Chapter 9

“V…Verona…” Siana whispered under her breath as she stared at the figure that stood outside her door. She finally saw that same bright smile again and it brought tears to her eyes immediately.

The smile reassured her they both still felt the same way, that they were still what they were 5 years also and Verona was still madly in love with Siana.

What was even happening? Why was Verona here? If she had come back, why didn’t she meet her in the library? Why was she hiding for so long? If they were done already, why had she come back now?

There were several unanswered questions in her mind. However, Siana chose to ignore them all and pulled the door wide open. With no other words, she jumped into Verona’s arms who was much taller than her.

Verona laughed as she caught her and hugged her back.

“Hi honey…” Verona whispered into her eyes as she squeezed her closer. She had a bright smile on her face as she held the love of her life close in her arms. “How you been, my love?”

All the answers she got was Siana sobbing bitterly as she finally held onto Verona tightly. She had grabbed onto her clothes tightly and refused to let go as though if her grip loosened, Verona would disappear again.

Verona lifted Siana in her arms and carried her inside the house. She sat down on the sofa and made Siana sit on her lap. Hugging her tightly, Verona caressed her back and hair in a rhythmic.

They just sat there silently holding onto each other as if their life depended on it. Their presence was enough to console and reassure them that everything was alright now. Still, Siana held tightly onto Verona’s clothes and tightened her grip when Verona tried to pull her away. At last, Verona gave up and hugged her tightly.

“I’m not going anywhere, honey…” She whispered lightly into Siana’s ear as she pulled her closer. “I’m so sorry I left you to deal with everything all by yourself. But I’m here now okay and I’m all yours now.” Her hands moved across her back in a rhythmic order as she tried to calm Siana whose back raised and dropped with equal intervals as she sobbed on her shoulder.

Her words were followed by silence. That room was filled with no sound but Siana’s muffled sobs which did start to get fainter after some time. Occasionally Verona shushed her if she began crying more.

Kai watched them from a distance, still confused about what was happening and who this person was. He didn’t dare get too close cause he didn’t trust Verona. He had gone through all of Siana’s memories and still, he didn’t find any of Verona. He was observing closer to see her aura or sense if there were any negative feelings around her.

However, all his efforts went in vain cause even after using up most of his powers he was unable to sense anything from her. That was just making him more and more suspicious of her cause he knew nothing and couldn’t even tell if she was good or not.

From their talks, it seemed like they had met after a long time and it got him wondering why she had left to begin with. Why was Siana acting so scared and didn’t want to let her go? Why was Verona acting so normal around her as if they had last met just some time back?

“Have you calmed down now love?” Verona asked as she wiped away the tears from Siana’s face.

Siana nodded slowly as she sniffled and wiped away her nose with the long sleeves of her hoodie. Her eyes were red and puffy from crying so much. Her cheeks and nose had also gotten pinkish and swollen from rubbing so much.

“Good.” Verona patted her head as she smiled at her. Siana stayed silent for a second and just stared at her. Verona caressed her cheek as she looked at her in confusion, waiting for her to say something. But what she did next confused her even more.

The blank expressions on Siana’s face changed into anger in no time and she slapped Veroan’s shoulder who just stared at her in even more confusion but Siana didn’t say anything and kept hitting her. After a few hits when Siana didn’t listen to her, Verona grabbed her hands and forced her to stop.

“What happened honey? At least tell me why you’re hitting me?” Verona said as she finally looked her in the face after squirming around to avoid getting hit. To her surprise, Siana was once again in tears and has a painful expression on her face as she bit her lip to stop her tears from escaping her eyes.

“Why did you leave me?!” Siana burst out as she pulled her hands away and once again hit Verona. “I was so sad this whole time but you didn’t even care to call me once!” Her voice started to faint as she cried harder but still kept hitting Verona; each hit got weaker as she cried.

“I am really sorry that I did that to you love…” Verona said as she hugged Siana in order to make her stop and calm her down.

Within a second, Siana burst out in tears as she couldn’t hold them back anymore. She held onto Verona as she sobbed harder.

“I was so worried for you!” Siana cried out. “You didn’t even bother telling me if we’re done…if I should wait for you…where I should look for you and what I should do after you left…”

Verona sighed and hugged Siana tighter. “I’m so sorry you had to go through all that honey…” She kept apologizing multiple times but she knew that it wasn’t going to take away the pain that Siana had suffered all these years.

“I still love you a lot and I still want to be with you. Unless you’ve found someone else obviously…” Verona looked at her with a sad expression as she waited for the love of her life to tell her if she had started loving someone else.

Siana shook her head in denial. “I waited for you…I just couldn’t stop thinking of you or forget you…” Siana was stopped by something soft pressing against her lips. She looked up and was surprised to see that it was Verona’s lips. She smiled faintly and closed her eyes as she kissed her back.

“I love you…” Verona said as she pulled her lips away from her for a second before kissing her again…deeper this time as she wrapped her arms around her waist and pulled her closer.

Siana put her arms around her neck and kissed her deeper. The vibes around her changed within a second as she was finally in the arms of the girl she had loved for the longest time and had waiting for since middle school.

They stayed there on the sofa for a long time just cuddling and talking about what they had been up to since the time they had not met each other.

“Why did you even leave me…?” Siana asked all of a sudden as she sat up and looked Verona in the eyes. The calm expression on her face changed as soon as she heard that question she sat there for a few minutes saying nothing at all.

“Verona?” Siana asked as she shook her arm lightly trying to snap her out of her thoughts.

“Uh…yeah…” Verona started to stutter her words as she started talking. “Um…I can’t really tell you anything…I’ll tell you when the right time comes…”

Her response left Siana confused and conflicted. It raised suspicion in her mind. What was it that stopped Verona from telling her the truth? Why did she disappear for these 5 years and what had happened to her during this time?

Several questions filled Siana’s mind but she chose to ignore them all because she didn’t want to make Verona leave as soon as she had come back.

“Hm…alright then…” Siana said in a low voice as she tried to hide her emotions from her. Verona smiled back as she kissed her forehead and closed that topic completely.

“Let’s see who can protect you now princess…I’m going to ruin all your relations with these people so you’d have no one to rely one but me…” And once again those green eyes glowed in the dark.
