Chapter 5

CHAPTER 5

The room immediately fell silent and my classmates quickly returned to their seats as soon as we saw Prof Buenaventura enter the room. I also sat up straight as soon as I saw her.

"Good morning class," Prof Buenaventura said with her strict voice as she placed her belongings on the desk.

"Good morning, Prof," we greeted her back.

Prof raised an eyebrow as she scanned the entire classroom, and eventually, her gaze landed on us, her students. It seemed like she was scrutinizing each one of us, and when her eyes caught sight of me, she immediately called out my name.

"Miss Marra."

I flinched, "Yes, Prof?"

"Clean the mess on the board," she ordered, which relieved me a bit. I thought I did something wrong again because she called my name using her so-called strict voice. That's just how she is, especially when she's angry. She tends to intimidate people, especially when she's upset.

I nodded in agreement to her command, indicating that I would do as she instructed. Well, I really didn't have a choice from the beginning since I'm just her student assistant. As a student assistant like me, there's nothing else I can do but follow our teacher's orders.

To be honest, I agree with what Ma'am said about being a student assistant, especially when you're a working student like me. It's difficult because you have to follow every instruction given to you by the teacher you're assigned to assist. Because you're just a student assistant and they're the teacher, if you disobey their orders, it's not impossible for them to report you to the dean and your scholarship, which you've worked hard to maintain, might be taken away. That's why you really have to follow their orders because if not, bye bye scholarship.

"I stood up from my seat and went towards the board to erase the things written on it. When I got there, I immediately asked the teacher for the eraser, which she quickly gave me. I didn't waste any time, I turned around and started erasing what was written on the board.

"I know that you already know about my resignation, especially since there are many gossips around here," I heard our professor say with a smile. I'm sure Candice felt caught when she heard that, especially since she's the biggest gossip here in the room. I wonder what her reaction was. It must have been epic.

"I also know that many of you are already talking about it, some of you may be sad because your so-called terror teacher is resigning. But the hell I fucking care, talk if you want to talk and cry if you want to cry. All I care about is that you answer the test we have today properly, because if you don't..." she paused.

"If you don't, I won't hesitate to fail you this semester."

I couldn't help but shake my head when I heard my classmates whispering after hearing what the professor said. They seemed scared. They're such cowards. Even though I'm a scholar and have a grade to maintain, I'm not scared. How come they are?

After I finished erasing what was on the board, I turned to face my classmates and couldn't help but smile when I saw their reactions. It was epic. But what was even funnier was Candice's epic reaction. That girl is crazy. I don't know if her reaction was out of fear or if she did it on purpose to make us laugh.

I approached the professor to give her the eraser, which she quickly accepted, but what surprised me was that she also gave me the test papers. I gave her a questioning look, wondering what I should do with them.

"Distribute it," she said. It seemed like she understood what I was thinking because of what she said earlier.

I nodded in agreement with what she said, because as I mentioned earlier, I don't have the right to say no.

I immediately distributed the test papers to my classmates one by one. After finishing the distribution, I immediately gave the remaining test paper to the teacher. When she saw that I didn't have a test paper for myself yet, she gave me one, which I was thankful for because I didn't need to ask for it.

I sat down at my desk and answered the questions on the test paper. Hours passed and we were all busy answering the one hundred items of the test that were all identification type questions. No one spoke while we were answering, only the sound of our quiet writing could be heard in the entire room.

Meanwhile, the professor was busy walking around the room, making sure that no one was cheating. This was good because it would be unfair to those who studied well if someone cheated, right?

When I finished answering, I immediately stood up from my seat and gave my test paper to the professor. When I looked at my classmates, I saw that they were still busy answering, which meant that I was the first one to finish.

The professor accepted my test paper. "You can now go for your second subject for this morning, Marra," she said when she received my test paper.

I nodded. "And please don't forget to come to my office this afternoon," she added.

And for the second time, I nodded again. I took my bag from my chair and walked out of the room.

So far, the test wasn't that difficult because we already studied the topics beforehand, the only challenging part was the critical thinking part. But so far, it's okay.

When I got out of the room, I immediately went to the classroom where we would have our second major subject for the day, which was Biological Psychology-Lecture or BIOLPSY. When I arrived at the room for our BIOLPSY subject, the silence immediately greeted me, which was what I wanted because I could study peacefully.

Earlier in the previous room, I wasn't able to study for our upcoming test because of Candice's noise. I took my book and studied the designated page that our professor gave us yesterday, which we were supposed to study because she said she would give an exam today. Professor Jade is the type of teacher who always seems lazy and unmotivated, which is why she just tells us which page to study.

He doesn't discuss things. He's just lazy and all he ever says to us is "open your book to page something till something, study it and we will gonna have a test tomorrow." He doesn't know the word "discuss" and only knows how to give tests, which is why many students fail his subject, and why many are angry with him. After all, he is a terror professor.

I used the remaining time I had to study the pages he assigned us. This will be our test today. I focused on my studies while waiting for the bell to ring, a signal that the first subject is over and my classmates will arrive soon.
