Chapter 24

Azure trudged through the forest, keeping his eyes peeled for any signs of danger. The moon was high in the sky, casting a silvery glow over the trees. It was a beautiful night, but Azure had little time to appreciate it. He had a job to do, and he had to focus on that.

As he walked, he caught sight of Fiona out of the corner of his eye. He tried to ignore her, but she kept looking at him which made him conscious.

Azure knew that Fiona liked him. He could feel it in the way she looked at him, in the way she smiled at him. But he couldn't let himself get too close to her. He didn't want to give Francine any reason to doubt him.

He wished that they could finish this mission so he could go back to Francine. He missed her terribly, and he longed to hold her in his arms again. But he couldn't let his guard down. Not when there were dangers lurking around every corner.
