Chapter 4

Ava's POV

Through out the whole meeting Ethan kept glaring at me, it was really making me uncomfortable, I had to excuse myself before I started sweating.

Of course I went to my room, minutes later Tristan followed me, I was on the bed on my phone when my door opened and he poked his head inside before walking in.

"I know you'd be in here" he said plopping down on the bed close to me, I just sighed without saying anything and he looked up at me.

"You good sweet cheeks"? He asked using the nickname he gave me since we were kids, it always made me smile so he used it whenever he sensed I was down, which always happened whenever Ethan was present.

"I'm fine Tris, it's just...... Never mind" I told him going back to pressing my phone, he got up and snatched the phone from me.

I looked at him tiredly, wanting to take the phone but he just held it up.

"Spill, what is it"? He asked me

"Tristan it's nothing okay, give it back" I told him trying to take my phone but I couldn't, it's times like this I wish I was as tall as Elaine, she could easily take this phone if she wanted to.

"I'm not giving it back until you talk, what's wrong with you"? He pressed and I just sat back with a sigh.

"Fine, I'm not really okay" I told him playing with my fingers "it's Ethan" I whispered out and he just raised his brows at me.

"You're wrong, he didn't change, he's still the same jerk that left five years ago" I told him and he sat down properly to hear me

"Why do you say that"? He asked

"Well, he came into my room last night, obviously to warn me about staying out of his business and out of his way" I said trying to make my voice sound like this

Tristan just burst out with a laugh

"Yeah yeah laugh all you want, it's not funny" I said with a pout.

"It's not funny but the way you said it, made it funny" he said still laughing "come on sweet cheeks, maybe he was just kidding" he said more composed this time.

"Kidding? Does Ethan ever kid about anything with me? Did you see how he kept glaring at me today in dad's office"? I asked him.

"Ava you're just being paranoid okay, he won't do anything, he's just messing with you" Tristan explained "come on, how about we go out tonight, to a club maybe" he suggested handing me back my phone.

"A club Tristan"? I asked raising my brows at him and he just nodded "I'm not going to be drinking anything alcohol" I told him.

"Fine, oh and by the way Ethan's coming too" he said nonchalantly and my eyes widened.

"What? Ethan's coming"? I asked and he nodded "then I'm not coming, I just told you he warned me about staying out of his way and you want me to go to a club with both of you"? I told him.

"Ava, he's not going to bite you and besides I'll be there too, you have nothing to worry about" he explained, this was not going to end well.

I just sighed and went back to pressing my phone, if I was going to a club with them then I'll have to go to my apartment, there's no way dad would let me go to a club from here.

I had to lie about meeting Tristan for something important, that way I can go to my apartment and get dressed.

___________________________________________

Tristan picked me up at 7:30pm at my place and we went straight to the club, I was putting on a black leather skirt, it was short but not too short, at least I was comfortable in it.

It had slits on the side, and I paired it with a white top, I got myself not too long ago.

I even put a little bit of make up, I don't know why I dressed up, scratch that, I do know why I dressed up, at least maybe he'd notice me now.

We had only been here thirty minutes and Tristan was already tipsy, he has a low tolerance for alcohol,  I usually don't drink when I'm out with him so I was sipping on my cocktail when I felt his presence behind me in front of Tristan.

He was here already, I didn't want to look but then he had to go and ask what I was doing here, he made it sound like it was such a bad thing for me to be here

I looked up at him, he was wearing blue jean, a white shirt and he had a jacket over it, even with the numerous club lights I could still see the color of his eyes as they shine bright.

He walked over to the only vacant seat beside me and sat down.

I could see he was not comfortable, it made me wonder if he disliked me that much that even sitting close to me was uncomfortable for him.

He kept shifting in his seat, it was like something was eating him up, just then Tristan got up and moved close to my ear so I could hear him.

"Sweet cheeks I'm going to the dance floor" he whisper yelled

"Why? You don't dance" I asked him and he gave me a cheeky which meant only one thing.

His hand was on my lower back because he was a bit drunk and unstable

"I just wanna go talk to a very pretty girl I saw, don't worry I'll be back before you know it" he said

"Don't leave me here Tristan, you know I didn't bring my car" I warned him and he just reassured me before disappearing into the dancefloor

Ethan wasn't even paying attention to us, he was just sitting there looking all awkward.

I wanted to ask if he was okay but I remembered he had warned me to stay out of his business so I just kept my mouth shut and sipped my cocktail in silence

Just then a rather drunk looking guy walked over to where Tristan had just left and sat down.

He said hi to me and I replied, I could tell he wanted to talk to me but I wasn't really interested in talking to him.

He looked handsome no doubt but I just wasn't interested in whatever he had to say.

He offered to buy me a drink and i kindly refused, I was hoping he'd stop but no he went further to ask for a dance

I resisted the urge to groan loudly, but Ethan spoke before I even did.

"I'm sure the lady doesn't want your stupid drink, or a stupid dance with you so I'd suggest you take your game elsewhere" he barked at the guy, I turned and faced him on my chair, his jaw was clenched.

I hope I'm not in trouble, he has never spoken up for me before, I just hope I'm safe

"And who the fuck do you think you are"? The stranger asked, God can he just stop?

"Who I am doesn't matter but it will if you don't get your stupid face out of this place before I mess it up for you" Ethan said through gritted teeth, he had already stood up and I could see his fists balled up.

"Ethan, don't" I said putting my hands on his chest and standing between both of them, I honestly don't know why I did that but the last thing I wanted was to have Ethan fighting.

He glared at me but u didn't back down, the strange guy just scoffed before muttering under his breath and walked away

Thank God he did.

Ethan just stepped away from me and sat on his chair, for a while I thought he wouldn't say anything but I was so fucking wrong

"I'm pretty sure that's the kind of attention you wanted dressed like that to a club" he said in a mocking tone, his eyes running down my body judgementally.

"Ethan please, not now" I put my hand up trying to shut him up but he wasn't having it.

"What? You don't like the truth Ava? you're practically dressed like this in a club so what do you expect" he spat, I just looked at him because I didn't expect him to say that.

He scoffed and walked past me his shoulders brushing against mine.

I should never have come here, I looked to the dancefloor and Tristan was busy dancing his life away, he was fucking high and there's a huge possibility he won't even be able to drive me home, I went over to him and told him I was going home, he looked surprised because it was still early

I just lied that I needed to rest I was having a migraine, he bought it or maybe he just didn't want to argue because he was obviously very drunk to even argue, he watched me call an Uber and stayed until the Uber drove me away before he went back in, with his date of course.

I hated how tonight turned out.

What was I expecting anyway, that Ethan would finally remotely even like me as a friend let alone a sister?

Who am I kidding

That's next to impossible.
