The city never slept, but tonight, Elena Romano was awake for a different reason.

From the penthouse balcony of the Grand Royale Hotel, she stood with a glass of champagne, staring at the glittering skyline of New York—the city that had witnessed her family’s downfall.

The city that had once been her home… and her grave.

Six years ago, she had been buried under the weight of betrayal.

She had lost everything. Her family. Her name. Her love.

And now, she was back.

Not as Elena Romano. That girl was dead.

Now, she was Raven Black—a billionaire, a queen in her own right, and a woman with only one purpose.

Revenge.

And the man she had come for was standing just across the room.

Him.

Killian Graves.

Her first love. Her greatest mistake. The man who had once held her heart and then shattered it into a million pieces.

Dressed in a perfectly tailored black Armani suit, he was the center of attention, towering over everyone in the ballroom. His presence demanded respect, his sharp jawline, piercing dark eyes, and perfectly styled hair making him the kind of man no one dared to cross.

He looked every bit the powerful billionaire and kingmaker he had become.

And he hadn’t changed.

He was still cold, still untouchable, still exuding that lethal charm that had once made her fall.

Only this time, she wasn’t here to fall.

She was here to destroy him.

She lifted the champagne flute to her lips, but before she could take a sip—

He looked at her.

From across the crowded ballroom, their eyes met.

And just like that, time stood still.

Elena felt her stomach tighten, her pulse spike.

He knows.

A slow, knowing smirk curled on his lips. Dark. Amused. Dangerous.

It was the same smirk he used to give her before he claimed her.

A shiver ran down her spine, but she forced herself to smirk back, cold and calculated.

He may have ruined her before.

But this time?

She was here to ruin him.

***

Six Years Ago…

"Say it again," he growled, his hands gripping her waist, pinning her against the cold marble wall of his penthouse.

"Killian, you’re crazy—"

"Say it."

His lips hovered inches from hers, teasing, taunting. His breath was warm, his grip possessive.

Elena swallowed, her heartbeat racing.

"I love you," she whispered.

His eyes darkened before he crashed his lips against hers—hungry, deep, claiming.

She never stood a chance.

***

Present Day…

“Elena…” His voice slid over her skin like a slow caress.

She snapped back to reality to find Killian standing right in front of her.

The crowd had parted for him like the sea, and now he was here. Towering. Dominating. A king reclaiming his territory.

His presence was just as overwhelming as she remembered, sending a thrill of fury and something far more dangerous through her veins.

“I go by Raven now,” she said, swirling her champagne. “Elena Romano is dead.”

Killian smirked, tilting his head. “Is she?” His dark eyes dragged over her, slow and deliberate, like he was memorizing every inch of her. “Because I’d know her anywhere.”

Her grip on the glass tightened.

“Then you should have found her,” she shot back, voice cold. “Oh, wait—you were too busy watching my family burn.”

His smirk didn’t waver, but his eyes darkened.

“You think I let that happen?” His voice was dangerously soft.

She refused to let his words affect her.

This was the man who had let her family be destroyed.

This was the man who had taken everything from her.

So why did her body still remember the way he felt?

“You’re not worth my time, Killian.” She turned to walk away.

But he grabbed her wrist.

It was too fast, too sure—the way his fingers wrapped around her like he still owned her.

The crowd was still watching, but Killian didn’t care.

“I don’t believe in ghosts,” he murmured, stepping closer. “But I do believe in unfinished business.”

Elena tilted her chin up, refusing to show weakness. “I don’t have business with you.”

He chuckled. Low, deep, amused. “Then why are you here?”

She didn’t answer.

She wouldn’t give him the satisfaction.

Instead, she leaned in, her lips brushing close to his ear as she whispered—

“Maybe I came back to destroy you.”

Then she ripped her wrist free and walked away.

But even as she left, she could feel his gaze burning into her.

Across the Room…

Victor DeLuca watched the entire exchange, a smirk curling on his lips.

Interesting.

Very interesting.

Victor was no fool. He had spent years trying to dismantle Killian’s empire, but the bastard was too smart, too ruthless.

But this?

This was an opportunity.

Elena Romano wasn’t just a ghost from Killian’s past.

She was the only woman who had ever made him bleed.

And now?

Now, she was back in Killian’s world—his biggest weakness, his greatest threat.

Victor chuckled, sipping his whiskey.

Oh, this was going to be fun.

Later That Night…

Elena stepped into her penthouse, shutting the door behind her.

The moment she was alone, she exhaled, her body still buzzing from the encounter.

She had expected to feel satisfaction seeing Killian again.

But instead, all she felt was… heat. Tension. A dangerous pull she hated.

Her phone buzzed.

Unknown Number.

She frowned before answering. “Who is this?”

A deep, familiar voice sent shivers down her spine.

“You can change your name, but you’ll never escape me, Elena.”

She sucked in a sharp breath.

Killian.

“I suggest you stop playing games,” he continued, his voice smooth, dark. Deadly.

She gritted her teeth. “Or what?”

His chuckle was low, lethal. “Or you’ll remember exactly who you belong to.”

A rush of anger surged through her. “I belong to no one.”

Another chuckle. Then—

“We’ll see.”

The line went dead.

Elena stared at her phone, her pulse racing.

Damn him.

Damn him to hell.

But as much as she wanted to pretend otherwise…

Hell was exactly where she was going.

And Killian Graves would be right there waiting for her.

