MasukCarter’s POV
The noise in the club is very welcome. I can’t afford the thoughts of a certain someone that fills my head when there’s silence. I twirl the glass in the mind while I scout the crowd. I catch sight of Dom blatantly flirting with a guy in the presence of his fuming partner. Yeah my second in command is bi. But Dom built his reputation well so his coming out was met with little criticism that died down just as quickly as it appeared . Plus I’d kill everyone off before they would dare disrespect him. He looks up at me and i gesture for him to come up. He leans in and whispers something to the very obviously flustered guy and he nods eagerly. As Dom leaves, the guy turns to face his partner who starts laying into him but it looks like Dom’s interest is too intoxicating for him to care and his partner storms out. I sigh and shake my head. We just opened shop and we’re already losing customers. “This better be important or you’re sucking my dick tonight.” “Gladly. If you’re willing to lose your dick.” I retort. He grimaces. “A joke dude. Learn to distinguish jokes from threats.” I ignore him when I catch sight of someone in the crowd. I can’t believe my eyes. It’s actually her. My eyes narrow. She’s not alone. Who’s the bastard with his arm around her? Dom notices my visible change in demeanor and looks at the crowd too. “See something you fancy?” “Ooh she is pretty and she’s with someone just as pretty too.” I look at him slightly hopeful. “He’s gay?” “ I should hope so. He looks too dressed up for a straight guy.” I look back at my obsession and I notice that he really does look …not straight. “Go down there and find out.” “What? Really!?” He looks almost creepy with that gleeful look. I roll my eyes. “I knew you wouldn’t actually cock block me.” He wipes imaginary tears. “Who’s she though? She looks crazy familiar but I just can’t place it.” I have a painted portrait of her in my room. It only seemed fair. I hope Dom doesn’t catch up to it. “Just go.” I grit out when I see them dancing too fucking close to each other. “Woah.. down man. What if they are together?” I’ll kill him. Dom seems to hear the words I don’t say and he grasps how serious I am. He leaves without another word. I return my gaze back to the dancing duo and I watch as Don approaches and engages in conversation with the bastard. I calm down only when I see Dom place his hand on the guy’s ass. Dom isn’t usually that upfront but I know with the glance he threw my way that it was for my benefit. I nod at him and he continues dancing with the clearly interested and very gay guy. I look towards her instead. She looks incredibly stunning in that dress and her hair is down. I flash back to earlier tonight when she was in my office. She looked sinfully tempting and if she hadn’t broken the moment, I would have lost myself in her and done things that i shouldn’t even be thinking. She’s at the bar and I signal to one of my henchmen. “Tell the bar to serve free drinks to her.” I look at the drink in her hand. It’s soda. I almost laugh. Fuck it, I’m going to her. I make my way towards her before I can think twice about it. When I get to the bar, she’s nowhere to be found. I scanned the crowd, looking for her. I see Dom and the guy who I’m guessing is her friend but no sight of her. I look around some more and then I see her being huddled in a corner. Some bastard is clearly making her uncomfortable. “If the lady doesn’t care for your company, get lost.” I say, as intimidating as I can without scaring her. The bastard is drunk and staggers trying to turn around. “And who the hell — “ He freezes upon seeing my face. I recognize him as one of the new boys that got recruited to keep watch over the club. I peer down at him in disgust. “Boss? It’s not what it looks like.” “Boss…?” I look at the seductress that I forgot was there. I mentally face palm at the slip up. “Just get out of here.” I all but bark at the guy. I’ll deal with him later. She doesn’t need to know how insane I am. If this infatuation doesn’t clear up, then she’ll get to see just how dangerous I am and then she wouldn’t be able to escape me at all. “Sir…” That damn word is going to be the death of me. “I thought you could use the help.” She blinks. “I didn’t know you go clubbing too.” I smirk as I look down at her and inch in just a bit more. “Why not? You think I’m too much of a prick to enjoy being around drunk idiots in a confined space?” “I was… I just… observation.. like you always seem so put together, I guess I just thought you’d be more of a ball or a gala person.” “Do I seem put together now?” I was so close. I took the sight of her in, slowly. I could see her eyes so clearly. Gorgeous brown orbs darting around frantically under my