Chapter 3

Atasha's POV

I spent my whole day inside Conrad's room watching the sun goes down.

I am tired of thinking of ways to escape this place because I know he will end up finding me.

I let out a deep breath when I heard knocks on the door after a while the door swung open and it revealed Veronica wearing a red long gown with a plunging neckline.

"I will help you get ready," she uttered then smiled at me.

"Do I have to attend that party?" I asked while she is busy hanging a long blue gown.

Veronica looked at me and then nod her head.

"Tonight Conrad will introduce you as his fiance so you have to be there Atasha," she responded then walked towards me.

She held my shoulder and then made me face her.

"You have beautiful features, soft makeup will do," she says.

I watched her as she pick up her make-up kit and stand in front of me once again.

Veronica started applying foundation on my face and I just let her do whatever she wants since I am too tired to argue with her.

After spending half an hour on my face she clapped her hands then picked up the mirror placed on the bedside table and showed it to me.

"What do you think?" she asked eager to know my opinion while I am looking at my reflection.

I must admit Veronica did a good job of highlighting my features.

"It's fine," I responded and when she heard how bland my response is, she rolled her eyes.

"You have your way of annoying people," she uttered then walked towards the dress and handed it to me.

"You should hurry up, Conrad hates waiting," I take the dress from her hold.

"Can you turn around please?" I asked.

Veronica let out a deep breath and then turned around but I heard her murmur something.

"As if there is something to see," she whispered but I didn't bother to respond.

I removed my clothes and then wear the long blue gown. Unlike Veronica, it's a turtle gown but the back is open and it has a slit on the side that shows my right leg.

"Isn't this way too revealing?" I asked while trying to hold the slit.

Veronica looked at me and then scanned me from head to toe.

"It looks great on you and besides you have no choice, so stop complaining," she uttered then stepped out of the room.

I let out a few deep breaths to calm myself. I stared at my reflection and then smiled at myself. The gown hugs my curves perfectly and it looks good on me but I am not used o to wearing this kind of clothes but I guess I have to deal with this.

When I calm myself down I stepped out of the room and headed towards the living room where Conrad is waiting.

Conrad stood up when he saw me then just like Veronica did he looked at me from head to toe.

"I did a good job right Conrad?" Veronica asked. Conrad throw a glance at Veronica and then brought his gaze back to me.

"Yeah, I think," he responded unsure of his answer.

I rolled my eyes because he sounds so arrogant. I badly want to criticize the way he looks but I can't because...shit, I shouldn't say this but he looks perfect wearing that black tuxedo, especially with that perfectly brushed hair. He looks like a high-paid model.

"Done admiring my looks?" he asked with a smirk on his face. I immediately looked away and pretended like I didn't praise him inside my head.

"I am doing the opposite Mr Sawyer," I uttered then walked towards the door and stepped out of his unit.

I walked down the hallway but before I could even get away I felt someone holding my hand and upon lifting my head I saw Conrad.

"You have to play your part and act like you are in love with me," he uttered then looked at me intently so I have no choice but to nod my head.

When we stepped outside his building a luxury car is waiting for us.

A man wearing a black formal suit opened the door on the backseat so I stepped inside and Conrad occupied the space beside me.

After a while, Veronica get inside as well and occupied the front seat.

I saw Veronica looking at us in the rearview mirror and when our eyes met she smiled but I know that it was forced so I didn't bother to smile back.

"Just stay beside me. You don't have to answer their questions I will do the talking," Conrad told me when the car started moving. I simply nod my head and remained quiet.

After a few minutes, Veronica spoke.

"Sebastian is coming, Conrad," she spoke and I have no idea who is Sebastian so I didn't bother to interfere in their conversation.

"Who invited that man?" he asked and his voice sounds so cold as if that man named Sebastian have done something bad to him.

"You know Sebastian he likes pissing you off, maybe he heard that you are coming so he decided to attend as well," Veronica responded.

I am so eager to ask who is Sebastian but I decided to shut my mouth.

When we arrived at the venue of the party Conrad stepped out of the car and then assisted me in getting off.

When I am out of the car flashes of cameras welcomed me. The lights are blinding me so I covered my eyes with my handbag.

"You didn't inform me about this," I whispered to Conrad talking about the media.

"Did you ask?" he sarcastically responded that pisses me off but I decided to act all fine.

When I regain my composure I fixed my posture, removed the bag from my face then faced the media with a smile plastered on my face.

"Your date looks gorgeous Mr Sawyer care to introduce her?" one of the reporters asked.

Conrad looked at the reporter then held my waist and pulled me closer to his body. My eyes widened when he did that but I managed to flash a fake smile.

"This is my fiancé, Atasha Quinn," Conrad responded with a smile on his face and I must commend him for being a good actor.

I heard gasps from the crowd and some murmurs but I ignored them and chose to smile as long as my lips can handle them.

The reporter looked at me and then placed the microphone that she was holding in front of me.

"You must be a daughter of a well-known family to be engaged by the great Conrad Sawyer?" she asked with a smile on her face. I threw a glance at Conrad and then back at the reporter.

I smiled and then shook my head.

"I'm a doctor not just a daughter of a well-known family," I proudly responded then smiled at her one last time before stepping inside the place.

I roamed my eyes around and I think I am in the wrong place. This place is too expensive and grandiose for me.

"Is this Thomas Quinn's daughter?" a man probably the same age as my father asked.

No matter how hard I try to deny the fact these people always remind me that the father that I grew up with made me live in lies.

"This is Atasha Quinn, my fiancé," Conrad uttered.

The man looked at me intently and then smiled.

"You look exactly like your mother. I hope you won't have the same fate," the man uttered which made my forehead crease.

What does he mean by that?
