Hide & Seek
Alina crept out of the house to look for the mermaid in the pond. She glanced around to make sure none of the servants were nearby.
“Are you here, Ms. Mermaid?” she hissed. Silence.
“Ms. Mermaid?” she called, this time a little louder. But her calls were met with silence. She looked down and noticed that there were muddy footprints coming out of the water. Frowning, she followed the footprints, and to her horror, the prints went towards the house!
“Yikes!” she exclaimed. If her uncle saw the mermaid, all hell would break loose!
She quickly ran towards the mansion, determined to stop Jason from meeting the mermaid. What if he drove her away? Or worse, sent her to a zoo or circus? E

Jason was looking outside the window from his office on the twenty second floor. He stared at the city’s view which lay in front of him. The dazzling sun shone over the streets, illuminating the landscape.The buildings in the vicinity were tall but not as tall as Jason’s skyscraper which stood at twenty two storey high. He could see the people on the streets, looking like tiny moving ants and the cars looked like small boxes, stacked together. The Mermaid gently stroked Alina’s head and kissed her. She had helped the little girl to clean up the wounds and applied medicines on them. Alina refused to talk out of fear but the Mermaid felt the girl’s pain. It astounded her that humans were not just cruel to other creatures but would also harm their own kind, especially a child.She sighed and kept on patting Alina.
