What are you doing to me? Please, stop!

Her scream tore through the thick canopy of the forest, but the damp trees swallowed the sound before it could reach the mountain trail. She kicked her legs wildly, her boots splashing into the cold puddle beneath them, but her efforts were useless.

He was far too heavy. His massive body pressed down on her like a slab of iron, pinning her soft frame deep into the dark, wet earth. The agonized roar that tore from his throat was barely human, a ragged sound born from a soul dragged back from the abyss of death. The curse of his fractured rebirth raged through his blood like liquid fire, blinding his mind to reason, mercy, or thought. He was no longer a man; he was a storm of raw, ancient instinct driven by a single, overwhelming necessity. He had to extinguish the excruciating ache burning behind his ribs, and the quiet girl beneath him was the only cure his wild blood recognized.

Quiet," he rasped, his voice a jagged bar of iron dragging through the dirt.

His large, calloused hand snapped up, pinning both of her wrists above her head with absolute ease. He pressed her hands into the mud above her brow, his grip so tight she could feel the hard bone of his palm crushing her delicate skin. With his free hand, he grabbed the bodice of her coarse woolen dress.

No! Please!" she sobbed, tossing her head from side to side to escape the heat of his face. "Please don't do this!"

The sound of tearing fabric echoed through the silent woods like a snapping branch. He ripped the thick homespun wool from her collar straight down to her waist in one swift, violent tug. The sharp tear exposed her small shoulders and the smooth, pale curve of her chest to the freezing mountain air. The cold wind bit into her skin, raising goosebumps along her neck, but the chill was instantly scorched away by the overwhelming heat of his chest coming down against hers.

She gasped as his bare skin slammed back into contact with hers. The contrast was terrifying. He was burning hot, slick with sweat and the blood from his open wound, while she was freezing, trembling from shock and fear.

"You are burning me," she wept, her voice breaking into pitiful hitches as she tried to twist her body away. "It hurts... you're tearing me apart!

"It burns me too," he growled against her skin. His mind was a shattered mirror of chaotic memories flashes of red skies, falling thrones, dark blood on stone, and the agonizing agony of a witch's ancient curse that had trapped his soul in darkness for centuries. He could not remember his name. He could not remember the kingdom he had ruled or the armies he had led. He only knew that the suffocating agony in his chest eased every time he touched her. "It burns... until I touch you.

He buried his hands into the thick folds of her skirts, his long, dark nails tearing through the linen underskirt with terrifying speed. She bucked against him, her small knee slamming into his thigh, but he didn't even flinch. He didn't seem to feel physical pain at all; his whole existence was locked onto the primal hunger driving him forward.

His hand found the bare skin of her thigh, his large, rough palm sliding up the soft flesh with a possessive, heavy pressure that made her stomach drop into nothingness.

"Don't touch me there!" she shrieked, tears blinding her vision as she pulled against her bound wrists until the skin bruised against the dirt. "Help me! Someone help me!

"No one is coming for you, he growled low in his chest. His heavy jaw brushed against her neck as he pulled her legs apart with his knee, forcing his broad frame between her thighs.

The intrusion was absolute and merciless. She felt the heavy, terrifying heat of his hard length pressing directly against her thin undergarments, threatening to break through the last barrier separating her innocence from his wild demand. He was huge, impossibly solid, and completely driven by the frantic need to embed himself in her very core.

"Listen to me," he panted, his breath hot and heavy against her throat, smelling of copper and dark magic. "Listen to me, girl. If I do not take this fire from my blood... I will tear this forest to ash. I will tear you to ash."

"I saved you… she whispered, her voice shrinking to a small, broken whimper that cut through the roaring wind. "I came to give you medicine...

His body shuddered violently at her words, a momentary wave of clarity flickering through the blinding golden light of his eyes. He stared down into her tear-stained face, seeing her wide, terrified eyes looking back at him, her lip trembling, her pale chest heaving with terrified gasps. For a fraction of a second, the ancient monster inside him recognized her innocence. He saw the sheer fragility of the human life he was crushing into the mud.

But then the curse flared again inside his chest, a white-hot spike of agony that felt like a blade twisting through his heart. He let out a strangled roar of pain, his teeth grinding together so hard a line of blood trickled from his lip.

He could not stop. The hunger was too great, the ache too deep.

He shoved her torn clothes completely out of the way, his large hand gripping the back of her head, entangling his thick fingers in her damp hair. He tilted her chin up, pinning her head against the muddy moss. His mouth slammed down onto hers, smothering her final scream in a brutal, possessive kiss that tasted of iron, rain, and fierce, unyielding dominance.

