Chapter 1
Elena’s POV
My breath simmered, and I felt ecstatic for no reason. A sudden purge of strength well up in me, and I felt a little restless. My wolf growled in my head, panting and jerking. I don't know what it is, but something feels terribly wrong, and I can't place a finger on it.
“I'm sure it's nothing but nervousness.” I muttered under my breath. A knock came on the door, distracting me from my thoughts.
“Elena, your dress is here.” I heard Lisa's voice and jumped out of the bed excitedly. Today is my eighteenth birthday, and I have never been more excited in my life.
“Come in, Lisa!” I sang my words, and the door opened. I frowned, seeing the gown was all covered.
“Open it,” I grabbed the zipper of the cloth bag, and she snatched it away from me.
“Be careful Elena, you do not want to ruin your birthday dress. This is one of the most important ages you will turn in life. Every age has its significance and comes with something special.” Lisa began her lecture, and I just sat there on the bed listening to her.
“When you turned sixteen, you met your wolf. Now you are turning eighteen, you might just meet your mate.” Lisa said, and my heartbeat accelerated at the mention of that word, mate.
It felt as though something in me was being called and pulled away. A part of me seemed to be somewhere, lost and buried. I shivered, my breath heavy and fast.
“Elena are you okay?” Lisa asked worriedly.
“It's nothing, I've just been feeling a certain type of way since I woke up this morning. I'm sure it's because of my birthday. I'm really nervous about the party.” I said, discarding the feeling.
“Are you sure? You seemed quite shaken just now. Tell me if you are not feeling well. We can always postpone the birthday party.” Lisa said, and I shrugged.
“Nonsense! Why would you do something like that. We put in a lot into organising this party. Tell me, are the guests arriving? What of Father?” I asked her dismissing the previous topic.
“None of them have arrived yet, but they will soon. That's why you need to get ready as well.” Lisa said, and I nodded my head in agreement.
Finally, we were done with dressing me up. I looked beautiful in the short sleeveless gown. The golden jewellery sat perfectly on my neck, dropping down to my cleavage.
Lisa escorted me to the garden where my party was being held. The red and purple decorations lightened up the atmosphere and of my mood as well.
My father is one of the council elders, and so my family is a titled one in the pack.
“You look beautiful!” One of the boys complimented, and I smiled at him. The party started, and I didn't know if I was just in my feelings. But something felt wrong this night, and I don't know what.
It's the same feeling I've been having since this morning. I felt my breath seized, and I could barely lift my head up.
My stomach twisted in a knot, and I knew I had to retreat to my room.
“Lisa! I will be in my room in case anyone needs me.” I whispered into her ears and walked away. I was not about to let her scold me for walking out of my own party.
I pushed the door to my room open and slumped on the bed. I felt suffocated and restless. I sat up, but I still didn't feel calm.
My wolf whimpered in my head, and I panicked.
“What's wrong, Keila?” I asked her, but she said nothing to me.
“Now is not the time for you to go silent on me. Something is happening, and I need to know what the problem is. What's happening?” I asked her, but she kept panting.
All of a sudden, I felt my claws extending and my body growing heavy. Keila is willing to take over, which can only mean she wants to go for a run in the woods.
I didn't bother stopping her. Maybe it's one of those things you experience when you turn eighteen. I contemplated going through the front door.
“No… That's a bad idea, Lisa and Father won't let me leave.” I concluded and looked out the window. The garden is on the other side, so no one would see me leave if I were to go out right now.
I exhaled sharply and placed one of my legs out the window. I did the same with the second one. And with a push, I jumped out the window. My body hit the rough ground slightly, and I rolled over.
I peeped to see if there was no one lurking around. Good thing we don't have much staff. Immediately, I tiptoed out of the house gate successfully, I ran as fast as my legs could carry me.
I made it to the woods, running and yelling.
Damn…
I have never felt better. This must be the reason why I have been moody all day. My wolf just wanted to have some fun. I thought about the party going on at my house, but shunned the thoughts.
They can go on and have fun without me. This is what my wolf wants. I brought myself to a stop and surrendered by a big tree. The squirrels and birds ran off seeing a wolf, but I only giggled at them.
Suddenly, the full moon shone over me, and I felt excitement shoot up in my bones. My blood boiled in my vein, and I felt a snap in my heart.
Strength, agility, and raw emotions welled up in me, and I felt so powerful. It felt as though I was munching on something very powerful.
My eyes became wet with tears, and my wolf panted hard in my head. I turned around and began to sniff the air, looking for a piece of me carried by someone else.
A stranger appeared in front of me, and I felt a sharp pull within my very core.
“Mate!” Those fragile words escaped my lips.
