    Chapter Four: The Truce

Baron's POV:

On the day of the truce. I and my rogues got ready early in the morning. I had already contacted Elijah, the alpha of the Luna pack and told him about my plans. He agreed, then we set a meeting to discuss the terms of our truce. I dressed all my rogues in black suits as well as myself.

"Morning Baron" said Red as he stepped into my room while the door was open. "Morning Red. What do you want?" I replied. "Are you sure this truce is going to work?" Asked Red. "Of course it will. They don't want battles anymore. We are stronger and faster than them. They may have the numbers but we are more powerful" I replied. "What if they choose to ambush us?" Asked Red again.

"They wouldn't dare. Elijah might be stupid but he cares about his people. He doesn't want a bloodbath. The cost of defeating us would also take many of their lives" I replied. "Alright Baron" said Red as he began to step out of my room. When he was at the door, he paused, turned around and said; "You are a good leader Baron. Thank you" after which he stepped out.

I felt some power flow inside me and ego boost after hearing that. Shortly after that, I finished dressing up and stared into the mirror. I felt proud of the king I had become while raising my head up high and chest pumped up.

When I walked downstairs to the main lounge, I overheard one of my rogues, Tyler talking. I joined the conversation and he had some interesting things he wanted to specifically discuss with me. Other rogues in the lounge excused us as we discussed.

"I have had a good run with you Baron. It's been an amazing experience ever since you picked me up from the woods. Never thought I'd have a family. Anyways, Baron I wanted to ask you a question" said Tyler. "Go on" I replied. "We are rogues, but we've been together for years, growing together, being victorious. We have basically been like a family, a family of rogues. Isn't it safe to say that we are now a pack?" Asked Tyler, as he poured both of us a glass of wine each, and we sat down on one of the chairs.

"Tyler we are rogues. I haven't known what being in a pack felt like for the past eighteen years" I replied, after which I took a sip of my wine. I then proceeded to keep talking. "Tyler, the price of being a rogue is that you cannot have a pack. I truly agree that we have formed a family here, but we can't call ourselves a pack. A pack grow in strength when together. We rogues are individually strong with or without a pack. That is why they all feared us over the years. I used to think being a shapeshifter was a curse but it has been my biggest blessing. I don't need to be in a pack to be strong. We shapeshifters are wild and dangerous" I replied, whilst I beat my chest as I uttered the last words.

"Wow! Baron. You boost the confidence in us with your every word. I am tempted to call you alpha. However, Since you've said we can't be called a pack then we'll keep living this way, but just know I'm forever loyal to you" said Tyler as he shaked my hand.

"I appreciate your loyalty. Now, let us move. We have a truce to attend" I replied, as I stood up and gathered everyone else.

            Laura's POV:

"Hey! Wake up. Wake the fuck up!" Said Henry as he tapped me aggressively. I was still asleep under my shed. "My father is calling you" said Henry again as soon as I opened my eyes. He then left ignoring my greetings.

"Good morning sir" I said as I stepped into Mark's room. He then gave me an irritated look after which he got up from his bed and approached me. I was beginning to feel terrified that I had done something wrong.

He then said; "When my wife was alive, she used to wake up earlier than you, and you are a slave" after which he slapped me. "I am... I'm sorry sir" I replied as I stuttered my words. "Did my son wake you up" Asked Mark. "Yes he did" I replied. "Okay, now take your dirty self out of my sight. I want you to clean the main hall where we hold our meetings. The rogues are coming for a truce today" said Mark, after which I responded affirmatively to his order and began stepping out of his room.

"Wait!" Said Mark as soon as I was almost out of the room. "Aren't those your people?" Said Mark as he walked up to me in a taunting manner. "Uhhhm, I'm not sure if we're the same" I replied. "Those are shapeshifters, aren't they? They are also called rogues. If not for me, you would be out in the woods like them, without a pack" said Mark again as he began laughing at me. He then dismissed me after he was done taunting me.

While I cleaned the hall, I was humming my favourite song. It was a song about freedom. As I hummed, tears came down my eyes but I kept my determination and didn't stop cleaning. Hope was my only anchor.

"Why are you crying?" Said a voice to me as I cleaned the floor. It sounded like a boy's voice. I turned around and saw that it was Elijah's grandchild. He was about ten years old. "Wow! Little one. What are you doing here?" I replied. "Uhhhm, nothing. I'm just playing. You've not answered my question. Why are you crying?" Asked the boy. "Oh! Nothing" I replied, after which I chuckled a little. "You should not be here. Go back to your house. Don't let your parents look for you" I said again as I touched his shoulder.

The boy then gazed at me and said; "Don't cry again. You should be happy. Take this chocolate. Chocolate always makes me happy". He handed me a piece of chocolate candy he held in his hand. I was in awe at the boy's actions. Tears rolled down my eyes even more and I couldn't comport myself anymore. I began to weep. The boy instantly gave me a hug. I hugged him back. I felt warmth and love. That was the first time anyone had ever shown me any form of affection. I wept even more at the thought.

The boy helped me wipe my tears. I then sat on the floor as I discussed and laughed with him. "I see everyone in this pack don't love you. I asked my mum why and she said it's because you're a monster. You don't look like a monster to me" said the boy. "Thank you" I replied, as I felt a tingling sensation that seemed like happiness rush inside me. "What is your name?" I asked. "I am Billy, but my friends call me Bill. Will you be my friend?" Asked Billy. "Of course I will" I replied, as I chuckled a little.

While I and Billy were still chatting, we heard the loud sound of a bell. "What's that?" Asked Billy as he looked astonished. "Whoa! That's our bell. We always sound it anytime an opposing pack comes into our territory. You need to go now" I replied as I swiftly helped him leave the hall.

When I stepped outside the hall with Billy, I saw a group of men dressed elegantly in black suits along with many werewolves of the pack gathered around them. Our alpha, Elijah was greeting and welcoming them. I then proceeded to sneak away and run back to my shed. While I began moving, I sensed the presence someone. It was a different feeling. I had never felt that way my entire life. My heart then began to race in an unusual manner. I then turned around and immediately we locked gaze. A pleasant rush of joy and wholeheartedness then came over me. That was the first time I ever saw him, my soulmate.
