killian smirked.

Oh, sweetheart.

The real game hadn’t even started yet.

The quiet wasn’t peaceful. It was suffocating.Elena sat on the edge of the hospital bed where Killian lay, his skin pale, his chest rising and falling in that slow, shallow rhythm that mocked her with every breath. Machines beeped softly in the background—too soft, too indifferent—like they didn’t know who he was, what he meant. She hadn’t slept. Not really. There was a blanket draped over her shoulders, given to her by a nurse whose face she couldn’t even remember now. Her hands were cold. Her heart colder. But her eyes remained locked on him like they were stitched to his outline.Killian Graves—ruthless, brilliant, infuriatingly stubborn—had taken a bullet for her. And now here he was, caught between worlds, silent."I told you not to make this a story of sacrifice," she whispered, reaching out to brush the back of her fingers against his cheek. "You promised me we’d come through this together. So where the hell are you now?"The room didn’t answer. The silence was its own cruel l

  • Owned by Billionaire   Chapter 144 – Lines in the Ashes

The morning sky had barely begun to shift from indigo to gray when Elena stood in the training yard of the Graves estate, her hands wrapped in black bandages, her hair tied back, the chill of the dawn clinging to her bare arms. She struck the heavy bag again and again, each blow sharp, controlled, but trembling with something beneath the surface—rage, grief, fear. All of it twisted together like a storm in her blood.Killian watched her from the patio, leaning heavily on a cane Reid had forced him to use while his ribs continued to heal. He didn’t interrupt. He just watched. She needed this. Not because she was preparing for a war—though that, too, was inevitable—but because it was the only way she knew how to breathe right now. Each strike was a memory. Her mother’s scream. Her father’s empty eyes. Dante walking away. Victor laughing in the shadows. Killian bleeding on the floor. Every ounce of powerlessness she’d ever tasted came out through her fists. When she finally stopped, ches

  • Owned by Billionaire   Chapter 143 – A Fragile Kind of Hope

The morning sun spilled through the windows, casting golden streaks across the marble floors of the estate. Everything was quiet—eerily so, as if the world was holding its breath in the wake of everything that had shattered, bled, and tried to rebuild. Elena sat at the edge of the bed, her hands folded in her lap, her gaze lost on the floor.Killian slept behind her, his chest rising and falling steadily. The wound—though brutal—was healing. Slowly. Painfully. But he was alive. That truth, fragile and brilliant, still hadn’t fully settled in her bones. She didn’t want to move, afraid that even the creak of the floor beneath her would break the fragile thread tethering them to this moment of peace.Peace.That word felt foreign on her tongue.“Elena,” came a rasp behind her, and she turned instantly.Killian’s eyes were open, a bit bleary but alert. He was propped on one elbow, looking at her as if she were the only constant he could trust in this unraveled world.“You’re awake,” she w

  • Owned by Billionaire   Chapter 142 – What We Rebuild

The silence after Sophia’s surrender felt deafening. Her gun lay forgotten on the floor, its cold metal glinting beneath the overhead lights. She didn’t cry. She didn’t scream. She just knelt there on the hardwood, shoulders squared as if even defeat had to be carried like a weapon.Elena stood frozen in the threshold, heart pounding in the hollow of her chest. Her breath came in shallow, jagged bursts. Every muscle ached from tension, but she didn’t let herself move—not until she was sure this moment wasn’t going to fall apart like the dozens before it.Killian gave a sharp nod to Reid, who moved forward and restrained Sophia with practiced efficiency. She didn’t resist.“I want the rest of the estate cleared,” Killian said, his voice like steel. “Top to bottom. Anyone left standing gets questioned. Anyone who shoots—”“Gets dropped,” Reid finished without missing a beat, already signaling the team through his comms.Dante stood unmoving in front of Elena. His chest rose and fell, ey

  • Owned by Billionaire   Chapter 141 – The Quiet Before

The morning sunlight streamed through the windows, warm and golden, wrapping the quiet room in a glow that made everything feel fragile and too perfect to last. Elena lay still, eyes open, watching the way the rays filtered through the sheer curtains. The world outside was waking up, but inside the room, there was only the gentle rise and fall of Killian’s breath beside her.He hadn’t stirred. His face, usually so guarded, was soft in sleep. Vulnerable. Like the man who’d once whispered promises in a church pew, before the world had tried to take everything from them. Her fingers brushed his jaw, careful not to wake him. She wasn’t ready to break the silence between them, not yet. Not after everything. Not after the warehouse, the blood, the fear that had carved new scars inside her.But today was different.Because they’d survived.Because they were still here. Together.Elena rose quietly, slipping from the bed and moving to the window. She pulled the curtain aside and stared out at

  • Owned by Billionaire   Chapter 140: What We Choose

The rain came softly that morning, tapping against the windows like a gentle whisper. Elena woke to the sound of it and lay still for a moment, her eyes half open, watching the patterns it painted on the glass. Killian’s arm was draped loosely over her waist, his breathing even, the warmth of his body grounding her.Peace, she’d learned, wasn’t always dramatic. Sometimes it came quietly, like this. She turned slightly to look at him. His dark lashes were shadows against his cheekbones, and for a man who had carried entire empires on his shoulders, he looked almost… vulnerable in sleep.Elena smiled faintly and brushed a lock of hair from his forehead. He stirred at her touch. “Staring at me again?” he murmured without opening his eyes.“Maybe.”“Did I drool?”“No. You just looked… peaceful.”He cracked an eye open. “That’s because I slept next to you.”Her heart did that thing again—fluttered without her permission. She was still getting used to this version of Killian. Not the ruthle
