ALEXA

"Alexa-" Levi murmured, then paused, gauging my reaction.

With a sigh, I left our son's crib. I really didn't want to have the conversation he was sure to bring up right now. I needed time to process all he had said to me before. I left the nursery, hoping he would take the hint and drop the issue. I went to the bedroom, sat on the bed, but Levi was still right behind me.

"We need to talk, Alexa. Please," he said.

"You have already said everything there is to say."

"But you haven't given me an answer yet."

"Look, each of us has a lot to do today. So why don't we just drop this?" I suggested.

"Both of us will function better today if you give me an answer. Let's leave the past behind us and face the future together. Marry me, Alexa."

"It's not as simple as that," I grumbled.

"But it is. The complications are all in your head."
