CHAPTER 1

“Nova wake up” is the first thing I hear my step mom yelled at me every morning at 4 am. “Get up ungrateful bitch before I drag you out by your hair“ I hate the sound of her voice, but I get up anyway I do not want to get beaten to a pulp this early. “ I’m up but I can’t get out of bed until you move” is the first thing I tell her.

“Don’t sass me whore get dressed. You need to make breakfast for the twins , don’t mess it up this time.”

“Yes ma’am”

And with that she is out of the room and I’m out of bed. I guess one good thing about this situation is that my room is an actual room. My dad is the beta of our pack the silver crescent pack. While not big we have over 200 contracts with business in both the human territory’s, and Lycan territory just north of the border. I get dressed quickly in my leather pants combat boots and dark olive green T-shirt. I don’t give a shit how my hair looks most days, it’s too much of a hassle when my hair goes down my back . So I opt for my usual messy bun before i notice my roots are coming in. “Great Kristy is going to have my ass.” I mutter as I walk down the stairs to the kitchen.

This early in the morning no one else is awake besides me and Kristy, my dad is probably already gone to meet up with our alpha and Luna. I start coffee in the coffee pot before grabbing the eggs, sausage, biscuits and pancake mix from the pantry and refrigerator. It’s about 5:30 when I start setting the table and hear, “AHHHHHHHHHH ITS A BUG” my 12 year old sister Kelly screams while running down the stairs getting chased by Corbin her twin. I ignore their antics but it’s hard to when I’m also trying not to spill my step mothers cappachino while walking to set it in front of her “Nova do you think this bug is cool” Corbin asks me as I’m walking past him.

“Corbin get that bug out of my house” Kristy tells him before I can even answer.

“Yes mom” is his only answer as he sulks with his brown hair falling in front of his eyes, probably hiding the fact he’s already on the verge of tears.

“Kelly get to the table and sit while we wait on your brother to get back”

Kristy isn’t as bad with the twins as she is me but she still isn’t exactly what you would call motherly. As Kelly sits down and bows her head waiting to get the green light to eat I give her a reassuring smile as I walk back into the kitchen. Kristy is my dad’s third wife and is currently pregnant with her first kid. She has been married to my dad for the past 10 years, my mom died when I was born and the twins mom packed up and left them here at a year.

“Nova what the hell did you make me “ I hear Kristy yell from the dining room so I walk back into there to smooth this over before the kids see her completely wolf out.

“It’s a cappuccino dad said that you were craving them yesterday” I answer her as kind toned as I can

“ That was yesterday, today I want hot tea with honey and the things you made for the alpha dinner last week”

“I’m sorry I didn’t know and I know how you hate waiting cause the pup gets so restless it makes you sick”

“Can you just stop thinking and just make what I want” she sneers at me while Kelly and Corbin look at me with wide eyes.

“Of course give me 10 minutes and I’ll have it in front of you” I say as I turn to go back to the kitchen.

Shes a pain in my ass but I don’t care if it means a healthy pup. She is only 20 weeks along and has another 10 weeks to go according to the doctor.

As I am finishing up what she asked for I look at the time and tell the twins to get ready for school.

“Is there anything else you need before me and the twins leave “ I ask Kristy

“ Dye your hair back brown before I have to look at you again it’s an unusual and ugly color for a wolf”

I roll my eyes “Of course” is all I say as I grab my car keys and walk out the door
