Chapter 4

Conrad's POV

I saw Atasha's eyebrows furrowed when her mother was mentioned.

"Do you know my mother?" she asked with confusion written on her face.

Mr Lim smiled and then nod his head.

"Of course who wouldn't know her when your father sacrifice everything just to be with that woman," Mr Lim responded followed by a chuckle.

I can tell that Atasha wants to ask more questions but she chose not to, instead, she let out a deep breath and then smiled at Mr Lim.

"I guess my father loves my mother so much that's why" she responded.

"That's why he sold you off just to be with your Mom," Mr Lim added. I felt Atasha's fist tightly clenched so I held it firmly giving her a signal to calm herself.

Atasha looks at me and then let out a deep breath before facing Mr Lim once again.

"I'll just use the restroom," she uttered excusing herself.

When Atasha is gone I faced Mr Lim.

"What happened to her mother?" I asked but Mr Lim shook his head.

"She died," he responded like it was nothing.

"How did Leonor Quinn die?" I asked curious to hear what happened to Atasha's mother.

"Just leave the past behind Conrad," he simply responded then tapped my shoulder and leave me unanswered.

Rather than wasting my time stressing about what happened to Atasha's mother, I decided to socialize and chat with other guests.

"I heard that you are planning to expand your business in Asia Conrad," Johannes, a good friend of mine uttered. I nod my head and then drink my shot.

"I want to establish a connection in Asia so the transaction will be smoothly done in that area," I uttered then smiled at him.

I am busy talking with my colleagues when I remembered that Atasha isn't back yet so I decided to excuse myself and looked for her.

I first saw Veronica so I decided to approach her.

"Have you seen Atasha?" I asked. Veronica looked at me with a creased forehead then shook her head.

"Why?" she asked.

"Nothing," I responded then roamed the whole place until my feet brought me to a garden and there I saw Atasha laughing with a familiar man. Upon taking a few steps closer I saw Sebastian.

"I didn't know that you are good at socializing Atasha," I spoke and when they heard my voice they turned their head and looked at me.

Atasha immediately stood up and Sebastian did the same thing. He even extended his hand but I ignored it.

"You didn't change at all Conrad, you are still rude," he commented but I didn't care.

I held Atasha's arm and pulled her closer to me.

"They are looking for you," I told her but she just laugh at me.

"Those people didn't even know me. All they know is I am Thomas Quinn's daughter nothing more. They don't know Atasha Quinn," she responded and I can tell by the way she speaks that she is drunk.

I clenched my jaw and then let out a deep breath to calm myself.

"Fix yourself before we stepped inside," I told her but she firmly shook her head.

"I am staying here with Sebastian," she uttered then removed my hold.

"You are coming with me," I uttered and held her again but Sebastian did the same thing.

"She said she wants to stay here Conrad," Sebastian butted in and I have no patience to deal with him so I pulled out the gun on my back and he did the same thing.

We were looking into each other's eyes intently while guns are pointed at our heads.

"Let her go," I commanded but he just smirked at me and then shook his head.

"I don't want to," he responded. I am ready to pull the trigger when Atasha stepped in and placed herself in the middle.

"Why are you people so aggressive? Can't I spend one peaceful day without blood or guns?" she asked while looking at us.

I put my gun down and Sebastian did the same thing. I hid it behind my back once again then looked at Atasha.

"Let's go inside," I uttered firmly. I saw how her jaw clenched but after a while, she nod her head.

When we stepped inside the hall socializing with everyone starts again. I kept on introducing Atasha as my fiancé but she didn't even bother to say any words and I am fine with that rather than hearing her talking nonsense.

At exactly ten in the evening, we decided to leave the event but before we could even reach the parking lot Sebastian called us.

"You forgot this," he uttered then handed Atasha's handbag.

I watched his movement intently and when our eyes met he smiled at me.

"Relax, you look threatened," he uttered but I shook my head and my lips rose for a smirk.

"I just don't like others touching what's mine," I responded.

"Is she yours Conrad?" he asked while looking directly into my eyes and it lasts for a few seconds before he broke off the stares and tapped my shoulder.

"It's nice to see you again," he uttered then looked at Atasha.

"It's nice talking to you Atasha too bad your fiancé caught us," he uttered then let out a short laugh. I saw how Atasha smiled at him so I blocked her vision and then open the door on the backseat.

"Get in," I commanded. Atasha rolled her eyes at me but before she stepped inside the car I saw how her hand waved at Sebastian.

The moment she got in I sat beside her and closed the door.

"Let's go," I commanded.

"How about Veronica?" Atasha asked when we are inside the car.

"She's fine. She can go home on her own," I simply responded then leaned my back on the seat.

During the whole drive, none of us speaks because aside from the fact that we hate each other we don't have something in common that we can discuss.

When we arrived I stepped out of the car and walked inside the condominium building without waiting for her.

I walked towards my unit and punch the code.

I felt tired so I headed towards my room and lie on the bed. After a few seconds, I heard the door swing open and when vanilla scent filled the room I can already tell that its Atasha.

Atasha sat on the bed and upon looking in her direction I saw her removing the heels after a while she start massaging her feet.

"Dad told me that Mom died because of illness, should I believe him?" she asked while looking at me intently.

"Why are you asking me that question?" I asked raising my eyebrows.

"You seem like the type who always says the truth," she uttered which made me smile sarcastically.

"Or maybe I am just good at lying," I responded then get off of the bed and loosened my tie.

"If you want to survive in this world never believe things that you haven't seen. Find the truth on your own," I uttered while looking at her intently.

"My father won't lie to me," she firmly uttered.

"Then why are you here?" I asked and she was taken aback by my question.

I smiled at Atasha then held her chin and made her look directly into my eyes.

"If you want to know the truth then you must accept where you came from," I uttered without breaking off our gaze.

"Are ready to accept this world Atasha? Are you ready to accept that you are a Mafia?"