She tried to bite his lip, to fight him off with her remaining strength, but he used his heavy upper body to crush her chest, forcing all the air out of her lungs until her resistance began to crumble. His tongue invaded her mouth, taking over her senses entirely, consuming her breath until her head swam with dizziness.

His large hand slid under her lower back, lifting her hips completely off the cold ground. He tilted her frame upward, aligning her body with his with terrifying precision.

She felt the final barrier of her clothes shift away, the broad, scorching tip of his hardness pressing directly against her most sensitive flesh. The sheer heat of him made her skin sting, a sharp electric current shooting straight up her spine.

She let out a muffled whimper against his lips, her eyes rolling back as the overwhelming sensation took hold. As he pulled her flush against his heavy frame, her desperate cries slowly melted into sharp, breathless gasps, her mind completely short-circuiting under the crushing weight of his presence.

"You whisper sweet things, but your eyes are cold."Her voice trembled against his chest, barely louder than the wind rustling the pine needles in the dark canopy above them.Lyra stared up into his face through the thick shadows of the midnight forest. The golden fire that had burned in his eyes earlier was completely gone, replaced by a dark, glassy film that reflected the cold silver light of the moon. He was half-conscious, floating in a dangerous space between deep slumber and violent fever, his massive, heavy jaw resting against her forehead.Even though he seemed barely aware of where he was, his massive arm remained locked around her waist like a band of forged iron. Every time she tried to shift her body by an inch, his hold tightened, pressing her soft frame flush against the hard, scar-pitted plane of his chest. His head shifted slightly, his dark, matted hair brushing against her tear-stained cheek. His heavy eyelids fluttered open just enough for her to see those dark, gl

"I can't stay here with a monster."The words tasted like bile in her mouth, whispered into the cold darkness as she clutched the torn, damp linen of her dress to her chest. She turned her eyes away from the silent figure lying in the mud. Whether he was a dead corpse or a sleeping demon, it did not matter anymore. Staying beside him meant death, dishonor, or something far worse if whatever cursed spirit inhabited his body decided to wake again. Every second spent breathing the air near him felt like tempting a sleeping beast that could snap her neck with a single twitch of his fingers. On her hands and knees, she began to crawl away backward into the deep shadows of the brush. The sharp stones and jagged pine needles bit into her bare knees, leaving thin trails of dark blood behind her on the damp leaves, but she ignored the sting. Her breath came in quiet, terrified hitches, her chest heaving as she put inch after inch between her trembling frame and the giant lying beneath the fall

"Wake up... please, you have to wake up!"Her frantic voice cut through the stillness of the midnight air, shaking with a terror that made her teeth chatter uncontrollably. She shoved hard against his broad shoulders, her small palms pressing into the massive width of his chest, but he did not move an inch. He felt impossibly heavy, like a carved slab of black marble resting in the mud. The intense heat that had burned through his skin just moments before had completely vanished, replaced by an unnatural, bone-chilling cold that seeped straight into her wet fingers."Please!" she sobbed, her heart hammering wildly against her ribs as she pressed her ear back against his chest. She held her breath, straining to hear even the faintest pulse, the smallest flutter of life beneath his skin. There was nothing. No slow rise and fall of his ribs, no warm breath brushing against her forehead, no heartbeat. His flesh was as cold and still as the wet earth beneath them. It was as if the living,

"Don't leave me in the dark..."Her voice was nothing more than a broken whisper, lost in the heavy folds of the night. Her hands, small and stained with red mud, reached up on their own. She did not know why her fingers searched for his broad, burning shoulders, or why she held onto the very man who had just torn her world to pieces. The sharp, tearing pain in her lower belly still bit into her flesh like a hidden knife, but under the heavy, relentless rhythm of his body, that pain had turned into a thick, terrifying heat that pulsed straight through her blood. He did not stop. He could not. His large hands held her hips pinned to the damp ground, his long fingers pressing deep into her soft skin, leaving dark red marks that would turn purple by morning. Every time he drove his weight down into her, her body shook against the cold mud. The wet slap of skin against skin and the sound of his ragged breathing filled the quiet woods, drowning out the owl calls and the rush of the river.

Her eyes fluttered open, heavy with tears that pooled in her hair and washed into the black mud beneath her head. The darkness of the woods had settled thick around them, but his golden eyes burned through the shadows like two glowing coals, piercing right into her soul.He did not wait for her to speak. Before she could force a word past her dry, trembling lips, he thrust his hips forward, driving his massive length deep into her tight, untouched body in one sharp, unforgiving push.A high, breathless scream tore from her throat, but the sound was instantly lost to the wild wind howling through the tall pine trees above. A wall of blinding, white-hot pain split her in two.