To Be Continued…

  • Owned by Billionaire   Chapter 160 – What Comes After

It began with the quiet. The kind of stillness that used to make Elena restless. A world without threats, without blood or vengeance, without the constant need to fight for space, identity, or truth. At first, it felt like a vacuum. A silence too deep, too clean. But slowly—day by day—it became something else.It became peace.A life.A future. She stood barefoot in the kitchen of their coastal home, the morning sun pouring through tall windows. The air smelled like sea salt and fresh coffee. Killian was by the stove, flipping pancakes with a contented look on his face, his dark hair still tousled from sleep. He looked normal here. Human. Real. Not the ruthless billionaire or the cold strategist the world once feared. Just Killian. Just hers.“Remind me again when you became a breakfast guy?” Elena asked, leaning against the counter with a mug in hand.Killian smirked. “Since I realized it’s the only time of day I can bribe you into sitting still.”She laughed, setting her mug down an

  • Owned by Billionaire   Chapter 159 – The Quiet After

The first snowfall of winter dusted the sidewalks of Manhattan like a delicate sigh, soft and clean, as if the city itself had decided to forgive. Elena stood in the front courtyard of the Romano-Graves Initiative, watching children laugh and chase snowflakes in the garden her mother had once dreamed of.It was quiet. Not the suffocating silence of fear or the thick hush of grief—but the kind of quiet that came after the final page of a book. The kind that made you close your eyes and breathe. Finally.“Thought I’d find you here,” Killian’s voice called gently behind her.She turned, her scarf fluttering in the breeze. “Where else would I be?”He walked toward her with his hands in his coat pockets, the corners of his mouth twitching up in that familiar, barely-there smirk that used to drive her mad. Now it was home.“You’ve been out here for an hour,” he murmured, brushing a snowflake from her shoulder. “You okay?”Elena hesitated. “I think so.”That was the thing no one told you abo

  • Owned by Billionaire   Chapter 158 – One Last Oath

The late autumn wind swept through the open windows of the Manhattan brownstone, carrying with it the scent of change. Elena stood in the grand living room—now stripped of the shadows that once defined it—and stared out at the skyline. The city was healing. And so was she.Killian’s voice floated in from the hallway, low and steady as he spoke on the phone with Reid about the foundation’s upcoming launch. The Romano-Graves Initiative had officially received city approval. Permits were signed. The press conference was scheduled. The center in Queens was already undergoing its first stage of renovation. It was happening.Everything they’d fought for—the lives lost, the betrayals endured, the legacy rebuilt—had led to this. But despite the progress, Elena couldn’t shake the feeling that something was still unsettled. Like a story not yet fully told.“Still brooding?” Ava appeared at the archway, her eyes narrowed knowingly.Elena smiled faintly. “Just… thinking.”“You’ve been doing a lot

  • Owned by Billionaire   Chapter 157 – Full Circle

The early morning sky hovered between dark and dawn—the kind of quiet that the world holds when it’s between endings and beginnings. Elena stood at the edge of Greenwood Cemetery, clutching a single white lily in her gloved hand. The wind carried the scent of earth and mourning, but also hope. She wasn’t sure what she expected to find here. Closure? Peace? Maybe something that resembled forgiveness. But all she felt was a raw kind of significance: she had returned to the place where her story had lost its innocence.Ahead of her, the granite marker carved “Margaret Romano” caught the dim light. Beneath it were dates—1970 to 2005—her mother’s life, a lifetime ended far too soon. Elena knelt, gently placing the lily beside the headstone. The leather folders she kept in her coat pocket—documents, letters, the things she had uncovered about Margaret’s life—rested against her side like a burden she was finally ready to set down.“Hey,” came a soft voice behind her.Elena looked up to see K

The world didn’t end. It didn’t pause to honor the dead. It didn’t hold its breath for the broken.Instead, it moved forward—unbothered, relentless, and alive.Elena sat by the tall windows of Killian’s penthouse, legs tucked under her as she sipped coffee from a delicate black mug. Below her, the city thrived. Horns blared. People bustled along the sidewalks. Buildings glittered in the early light. Her phone buzzed on the marble table beside her. She glanced at it, expecting another security update from Reid or a message from Ava checking in.But it was neither.Unknown Number. She stared at it for a moment. Her chest tightened—but she answered.“Elena Romano,” she said, voice calm and even.Silence hummed for a beat too long. Then: “You did it.”The voice was low, familiar, and lined with smoke. A woman.Elena stiffened. “Who is this?”“I watched the house burn from across the river. Victor is gone, isn’t he?”“Yes,” Elena said. “Who are you?”“You don’t know me, but I knew your m

The fire lit the sky like a dying god’s last scream.Elena stood at the edge of the road, her fingers laced tightly with Killian’s, watching the estate collapse into itself. Flames licked at the windows, swallowing the opulence, the corruption, the memories. What once was the seat of Victor’s power now crumbled into a pyre of guilt and retribution. And Elena didn’t flinch. She felt it—the weight of what she’d done—but it didn’t crush her. It settled into her bones like truth. Heavy, but necessary.Killian’s thumb rubbed slow circles against the back of her hand. He hadn’t spoken in the last five minutes, but his silence wasn’t cold. It was reverent. As if he understood she needed the quiet, the stillness to say goodbye in her own way. Finally, Elena turned away.“Let’s go.”He gave her a nod and led her to the car. The door shut with a quiet finality, muffling the distant roar of the fire. She leaned her head against the window, watching the last hints of red and orange disappear behi
