Luke’s POV

I sat on the bed after Emilio left the room. I wanted to agree with him, but the prospect of freedom has become far fetch. Agreeing with Emilio would not alleviate any uncertainty, but it will give me even an ounce of freedom. Not agreeing with Emilio would probably bring a lifetime of what-ifs. I let my body fall back onto the bed as I stare at the ceiling, contemplating whether to agree to escape with Emilio or not.

The door suddenly opened, making me shoot up from the bed. Valentino walked into the room and closed the door behind him. I scrambled on the bed until my back hit the headboard. Valentino cautiously approaches me as I look at him in fear. He took a seat on the bed, leaving space between us.

"I'm sorry you saw that. I shouldn't have acted on impulse." Valentino apologized.

I didn't respond as I kept my gaze on my lap. Valentino moved closer, making me push myself further into the headboard.

"You didn't give me a chance to confront her," I said in a low voice.
