I am yours, don’t give myself back to me.

—Anaïs Nin.

LUCIEN

The look in her eyes gutted me. Fear. Not of the thing I’d torn apart. Not of the blood dripping from my claws. Fear of me.

I slashed yet another, sending it crashing into the wall. Before it could recover, I was on it,backhanding it so hard blood sprayed from its mouth. It hissed, tried to lunge, but I slammed it down again, claws pinning it to the floor.

My snarl ripped through the room as I dragged my hand across its face.

I didn’t kill it. Not yet. It had touched her, and for that, it would suffer first.

“You could have snapped its neck, you know,” Kainan said casually, crouching near the writhing vampire. He poked at it with the tip of his shoe like it was nothing more than a broken toy.

“But no, you like your little temper tantrums, don’t you?” He grinned, tilting his head too far to the side as if the suffering was some private joke only he got.

There is always some madness in love. But there is always some reason in madness.” — Friedrich Nietzsche CAMELLIA Sex toys and ice cream dripping on my nipples wasn't how I'd spend my typical wednesday. The vanilla ice cream slid over my breast, the chill sending a shiver through my spine, and I gasped when his fingers followed the slick trail, teasing me. “Do you feel that?” he murmured, hovering over me. His lips brushed against the shell of my ear as he pressed the tip of his tongue to my collarbone making my chest heave and nipples harden even more under the cold cream. He wasn’t gentle—not entirely. One hand pinched my nipple while the other traced circles around my soaking folds until I was already desperate to feel filled. I whimpered, arching into him, trying to chase the pleasure his hands promised. Then he brought out the first toy—a sleek, vibrating wand. He pressed it against my nipple. My hands clawed at his shoulders, but he held me down, thumbs brushing ove

Sex pretty much cures everything.— Chuck Palahniuk.CAMELLIA Lucien was walking on eggshells around me like I was a bomb ready to go off at any second. He tried to look calm, but the rapid tapping of his foot across from me gave him away.We weren’t in the pack house, but this mansion was just as expensive, dripping with chandeliers and walls lined with art that probably cost more than my entire existence.“Lucien.”His head snapped toward me instantly and before I could blink he was at my side.“Do you need anything? I—I’m sorry the couches aren’t more comfortable. They were custom made in Italy. Supposed to be goose-feather stuffed, but I think the geese were depressed or something.”I couldn’t help the quiet giggle that slipped out as I watched him. God, I’d missed him.“I just want you closer,” I whispered, the words spilling out before I could stop them. His lips parted, then hesitated as though the right response was lodged somewhere in his chest. He turned away slightly, bu

A tiger doesn't change its stripes, but a man can change his spots... if he tries.— C.S. Lewis.LUCIEN I wasn't distracted enough, I was losing my mind.I tapped my foot repeatedly, trying to focus on the werewolf talking about the possible location of the Raven Howl."Where’s Camellia?" I sent a mindlink to one of the warriors I stationed at her house."She left hours ago, sir. She hasn’t returned," came the reply."Did any of you follow her?" I asked.Selene’s hand rested on mine during the meeting, her touch burning, but I forced myself not to react.I’d managed to stay without contacting Camellia for at least a week, but today, I felt an unease I couldn't shake."One of the men did, but he hasn’t reported back yet.“"How long ago was this?" I asked, leaning forward, fingers drumming against the table."Seven hours ago." His voice trembled slightly in my head.Seven hours ago. Camellia left her house by eight, and it’s now five in the morning."Motherfucker," I murmured aloud, a

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.– Saint Bernard of Clairvaux.CAMELLIAA week without speaking to or being with Lucien felt surprisingly bearable with Grayson around. The arcade lights were dizzying, neon flashes bouncing off every surface.“Why does this thing keep jamming?” I muttered, squeezing the trigger so hard I thought it might snap.Beside me, Grayson barely even looked at his screen, firing clean shots like it was child’s play.“Because, Camellia, you’re aiming at the ceiling,” he said, his voice smug.“I am not!” My screen lit up with another big, bold Game Over, and I groaned, slamming the gun back into its holster. He laughed “Thirty seconds, that's a new record.“I shoved him with my shoulder. “It’s rigged. Obviously. This machine has it out for me.”“Uh-huh. Blame the machine.” He stepped behind me before I could move, his chest brushing my back as his hands slid over mine, adjusting my grip on the gun. “Here. Hold it like this.Loosen your wrist. You

I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship.— Louisa May Alcott.CAMELLIA Lucien didn't even bother to look me in the eye.Seeing my street come into view and my apartment after didn't make me feel as happy as I thought it would.“I have three people stationed outside the building. Please just let them do their work” He said, still looking straight ahead and not at me.The tension in the car could be cut with a knife.“Okay,” I said flatly. “Come on, Lilah.” I stretched out my hand for her to take.Inside, my chest burned. That’s it? … You’re really going to let me walk away like that?“Camellia.” His voice cut through the air, and I hated how quickly I turned.“Yes?”For a moment, it looked like he had a thousand things to say but then he swallowed them alldown.“Be careful.”Motherfucker.I walked slower than usual to my door, clinging to the stupid hope that he’d call me back—say he’d get rid of Selene and let me be the only woman in his life.I heard th

It is easier to fight for one's principles than to live up to them.— Alfred Adler.KYLE The second I shoved into him, I was gone. His ass gripped me like a vice, and I nearly lost it right there. Fuck, he felt unreal, milking me with every inch I gave him.I slammed forward again, harder, watching his body jolt under the force, and the sight made my cock throb inside him.“Goddess,” I snarled against his ear, my voice ragged. “You’re so fucking tight. Taking me like you were built for it.”He moaned, high and broken, and it only drove me crazier.I pinned his wrists above his head, grinding in deep until he cried out, then pulled almost all the way out before slamming back in.His legs shook around me, thighs wide, giving me everything and I only wanted more.“Beg,” I ordered, rutting into him fast, ruthless. “Beg me to split you open.““Please, Kyle—please, don’t stop—fuck, I need it—” His voice was desperate, wrecked, and it made me groan deep, hips snapping harder.“That’s it,”
