Chapter 4 Let's divorce

When Alyssa regained consciousness, she found herself in an unfamiliar environment. She blinked, trying to adjust to the bright light in the room. As she looked around, she realized she was in a hospital.

"How did I get here? The last thing I remember is falling off my bike…" Panic set in as the memories flooded back.

She immediately touched her stomach.

"My baby!" she thought anxiously.

The door to the hospital room opened, and Lily walked in. "You're awake," she said with relief, though her voice was tinged with worry.

"How is my baby? Is it…?" Alyssa gestured frantically, unable to finish the question.

"Don’t worry… the baby is fine," Lily assured her, and Alyssa let out a long breath of relief. She didn’t know what she would do if she lost this child too.

"Why didn’t you tell me you were pregnant? Why did I only find out after you almost lost your life?" Lily asked, her voice filled with guilt.

"I just found out myself and was planning to tell you today," Alyssa signed, but she hadn’t expected to collapse so suddenly.

Thinking of Ezekiel’s humiliation, she lowered her head again.

"What happened? Why did you faint?" Lily asked, noticing her distress.

Alyssa finally sighed deeply and explained everything that had happened.

"What?? You let them treat you like that?!" Lily exclaimed angrily. "That bastard! I’ll kill him!"

Alyssa hung her head. It was her blind love that had led to her suffering, but she was finally seeing clearly now.

She grabbed Lily’s hand and signed, "Listen, Lily. I’ve decided to divorce him."

Lily was shocked by her decision. She knew how much Alyssa loved Ezekiel, and she understood that Alyssa must have been deeply hurt to reach this point. Tears welled up in Lily’s eyes as she hugged Alyssa tightly. "You’re doing the right thing, Alyssa. Now that you’re in the hospital, he can’t even be bothered to check on you. He doesn’t deserve to be a father," Lily said angrily.

Alyssa knew anyone could see that Ezekiel didn’t care about her. It was she who had clung to unrealistic hope.

Even though she was divorcing him, she wouldn’t give up her pup. She had already lost one.

Alyssa looked at Lily and signed firmly, "I’ll divorce him, but I won’t abort the baby."

"Alyssa… how do you plan to raise this child alone? Do you think he and his mistress will let you leave alive with his child?" Lily asked doubtfully.

"I don’t know," Alyssa bit her lip, then looked at Lily. "I need your help."

"So you’re finally ready to join my pack?" Lily asked, her face lighting up with surprise. She hugged Alyssa tightly again. "I support your decision. You’ll be a great mother. And my brother will be more than happy to welcome you."

When Ezekiel returned home, he was surprised to find the house exactly as he had left it that morning.

Alyssa always made sure everything was spotless, and dinner was always ready when he got home.

But today was different. There was no dinner, and the place was a mess.

He was furious. He remembered the look in Alyssa’s eyes when she left his office—the first time she had ever pushed him away. He couldn’t deny the panic he felt inside.

He had come home earlier than usual, but Alyssa was nowhere to be seen.

What was she trying to do?! Did she really think she had the right to defy him?

He immediately called Alyssa’s phone, but just then, Alyssa walked in from outside.

There were bandages on her face. What had happened to her?! She must have gotten hurt at that damn café of hers. She needed to quit that job.

No! He wouldn’t let her see that he cared! She was a snake, a venomous snake that had ruined his life! Her presence had kept him from being with Cindy! He had to make her understand her mistake.

"Alyssa! You’re late, and the house is a mess!" he shouted.

Alyssa stared at him quietly, not bothering to explain what had happened. It would only make him angrier.

"You!! You need to quit that awful job and cut ties with that so-called friend of yours!" he commanded in a domineering tone.

Alyssa didn’t respond. Instead, she handed Ezekiel a document. She took a deep breath and signed:

"Let’s end this marriage…"
