Chapter 6

(Gabriel's POV)

I felt stunned when that lady bumped into me.

“Easy, Nurse. Watch where you’re rushing to,” I said, my tone cold as ice, thinking she was one of those nurses who wanted to gain my attention.

However, I smelled that sweet lemon scent emanating from her. Instead of shouting at her, I stood there speechless, watching her dash into the elevator before she looked up at my face.

Her jaw dropped as our gazes met. Her lips trembled, wanting to say a word, but I caught the trace of tears in her eyes.

The elevator shut before I could even stop her.

Why did my chest ache when I saw her red eyes? Who is she? She didn’t seem like a nurse here in my hospital.

“Jett,” I called.

“Yes, boss,” Jett said as he stepped forward and stood watching me.

“Find out who that lady is,” I ordered, and Jett responded, “Got it.”

I knew that I shouldn’t concern myself with her. But it had been a long time since I had perceived that sweet lemon scent.

One rainy night, I was attacked by some 1% MC bikers and saved by a young lady on the street who had that sweet lemon scent too.

I couldn’t see her face. She was just a passerby, but she helped save me and stopped the bleeding, before my men came to take me away.

My fists clenched because I went back to the area to search for the girl, but no one living around could give me a clue about who she was. But she had that same lemon scent as that young lady.

I swore to find the lady again. But it had been four years, yet no success.

Sighing, my expression remained cold as Dr. Nolan Bodhi stepped forward to meet me. He was a middle-aged man sporting a white doctor’s coat, black trousers, and shoes. He had brown skin and short brown hair.

“Welcome, Don,” Dr. Nolan greeted me, and I met his gaze.

“That’s fine. I came here to discuss the critical condition in the hospital this week,” I said to Dr. Nolan as he led me to his office.

“Don, we have three severe cases this month of kidney failure that need urgent kidney transplant surgery. While two of the families have paid, the third family...” Dr. Nolan shook his head as he sat across from me in his vast office chair.

“I do not think that they can afford the cost of the surgery,” Dr. Nolan finished, his gaze lowered and his voice melancholy.

“How much is the cost of the surgery?” I asked, even though the hospital was mine. I built it barely three years ago as a dedication to that young woman who saved my life.

Because of my vast wealth, the Milos Hospital ranked highest. But while the folks living in this city might not be aware, I discreetly helped save the lives of those who can’t afford it.

“Ten million, sir,” Dr. Nolan replied.

“How much were the patient’s family able to deposit?” I inquired, my gaze fixed on Dr. Nolan’s face.

“Only Five hundred thousand.”

The office fell silent as I demanded, “How many weeks did you give the family to pay up the debt?”

“One week.”

“Hmmm. If they are unable to pay, find a donor and a matching transplant, and commence with the surgery. The family will owe the hospital.”

I rose to my feet to leave, and Dr. Nolan responded, “Thank you, Don.”

“You don’t have to thank me,” I replied dismissively.

I turned and exited Dr. Nolan’s office. As I prepared to leave, Oliver, my third-in-command, stepped forward to meet me. He wore black clothing, had fair skin, and was 28.

“Boss, do you think such a family will be able to pay you back?”

“You don’t have to worry about that. It’s my duty to save lives as a favor I owe that unknown girl,” I replied calmly as I moved into the elevator.

Dr. Nolan called out to me, “Boss, would you like to see the patient?”

“No need. Let them do their part first.”

Dr. Nolan nodded and watched me get into the elevator. The door slammed shut, the sound blocking out the noise from outside.

I rode to the last floor with my men. The elevator swung open, and I got out and strode to my car.

Jett rushed to meet me. “Boss, I couldn’t find any information on the nurse. Most of the nurses said they didn’t know her.”

“Mmm. Keep an eye on her. I’m guessing you’ll see her some other time. Station some men to keep watch in case she returns to this hospital,” I said, my tone firm.

“Got it, boss.” Jett stepped back, and I got into my Jeep. Just as Oliver shut the door and got into the front seat with my driver, my bodyguard got into his car. The road was silent as the car drove out of the hospital premises and headed for my home.

Since it was Friday, I made my visit to the hospital.

I sighed, looking out of the car and staring at the busy road.

My phone rang in the silence of the car. The loud ringtone jolted me back to reality.

When I reached for the phone, I stared at the caller ID.

It was Fiona Benjamin, my childhood friend, calling me.

I didn’t want to answer Fiona’s call. I had told her countless times that I didn’t fancy her or want her.

Fiona dialed my number again when I refused to answer.

“What is it?” I asked coldly.

“Help, Gabriel. Please...” Her voice sounded scared, like she was in trouble. The sound of tables crashing and bottles breaking filled the air.

“Where are you?” I asked her, and she said, “Roland’s Club.”

“Mmm. I will be there,” I replied and ended the call, then ordered Samuel, my driver.

“Take me to Roland’s Club.”

“Got it, boss.” Samuel sped up the car and drove off to Roland’s Club.

A few minutes later, the car screeched to a halt. I threw the door open and jumped out before dashing into the club.

What could be wrong with Fiona? Is this one of her tricks to make me come to her?