Elena’s POVThe moment Amelia raised her hand, I flinched—expecting the sting, expecting the blow. My hand instinctively flew up to shield my face. But before anything could happen, a sharp voice cut through the tension like a blade.“What the hell are you doing?!”Elizabeth stormed out of the restroom, eyes blazing, her fists clenched at her sides. She stepped between us without hesitation, shielding me with her entire body.“Don’t you ever touch her,” she snapped, glaring at Amelia with such fire I barely recognized her. “You hear me? I don’t care how scary you think you are—back the hell off.”Amelia blinked, slightly thrown off by the sudden interruption.“You’re a bully,” Elizabeth continued, her voice rising. “We all know that. But guess what? You don’t just go around bullying people for breathing near your so-called boyfriend. And speaking of Rick—maybe you should go home and train your dog, because if he weren’t busy sniffing around every girl in school, none of this would be
Elena’s POVThe next morning, I felt sick again. It had become a routine. The waves of nausea hit me harder than before, especially in the mornings. Elizabeth helped me dress quickly. I wore my uniform—pressed skirt, white shirt, and black shoes—topped with the oversized cardigan we agreed on. It still smelled like her lavender perfume.“You good?” Elizabeth asked, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear. Her eyes scanned my face, noticing how pale I looked.I nodded weakly, trying to smile. “As good as I can be.”She didn’t believe me. I saw it in her eyes. But she didn’t push. She just held my hand all the way to school.By the time we got to class, my stomach was already churning. I gripped the edge of the wall as we neared the door, trying to breathe through it.Elizabeth leaned close. “You want to sit for a while?”“No,” I whispered. “Let’s just go in.”As we reached the door, she excused herself. “Give me two minutes. I need the restroom—don’t move.”I nodded. She walked off.Th
Chapter 9Elena’s POVIt continues that way.I was still in shock as I walked into the house with Elizabeth. My knees felt weak, and my heart was racing so fast I thought it might burst out of my chest. I sat on the edge of the bed, my fingers trembling, my throat dry.Pregnant.For a man who didn’t even care. For a man who left me that same day.He took my innocence right in front of me and then… rejected me. Just like that. No remorse, no second thoughts. He tossed me aside like I was nothing. His own mate.He knew how much I had longed for this. For years, I’d prayed for the Moon Goddess to bless me with my mate. I’d dreamed of the bond, the connection, the love. And instead, I got pain.Right on the day of my birthday. The first gift I received was rejection. Unbearable, brutal rejection. And that was why I left. Not just temporarily—I left for good. I didn’t want to have anything to do with that guy ever again. I didn’t want any memory, any scent, any trace of him haunting me.Bu
Chapter 8Jaxon’s povJaxon hadn’t been himself since Elena left.He told himself he didn’t care—that she was just the daughter of an elder, that claiming her would be beneath him. But every time he closed his eyes, she was there. Her scent lingered in his sheets. Her laughter haunted his halls. His wolf growled with unrest, pacing inside him like a caged beast. He wanted her.Desperately.But wanting her and claiming her were two very different things. He was the Alpha. She was a nobody. His betrothal to Nikki, the daughter of a powerful Alpha from the next territory, was already sealed. There was no room in his world for someone like Elena. At least, that’s what he told himself.Yet the ache in his chest refused to leave. And when she was gone—when she left without even saying goodbye—it only got worse. He felt empty. Incomplete. Like part of his soul had been ripped away. That night, he confided in his best friend, Ryker.“Claim her,” Ryker said, simply. “Screw the politics. Screw
Chapter 7Elena tried to focus on the clothes in front of her—rows of folded jeans and plain t-shirts—but her mind was a storm she couldn’t calm. The mall wasn’t much, just a modest one on the edge of the city, but it was more than her family could usually afford. They were average people. Not poor, but not rich either. Just enough to get by, to keep food on the table, and send her to school.Lisa, her aunt, watched her closely as they browsed. “Elena,” she said quietly, her voice low but firm. “I know something’s wrong.”Elena looked away, pretending to examine a jacket.“You may have lied to your father, but you can’t lie to me,” Lisa pressed. “Give me anything, Elena. Anything and everything. What happened during your stay with the Alpha?”Elena’s breath hitched. She felt like the air had suddenly turned too heavy to breathe. “Nothing happened,” she said, forcing a shrug. “I just… I need to get away. I want to be alone.”Lisa didn’t buy it. She tried again and again to pull the tru
Chapter 6The pains was unbearable for me to handle and endure I felt like my whole world was crumbling I can’t believe that Alpha Jaxon did this to me but initially I expected this a long time ago from the start Blood dripping from my gown I didn’t want to go through the main entrance so I had to follow the back door my father and every other person should not know about this I said to myself Immediately I entered my room I headed straight to the bathroom and had a warm bath tears crawling down my face all through I was in pains I shouldn’t have believed him 15 minutes later I stepped out and wore my clothes when Lisa entered and she noticed my mood immediately “You look glumly and sad is there any problem? And besides when did you get home we came to your room last night but it was locked she said and I forced a smile“I came back late so I had to sleep what’s for breakfast? I’m starving, I said jokingly and she said spicy pasta and plantains! Your favorite I smiled at herI will
