Luke's POV

I woke up from my nap and found the side of my bed empty. I slowly sat up and almost threw myself off of the bed when I saw Valentino's dad sitting on a chair beside my bed.

"Good morning." He greeted.

"Uhm, good morning." I greeted back. "I, uh, I don't know how to address you."

"I never thought Valentino would find someone and I never thought he would turn out to be exactly like his mother." He said, ignoring my question.

"Why are you telling me this?" I asked him.

"His mother manipulated everything around her back then so that we would end up together. Killed any other woman or man who took an interest in me. Don't get me wrong, she's a sweet woman and I love her, but that only happened because she eliminated any competition." He continued.

"What... what am I supposed to get from this?" I asked again.

"You want to be free." He said before turning his head to look me in the eye.

"Y-, no. I'm safer here. Valentino will give me everything I need." I replied.