Fiona was my father’s butler’s daughter. She grew close to me, but I protected her like a sister I didn’t have. I was the only child, and so I treated Fiona well. But since she graduated as an accountant, she chose to serve as a stripper in clubs instead of working in my company, where I placed her.

I had heard rumors that Fiona wanted me to marry her. But I made it clear to her that I only saw her as a sibling.

When I dashed into the club, the atmosphere was thick with the scent of blood, alcohol and broken chairs and seats were scattered around.

“Fiona!” I called, my voice loud and clear, as the club was silent.

A man dashed out, wearing a yellow top and black trousers, trying to escape. As he moved toward me to run out of the club, I grasped his shirt and yelled at his face, “Where are the girls?”

(Gabriel's POV)When I strode into the hotel's building, most staff lowered their heads as they noticed my bodyguards escorting me. I had warned Oliver and Samuel to wait for me at the Jeep. If they were to follow me, then my disguise would be of no use.I strode to the private elevator and rode up to the seventh floor, where my father’s presidential suite was. When I arrived at the door, the bodyguard informed me, “The young lady has arrived, boss.”My fist tightened at my sides, and I watched the bodyguard stationed at the entrance of the hotel room pull the door open. When I stepped into the room, I was welcomed by that sweet, lovely voice that made my heart skip a beat. It reminded me of that young lady who had cradled my head on her thighs four years ago.Though I was losing consciousness then, I could still remember her pleading voice. “Please don’t die, sir. Stay with me.” She shook me just before my father’s men arrived and took me away.I stood by the door, watching her. And

(Arianna's POV) Inside the hotel's room, Rose turned to face me and said, “Remember my warning, Arianna. Do not reveal to Don Milos that you are related to me or that I’m your stepmother. You should do as he requested, got it?” Her eyes glared at me as she pulled at her left ear. “Yes, Ma,” I replied, lowering my head. “Go change,” Rose whispered, her voice low as she gestured for me to go into the bathroom. Her eyes scanned around the room to make sure that no one was eavesdropping. She gazed at a red light, which I assumed was a CCTV camera. I drew a deep breath and went into the bathroom. First, I put the bag on the table in the room and went to have my bath in the bathroom. As the cool water hit my skin, I trembled but bathed quickly. When I got out of the bathtub, I wrapped a white towel around my chest. As I stepped out, I expected Rose to have left the room, but she sat across from me on a leather chair, her legs crossed, her eyes fixated on me. She gestured to the bag.

(Gabriel's POV) “They took them away. Please don’t hurt me,” the trembling man said as he peered at my face and lowered his head. “Who took them?” I asked, my voice low and dangerous. “Mr. Hunter,” he stammered, and my brows furrowed as I let go of him. Hunter Declan. I knew he worked for the rival mafia gang, the Hudson Group. Before I could ask further questions, my phone rang, and it was Roman Hudson calling me. “Roman, if you dare lay a finger on Fiona, I will destroy the entire Hudson Group,” I threatened, my fist clenched. Roman burst out laughing over the line. “I will like to see you try, Gabriel. Let’s make a deal. Only then can you get your girl back. It took me great effort to bring her here, so don’t think I will release her to you with a single threat. Marry my sister, Agatha Hudson, and you should hand over half of the Milos empire to her. Then I will release Fiona to you.” I stood silently. “And if I don’t?” I finally asked Roman. He laughed, his laughter cracki

(Arianna’s POV) When we stepped into the women’s clothing store, Rose gestured to the female sales representative, who strode over to meet us. Several young women were in the store. It was Friday, and the store buzzed with several shoppers busy selecting different dresses, handbags, and underwear. “Welcome, ma’am. What would you like to shop for?” the saleswoman asked kindly. She was tall, fair-skinned, and dressed in a yellow top and a black straight skirt, paired with black low-heeled shoes. Rose gestured to me once more. “This is my girl. Get her something sexy and hot. I want a short red dress and black lingerie for her. So make it fast.” “Alright, miss. Come with me,” the saleswoman said, leading me to the changing room. My body was filled with sweat because I had been anxious all day, after my mother was transferred to the Milos private hospital and the doctor demanded that I deposit eight million first for her kidney transplant surgery, before he could find a matching donor

  • Pregnant By The Mafia Don   Chapter 4

(Arianna’s POV) I stood waiting for my stepmother to make the call, as she dialed the number. Her tone shifted to a softer, sweeter sound as she said, “Hello, Don Milos. The Mafia Don.” “Who is this?” the old, crackly voice asked, and I felt a chill run down my spine. “It’s Rose. Your beautiful Rose,” she said, and Talia and I widened our eyes as Rose spoke affectionately to Don Milos Sr. Was Rose cheating on my dad with Don Milos? Or was she only helping him find a virgin to have fun with? Talia and I frowned, but when Talia shifted her gaze to stare at me, her eyes narrowed and she smirked. “Why are you calling me, Rose? Do you have any beautiful girl for me tonight?” Don Milos asked, his tone softening when he recognized it was my stepmother calling him with an offer. “Of course,” Rose said, her eyes meeting mine. “She is an ethereal beauty. You will like her when you see her, and she is a virgin too.” Talia scowled when she heard her mother say that. “I have heard these wo
