Episode One

CHAPTER ONE

SARAH'S POV

Life is never fair, and In this Game of living, it was already leading me two to nothing. I am a girl who has no mother, no father, No grandparents, no aunt or uncle, no one. But myself, living in this cruel world. working my ass off everyday and still, I could barely put food on the table for myself

I pulled out the last box from the apartment and when I turned, My eyes met with the sad face and puffed eyes of Celine, my very good neighbor

We've been good friends for as long as I can remember, and she was really sad that I was leaving and so was I

"Do you really have to go? You could find a way to sort your financial crises" she tried to encourage me but I only sighed and smiled bitterly

"Say something, we could have Clara talk to the landlord..." I didn't let her finish. it would be better if she didn't give herself false hopes

And I honestly wished I could do that, but leaving was the best option for me now. I had gone through enough embarrassment from Mr. Bryan and wasn't willing to take more

"Even if he agrees to let me stay, it won't be for a long time, so the best to do, is to leave to where I wouldn't have to worry about the rent bill" I said and a fat tear rolled down her eyes

"Hm! — she sighed heavily, and continued—I would just see you off then"

I wasn't the so emotional type, crying was not my thing, no matter the situation. My dad always made me believe that crying was for the weak, the vulnerable. He made sure to make me believe that I was strong

"You don't have...." I was saying but the voice of Mr. Bryan, the landlord caught my attention

"Sarah! I thought you already left?" He asked

"I was actually on my way" I replied

"Be fast about it will you? My new tenant is waiting" He said harshly. I nodded slightly and made my way out of the apartment vicinity, with Celine clinging on me

"Wow! I thought this was supposed to be an uncivilized area?" Celine said, as we both stared wide eyed, mouth agaped and in shock, at the so beautiful array of well structured buildings. This wasn't near anything I imagined. It was a bustling city

We couldn't enjoy the pleasure of viewing the environment when someone spoke

"Hello Miss" It was a gaurd

"Hi" I answered with a smile plastered on my face

"How can I..." He was interrupted by another voice, this one was more authoritative

"Who are you? And what are you doing here?"

"Umm..I am Sarah..Sarah Anderson, the granddaughter of Mr. Robert Anderson" I answered, with a smile and my palm streched out for a handshake

The man just starred, but didn't acknowledge it, which made my cheeks burn red in embarrassment

"So....what are you doing here?" He asked sternly, making Celine crease her brows and moved behind me

"I just said that I am the granddaughter of Mr. Robert Anderson" I replied with a matching expression and tone and he smirked

I shouldn't have said that, and I regretted my actions almost immediately

I was going to apologise, but his next reply made me change my mind

"And how is that supposed to be my problem?" He asked with his right eye brow raised

'Such a rude person' I complained, to myself

"Sigh! I have no idea why I'm wasting my time, giving you explanations, when I'm supposed to be relaxing" I said and tried to leave, but he stopped me

"Don't you have at least, good moral upbringing? You come into my land, without any invitation...." He was saying, but I cut him off

I wasn't going to let him speak to me in a rude manner like that, no matter who he was

I mean, I should be the one calling him a perpetrator, because the property belonged to me by inheritance from my late Grandpa

"No, I think you're the one with a poor moral standard. Is that how your Mama taught you to treat your 'visitors' ?" I asked, making sure to stress the word

"Besides, this land belongs to my grandpa, and I have every right whatsoever to come in and out as I want to" I said, looking at him with my eyes filled with all the fiercefulness it could contain

"Oh really! I don't think you paid very good attention in elementary school, cause if you did, you would have definitely known how to properly introduce yourself, to avoid confusions" he said and I rolled my eyes

"And also, what if your grandpa owns this land, we didn't just decide to situate our pack here, we have...." The man continued, but couldn't finish as I had cut in

"I am not interested in knowing all that, at least not now, there are many things in my head that I need to clear up first" I said, and he shook his head

'Such ignorance could lead to ones ending' he muttered, I heard it, but decided to ignore it

"Let's go Celine" I said, making an attempt to leave again, but of course he had to stop me

"What's your peice man? Let us go, it's not like we were causing any trouble" Celine said and I nodded in agreement

We made an attempt to leave again, this time, he grabbed my wrist violently, and pulled me backwards

"That hurt! Let go of my hand" I said in a wince

"You need to come see the Alpha, I tried talking reasonably with you, but you're trying to prove stubborn" he said and dragged me with him

Celine was pulling my arm too, an we both began to scream for help

"Don't bother shouting, I am the beta of this pack, so no one would come to your aid" he said and continued dragging my arm

"What are you even saying, beta , Alpha and so on, what are those?" Celine asked, still screaming though

"Hey! Why are you hurting them?" A man asked

I sighed in relief, Finally a Messiah, would save us from the hands of this lunatic

"This is none of your business Jack" he said sternly

"It is my business, I can't watch you hurt this women all in the name of protec...." He was saying, but the mean man shunned him

"I said this is none of your business, stop poke nosing" quite a temper there

"Why are you even here by the way?" Maybe he wasn't actually a Messiah, I mean… he didn't look like he was in any position to try helping us out

" I was passing by and I saw you harrasing these ladies, I couldn't just sit and watch" the guy named Jake defended

"I wasn't harassing them, just get the hell out of here" the beta said

"You're just as ignorant as Liam, you didn't even care to check into her background, before treating them badly, I heard her say she is the granddaughter of Mr. Robert Anderson. Did you care to verify? No....." Jake talked on and on but the next minute, a punch landed on his face

Jake groaned in what I assumed to be anger, though he didn't fight back, I could see anger burning in his eyes

"We don't allow strangers in here without the permission of Alpha Liam, does she have any proof to show that she is the heiress of this property, she could be an impersonator, or a spy...she could be your spy" he said

"Because I see no reason why this should bother you" he continued

"Then you should investi...."

"That's exactly what I'm doing, I tried asking her questions but she was trying to play stubborn, now I'm taking them to the Alpha's chamber" the beta retorted

Celine and I just stood there, staring at the both of them

"If you do not want me pulling you forcefully and embarrassingly, come with me" he said in an ordering tone

Knowing fully well that I had nothing to hide, I signaled to Celine and we followed him

We had barely walked ten steps, when a very loud bang echoed, together with the agonized screams of people

With an impulse, the beta ran to the direction, looking up, I was short of words from what I saw

"Could this day get any worse?" Was my statement, before the whole place turned pitch black
