Chapter 6 Angel-like demon

The Next Day

"Lily… I don’t want to drag you into this. I’m planning to quit the café…" Alyssa arrived at the café early in the morning, having come straight from the packaging factory. She hadn’t forgotten Ezekiel’s threat against Lily.

Lily was momentarily stunned but quickly understood. Ezekiel must have threatened Alyssa.

"Alyssa, you don’t need to worry about me. My pack isn’t much weaker than the Moon Stone Keepers. Give me a week to handle things at the shop, and then we can leave," Lily reassured her with a gentle smile, patting her arm.

Alyssa was about to say more when a loud engine roar interrupted her. She looked outside to see a luxurious sports car pulling into the driveway.

Her heart sank. This car was a birthday gift Ezekiel had given to Cindy. Cindy always seized every opportunity to flaunt it, as if it were a symbol of her victory.

The car door opened, and Cindy stepped out. She was wearing a flashy short skirt and high heels, walking with a sway that made it seem like she was on a runway. Her presence made Alyssa feel nauseous.

"What is that bitch doing here?" Lily frowned, her voice filled with disgust.

Alyssa knew why Cindy was here—to humiliate her, as usual. But she had already filed for divorce. Hadn’t Ezekiel told her?

Regardless, Cindy was now a customer. Alyssa stood behind the counter, expressionless, waiting for her next move.

"Alyssa," Cindy approached the counter, her fake smile plastered across her face, her voice dripping with sweetness.

"What do you want?" Lily stood like a wall in front of Alyssa, her tone icy.

"Wow… wow… why so tense?" Cindy feigned surprise, laughing. "I’m just here to buy a coffee."

"Stop pretending. Are you here to hurt Alyssa again?" Lily asked impatiently.

"Relax, I’m just… buying a coffee," Cindy’s tone carried a hint of provocation.

"Really? That’s why you’re here?" Lily asked again, her voice full of suspicion.

"Why else would I be here?" Cindy retorted, a sly glint in her eyes.

Lily stared at her coldly, trying to see through her act, while Cindy maintained an innocent expression.

"What kind of coffee do you want?" Alyssa pushed Lily aside and asked calmly.

"I want a little sugar, no milk, and very hot," Cindy replied with a smile.

Alyssa frowned, not understanding why Cindy would order such a coffee. But she didn’t ask further, simply brewing the coffee as requested and placing it on a tray for her.

Suddenly, Cindy took a big sip and then dramatically spat it out.

Alyssa didn’t have time to react as the scalding coffee splashed onto her face and clothes. Cindy screamed, "What the hell!!"

Alyssa stood frozen, the burning pain on her face making it hard to think.

"Are you okay?" Lily immediately rushed over, using a tissue to wipe Alyssa’s face, her voice filled with concern.

Alyssa’s anger burned in her chest, but she forced herself to stay calm. She couldn’t let Cindy’s provocation endanger her unborn child or Lily.

"I’m sorry… I didn’t know you were there," Cindy said insincerely, a smug smile on her face.

"Really? You didn’t do that on purpose?" Lily asked coldly.

"It’s not my fault. I didn’t know she’d make the coffee so hot and bitter. If I hadn’t spat it out, my mouth would’ve been burned," Cindy said innocently.

"Isn’t that exactly how you ordered it?" Lily pressed, her voice rising with anger.

"Did I? When did I do that?" Cindy laughed, her eyes full of mockery.

"I guess your ears are broken because I would never order coffee like that," Cindy sneered.

"Lily, here’s some advice—you should stay away from her. She’s clearly a bad influence on you," Cindy said in a low voice, her tone dripping with disdain.

Alyssa clenched her fists, trying to calm herself. She kept telling herself that Cindy wasn’t worth her anger.

"Oh… for the terrible coffee, here’s your payment…" Cindy threw a stack of dollar bills onto the counter, her tone condescending.

"See you later," she said with a smirk, turning to leave.

As she turned, Lily suddenly rushed past Alyssa, grabbed the remaining coffee, and without hesitation, poured it onto Cindy’s back.

"Ahhh!!" Cindy screamed in pain, her skin turning red instantly.

"You damn bitch!!" she cursed, hopping in place, trying to alleviate the pain.

"Now you know how it feels!" Lily said coldly, her eyes filled with satisfaction.

"You!! You’ll pay for this!! I’ll make sure Ezekiel punishes you!!" Cindy shouted, her face twisted with pain and anger.

"Take your money. You clearly need it more than we do," Lily picked up the bills and threw them at Cindy.

Cindy couldn’t bear the pain any longer. With tears in her eyes, she ran out of the café.

After she left, Alyssa finally snapped out of her shock. She signed, "You’ll provoke Ezekiel!"

"Someone had to teach that bitch a lesson. I couldn’t stand the way she talked to you," Lily replied.

"But…"

"Alyssa, really, don’t worry about me. My pack isn’t weak. And it’s not like I’m losing anything by not doing business here," Lily interrupted, her tone firm.

Alyssa looked at her gratefully, but unease still filled her heart.

As she said goodbye to Lily, she noticed she hadn’t received a call from Ezekiel. Cindy wouldn’t have let this slide without telling him.

When she got home, Alyssa washed up and was about to go to bed when her phone rang. It was Lily.

"Alyssa… I’ve been caught," Lily’s voice came through the phone, trembling slightly.

Alyssa shot up from the bed, her heart racing. She was about to ask what happened when the line went dead—Lily’s phone had been turned off.

Alyssa’s hands trembled, her mind in chaos. She knew Ezekiel had started making his move.
