Chapter 1

Kai's POV 

The dull grey school building came into view as I drove closer. Today was going to be the longest day ever, I just had a feeling in my gut that what I was thinking was true. But at least I had one silver lining that went around my dark cloud. I would be able to see Bella. My best friend and all time crush from like grade 9. Back then ,she was just the shy little girl I met at the beach, where she was killing it in surfing. I mean here in Arizona we got the best waves. I climbed out of my Cadillac and walked up the stairs that led into the building. I was ready to face this day, and the best part was that we had chemistry first, and by we, I mean Bella and I. I walked towards my locker and leaned against it, hoping I would get a few minutes to chat to Bella before school starts. But I mean I'm like one of the first people to arrive to school, so I don't think I have to worry. I felt a soft hand slide down back, and immediately turned. My girlfriend's face stared up at me and a smile slowly spread over her mouth and she said cheery, “Morning Kai bear. I missed you so much.” I wanted to roll my eyes so bad, but I kept my cool, and she wrapped a small hand at the back of my neck and pulled my face down to hers, so that she could get better access to my mouth. I moulded my lips with hers. I wouldn't even be dating Amber if it weren't for my friends. We were all drunk and playing truth or dare and naturally I picked dare, and well they thought it would be a good idea for me to ask Amber out, so here we are. She really had a sweet side of her that she just kept for me and our friends, but she also has this super bitchy side to her that she keeps for all the other students of Damien High. She pulled away from me and I saw to figures making out across from the hall, out of the corner of my eye. It was Bella and Max. And I saw that Amber was staring at Max in awe. She didn't know that I knew that she was cheating one with Max. I wanted to tell Bella so many times, but I thought it would be better if she caught them herself red-handed. Even though Max was cheating with my girlfriend behind my back, I didn't really give a shit and when it came out, he would probably still be my best mate. Weird how we guys work.

I averted my eyes away from Amber and Max, and pulled my focus to Bella's moaning form in Max's arms. He has absolutely no idea what a lucky son of a bitch he really is. They pulled away from each other and Bella looked at me, raising her eyebrow up challenging and I felt the blush tinting my cheeks. I turned away from her, when the bell suddenly rang. I gave Amber the usual goodbye kiss, and looked at her petite body as she flounced into the other direction. I pulled my lockerdoor open and got my books out. Right I totally know what your thinking, "Whatttt? Mr. Popular getting out his workbooks? I thought you guys always skipped school and that tipe of thing." Well no, that's not what I do, I want a bright future for myself. As I walked towards my next class, I felt a arm slumping around my shoulders  and I looked down, only to see Bella's small body at my side. I scooped her up in my arms and gave her a tight hug, saying, “Hi, Bella Boo.” She blushed at the nickname I used for her and said,“Hey Kai bear, we haven't spoken all weekend, how was yours?” I sighed dramatically and said,“You know, nothing exciting happened, Amber is PMS'ing so she was a total bitch.” Bella brought her fists up playfully and said,“That's my best friend you're talking about mate.” She was playfully going to punch me on my shoulder but I was faster than her and hoisted her up over my shoulder. She squealed and screamed, laughing,“Kai put me down.” I did what she asked and laughed when she scoulded at me. She was so cute... We walked into class and just as I was about to start making conversation with her, Mr. Malay came into class and said, “Okay students, settle down so that we can start this lesson.” Everybody quieted down  and I looked in Bella's direction, where I noticed for the first time what she was wearing. Her hair was up in a messy bun, and in her wild hair, vintage sunglasses peeked out. She had a black tube top on, with black skinny jeans and black vans. Her beautiful butterfly tattoo gently stood out on her shoulder. I quickly looked away, afraid she might catch me looking at her and looked infront of me. This is going to be a very long first period.

When the bell finally rang, Bella and I walked out together, just to see Max wait outside for her. He pulled Bella closer to him, but that was all I saw, because I didn't have the strength to see them make out for the second time today. I walked over to Amber's class, and when I got there, she was already waiting for me outside. I quickly gave her a peck on the cheek and walked her to her next class. She kept talking on and on about nonsense, but I wasn't really paying attention and my thoughts kept wandering to Bella. I didn't understand how she could be friends with Amber, or how she could date Max. But I guess that's just a mystery she would know. Amber snapped her fingers infront of my face, and I jumped out of my train of thought. “Were you even listening to anything I was saying?” I felt blush tint my cheeks and answered truthfully, “No I wasn't listening, sorry.” She stomped her foot and swiftly walked away from me, nose in the air. I shrugged my shoulders and walked on to my next class. Today is going to be a tiring one.