perusal. Even in this sweat filled room, I could still smell her. Faint hints of vanilla just gently hitting me in the face. I continue my tour of her face. She doesn’t have freckles or beauty marks and yet she is so intoxicating to look at. “Mmm —“ I hear a gasp. Did she just …moan? I summon restraint from the deepest part of my soul and I step away from her. She looks out of breath and deliciously red. “If you can’t handle attention, you shouldn’t be out dressed for it.” What in the world was that?! She looks angry. “I’m allowed to wear clothes that I want to wear.” I open my mouth to talk, “And thank you for helping me but I can take care of myself.” Then I watch her walk off. Great. I go after her and catch her just a few feet away from me with her -yet to be confirmed- friend and Dom. “It’s him again.” Her friend says. And I remember that he was with her then too, at the grocery store. I give Dom a slightly irritated look. He had one job and he was doing a terrible job. “Let’s go Ev.” “What? Why?” Yeah, why? “Did he do anything stupid?” He asks while eyeing me and I almost punch him right there but I don’t. “No, I’d just like to leave now.” Her friend keeps eyeing me like I’m some sort of predator, which I am, but I’m not going to stand here and watch him do it. I inch forward and Dom pulls him back a bit and stands in front of him. “Woah oh oh, let’s all calm down. We’re at a club not court, what’s with all this tension.” I roll my eyes and try to calm down. “Hi, I’m Dom. Don’t believe we’ve met, I’ve been too captivated by your friend here to notice you.” He says while looking seductively at the stupid boy who was all shades of red now. I grimace but I don’t miss the subtle question he’s asking. I look at her to confirm that he really is just a friend. She doesn’t seem disturbed. Good. He is still an idiot though. “Oh, I’m Isla. And I’m sorry if I seemed rude interrupting you guys like that. Ev I’ll just wait at the bar for you.” And just like that she turns to leave, just disregarding that I was even there. I hiss and turn to follow her when a hand grabs me. It’s the merda. “I know you’re hot and all, and I also know you’re her lecturer so if you hurt her or try to take advantage of her, I’ll have you fired before I ruin you, got that?” He’s trying to look fierce and I would probably have found it amusing if I wasn’t so irritated that my pursuit was delayed. I look at Dom and he just nods for me to leave so I just turn around and follow in the direction that she went. “Hey this asshole can be broody and stupid as fuck but…” I can’t hear the rest of what Dom was saying but I heard enough to lay out on him at our next sparring session. I tuck that thought away as I approach the bar. She’s not at the bar.Carter’s POV The noise in the club is very welcome. Isla’s POV “Should I just skip school today..?” It's Friday. I sigh as I look at my class schedule again and the words, PROFESSOR WINSTON: ART HISTORY, stare back at me, I groan. After the embarrassing incident with my history arts teacher, who I have the hots for, the universe must definitely be against me, I just had to have history arts the very next day. “Girl come on, it’s not like he’s going to hate you. It was a mistake and he made that little comment too. Again, so hot!” I roll my eyes at the last statement. “You didn’t see him. He was staring at me like he could see my soul..” I go back to that night- the look he gave me seemed so much like… I can’t even think of a way to describe it and then the look of amusement when he saw that I noticed. I shiver involuntarily as I clear my thoughts. “Come on, I’ll drop you off, I don’t have classes today.” I sigh as I let Evan drag me out to his car. ----- He didn’t acknowledge me. He has been teaching for a little
Isla’s POV The hiss of the espresso machine was the soundtrack of my college life. Not glamorous, not exciting - just steady. Safe. My part time job at the coffee shop wasn’t much but it paid for books and rent, and for a few hours a day, I could feel normal. “Double latte for Sam,” I called out, sliding the cup across the counter with my best customer service smile, as “Sam” walks…or waddles over looking like he really could use the shot of caffeine. “Of course, he wouldn’t leave a tip.” I stifle a giggle as I watch Sam try to walk straight out of the shop. “Come in here smelling like booze.. the nerve” I turn around with a humorous look on my face to see my best friend and coworker sneering at poor Sam with a look of what one would think is disgust but is really just jealousy. Evan hasn’t been able to party for a few weeks now trying to meet a deadline for a school project so he has been pretty miserable and projecting on other people. “what are you doing out here?
