LOGINWhen Serenity and Jackson rushed into the villa, the living room was dark.
The only light came from the massive screen of the 100-inch TV, and the blue glow of Alex’s multiple monitors set up on the coffee table.
Alex sat there in his pajamas, wearing oversized headphones. His small fingers were moving across the keyboard so fast they were a blur.
"Alex?" Serenity called out.
"Shh," Alex didn't look back. "I'm almost there. 98%."
Jackson signaled Serenity to stay quiet. He walked behind the sofa, looking at the scrolling lines of code on the screen. It was complex, messy, and absolutely brilliant.
"Found you," Alex muttered.
He pressed the Enter key hard.
Beep.
On the TV screen, the news channel suddenly flickered. The signal was hijacked.
Instead of the reporter talking about Serenity’s scandal, a black screen appeared with a red logo: A Pacifier.
"Is that... a pacifier?" Serenity blinked.
"That's his hacker signature," Jackson grinned, crossing his arms. "Watch this."
A computerized voice spoke through the TV speakers:
"Hello, World. I am The Kid. And I hate liars."
Then, a series of files started popping up on the screen, broadcast to millions of viewers.
[EVIDENCE 1: Metadata Recovery]
The screen showed the "original sketches" posted by the accuser. Alex’s script peeled back the layers of the image like an onion, revealing the Creation Date: Yesterday.
"The sketches were drawn 24 hours ago," Alex said calmly to his parents. "They claimed they were from five years ago. Liars."
[EVIDENCE 2: Bank Transfer]
A bank statement appeared.
Source: Chloe Vanderbilt Personal Account.
Amount: $50,000.
Note: "Fake Art F*e".
Recipient: The anonymous "student".
"Gotcha," Jackson whispered, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction. "Chloe didn't even use an offshore account. Amateur."
[EVIDENCE 3: The Grand Finale]
"And now, for the best part," Alex typed a command.
The screen switched to a webcam feed. It was shaky and grainy, but the face was clear.
It was Chloe.
She was sitting in her bedroom, holding a glass of wine, laughing on the phone. She had no idea her laptop camera had been remotely activated.
Her voice echoed through the TV speakers:
"...I know! Serenity is ruined! Did you see the comments? Everyone thinks she is a thief. Jackson will dump her for sure... Hahaha!"
Serenity gasped. "He hacked her webcam?"
"You're live, Auntie Chloe," Alex mocked the screen.
On the screen, Chloe’s phone suddenly started buzzing uncontrollably. Text messages and alerts were flooding in. She looked confused, then looked at her laptop.
She screamed. "AHH! Why is the camera on? Turn it off! TURN IT OFF!"
She scrambled to cover the lens, knocking over her wine glass. The feed cut to black.
The silence returned to the living room.
Alex took off his headphones and sipped his chocolate milk. "Mission accomplished. Public opinion should flip in about... three, two, one."
Serenity checked her phone.
T*****r was exploding.

The comments that were cursing Serenity a minute ago were now praising her innocent and cursing Chloe's jealousy.
Serenity looked at her son. She felt like she didn't know him at all.
"Alex..." she walked over and knelt down. "That was... amazing. But also terrifying. You hacked a person's webcam?"
"She tried to hurt you, Mommy," Alex looked at her with innocent, big eyes. "Daddy said we must protect the family. Right, Daddy?"
Jackson walked over and ruffled Alex’s hair, bursting with pride.
"That's my boy. Remind me to give you a raise in allowance."
"Jackson!" Serenity scolded him, though she couldn't hide her smile. She hugged Alex tight. "Thank you, baby. You saved Mommy."
"You are welcome," Alex hugged her back, then whispered to Jackson over her shoulder. "That will be two bitcoin, Dad."
Jackson laughed. "Deal."
The scandal that threatened to destroy Serenity’s career was vaporized in ten minutes by a five-year-old.
"Now," Jackson stood up, his face turning serious again. "The cyber war is over. It's time for the real consequences."
"What are you going to do?" Serenity asked.
"Chloe humiliated herself," Jackson said coldly. "But that's not enough. She committed corporate espionage and defamation. Luke is already on his way to the police station with the evidence Alex found."
He kissed Serenity's forehead.
"Tomorrow, there will be one less Vanderbilt in New York high society. And one safe, happy Sterling family."

Sparks showered from the ceiling. The sound of tearing metal was deafening. The dining car groaned and tilted violently to the right. Tables, chairs, and expensive wine bottles slid down the slope, crashing into the wall.Jackson slammed one hand into a window frame, his other arm locked around Serenity’s waist. He stopped them from sliding into the pile of broken glass below."Don't let go!" Jackson shouted over the noise.Serenity looked down. Through the shattered window beneath them, she saw nothing but swirling snow and darkness. They were dangling over a canyon."The coupling is breaking!" Serenity yelled, pointing to the metal hook connecting their car to the rest of the train. "Close your eyes," Liam commanded softly. The nursery was dimly lit. Aurora and Alex lay on the large rug, pillows under their heads. Liam sat between them in a lotus position. Jackson and Serenity watched from the couch, feeling useless but alert."Grandpa, this is unscientific," Alex muttered, keeping one eye open. "Telepathy isn't real.""Quantum entanglement is," Liam placed a finger on Alex's forehead and another on Aurora's. "Connect."A pulse of violet light rippled through the room. The Dreamscape.Alex gasped. He wasn't on the rug anymore. He was standing on an endless plane of pure white water. The sky was white. That night, the Palace was quiet. But the air was heavy. In the royal nursery, five-year-old Aurora was tossing and turning in her bed. She was sweating.“No… go away…” she whimpered in her sleep.Around her room, objects began to react to her distress. Her teddy bears floated into the air. The heavy curtains rustled as if caught in a storm, though the windows were closed. The water in her glass began to boil.In the Dream:Aurora was standing in a field of grey ash. The sky was purple. In the distance, a massive Black Tower stretched up into the clouds. It looked like a needle piercing the sky.Standing at the top of the tower was a man. He didn't have a face. Just a smooth, white mask with a single vertical line drawn on it."Come here, little star," the man’s voice echoed inside her head. "Your light belongs to me."Shadowy hands reached out from the ground, grabbing Aurora’s ankles."Daddy!" she screamed in the dream. In the Real World:CRACK!The mirror on Aurora's wall shattered
