CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Amelia walked out of MZ global,joy clearly written in her expression.

She had been interviewed, and they said they would get back to her soon!

She smiled softly. Finally, i am getting a good paying job.

She had booked an Uber and was waiting for her ride..

Her phone alarm rang.

It was a reminder of the free antenatal, but she had made up her mind to not go back there,but she needed to see Grandma Pia.

She, too, missed the kind woman.

Fear washed down her spine, but she pushed it away,just 30 minutes, and i would leave.

She told herself as the Uber pulled over.

As she alighted in front of the hospital,her eyes scanned the surrounding carefully as she slowly began to walk in.

As she entered the elevator,she breathed in relief to see it was empty.

She silently prayed that grandma pia would be alone.

She walked into the vip reception,"Good afternoon, please. What's the room number of Grandma Pia?"

The nurse looked up from her paper,with a gaze as if Amelia was beneath her.

"And who are you!"

"I..she is aware I am here,I just want to see her."

The nurse scoffed, eyeing her carefully before bringing the wired telephone closer.

"Someone is here to see you ma,a lady -"

The nurse smiled, hanging up.

"Grandma pia say she does not want to see you!""what?are you sure? She asked me to come-"

"Please,kindly walk out,"the young nurse spoke,annoyance laced in her tone as Amelia stood wondering why Grandma did not want to see her.

Back in the ward,Grandma Pia sat with Roman Voss.

He and her were discussing and laughing at something when her phone rang.

As the nurse spoke,she only thought it was Carolina.

So she quickly said no one hung up without waiting to hear the visitor's name.

Roman's jaw tightened as he too thought it was Carolina.

What is she doing here after what happened yesterday!

"I wonder what you see in that wrench gold digging carolina." Grandma Pia spoke annoyance laced in her tone as she faced him.

Meanwhile,Amelia stood at the reception and brought out her phone to call Grandma Pia.

But before she could press dial,a loud voice stepped her.

"What are you doing here?!'' She turned around slowly to see Juliana walking closer with a woman by her side.

The woman looked like the older version of Juliana, and amelia quickly connected the dots.

"Juliana,I came to -" "Who is this?" Mrs, Vale asked confusion written in her facial expression.

"Oh mother,if it isn't the nonsense gir, who tried to kill Grandma!"

Mrs Voss's eyes slowly flashed with recognition, making her frown.

"What are you doing here!" Her voice,now louder and more colder than her daughter's.

Amelia stepped back as she made to talk.

"I only came to see Grandma pia,she-"

"So you can finish her off, right?"

"No,i swear. I did not do anything to her ma, " but before she could complete her sentence, Mrs Voss had given her a dirty slap.

"How dare you lie to my face! I know girls like you,always shagging rich men! My son has a fiancee,okay? Get out and never show your pathetic self here again!" She ranted.

Amelia stood shocked, her cheeks red from the slap. She held it slowly as she walked out.Humilation took over a space in her rib as she held her tummy,anger surged through her.

*I should not have come! What was i even thinking?!*

She wiped the single tears that fell down her cheek as she ordered a ride.

Back at the ward..

"So,the odctor says he would discharge you tomorrow,"

Grandma pia smiled softly,"Finally,I miss home."

He chuckled, caressing grandma's soft white hair as she looked outside.

"Why has Amelia not come to see me?" Grandma pia slowly asked,frowning at her Roman.

He hesitated before opening his mouth to speak, but the door burst open, and juliana walked in angrily, followed by Mrs Voss, who looked too calm for someone who had just insulted someone innocent.

"Why the angry face juli?" Grandma pia asked worriedly as juliana walked up to her with a basket of food.

"Its that stupid Amelia,she had the effontery to show her face here after all she did!"

"Amelia was here?" Roman asked confused.

''Yes,the bitch said she wanted to see Grandma but trust us,we sent her away!"

Roman rose up,anger laced in his tone as he spoke..

"you did what?!how dare you!"

"Was it amelia whom the nurse said wanted to see me.." Grandma slowly spoke,calmly but she looked annoyed too..

"I was only looking out for Grandma,beside mum was the one who slapped her,not me"

She blurted out as Roman's heated gaze fell on her.

"You did what! Did I not warn the two of you to stay away from Amelia!" He barked,clenching his fist as he glared at his mother who looked at him with no remorse.

"Calm down,Roman,don't raise your voice at your mother" Grandma pia spoke softly as she watched him boil in rage.

"She is just coming to shag you,I just had to tell her you had a fiancée " His mother spoke trying to defend herself when he shunned her.

"What!" He didn't like the fact that she now knew of Carolina,the thought did not sit well with him as he breathed deeply to control himself from doing anything rash.

"I swear if touch even a hair on her head ever again, you won't like what would happen!"

He stormed out, walking towards the elevator. He brought out his phone,dialing her number for the first time since he got the digits.

He stopped dead in track when he heard Amelia's voice over the phone,almost faint. Fear gripped him as he heard her shallow breath.

"Amelia,are you okay?!"he asked,urgency in his voice, but what he heard next made him take to his heels.

*"Please save me, my babies"*
